The study of Efficient Treatment Conditions on the Composting of Foodwaste (음식쓰레기의 퇴비화공정의 적정운전조건 검토)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the optical conditions to satisfied the salt concentration of 1% below of compost produced by using the material of foodwaste and sawdust. We changed the mixing ratios of foodwaste : sawdust from 7:3 to 3:7 and the ratios of foodwaste : rice hull from 6.5:3.5 to 4:6. We analyzed C/N, pH, temperature, water content, volatile solid, salt, heavy metals to check the degree of composting. The running conditions of composting were $80{\sim}133{\ell}/min{\cdot}m^{3}$ of air flow rate, 1:4 of time interval(on:off) and 7days of turning interval. Running times were 28days. The optical mixing ratio of foodwaste : sawdust was 6:4 when we compared many factors. Especially when the mixing ratios of foodwaste : sawdust or foodwaste : sawdust were 7:3 or 6:4, the composting was not accomplished by the reason of low C/N. The concentrations of heavy metal were sufficiently low to satisfied the satandard of organic compost. The salt concentration was 0.43%-0.46% that was the half of initial concentration. The rice hull was the good in pore rate and 통기성, and so it can used alternative material.

Changes of Components in Salt-fermented Northern Sand Lance, Ammodytes personatus Sauce during Fermentation (숙성기간에 따른 까나리액젓의 성분변화)

  • To investigate changes of components in salt-fermented northern sand lance, Ammodytes personatus sauce during fermentation, various chemical properties were examined at 1$\~$3 months intervals during 18 months fermentation. The moisture content decreased slightly, but the content of VBN and crude protein, total nitrogen, amino nitrogen, degree of hydrolysis, and absorbance at 453 nm increased gradually during fermentation. On the other hand, ash content, pH, and salinity showed almost no change. The contents of total nitrogen, amino nitrogen, and degree of hydrolysis increased sharply until 6$\~$8 months fermentation and showed the gentle increment after that, The Hx and uric acid were the most abundant in ATP related compounds, ranging from $83.1\%$ to $92.9\%$, After 18 month of fermentation, sauce was rich in free amino acids, such as glutamic acid, alanine, Iysine, leucine, isoleucine, valine, aspartic acid in that order.

CHANGES IN CONTENTS OF FORMALDEHYDE AND AMINES IN ALASKA POLLACK MUSCLE DURING DRYING (명태육 건조중의 formaldehyde 및 amine 류의 변화)

  • The present study was conducted to elucidate the pattern in changes of trimethylamine oxide and related compounds in the muscle of Alaska pollack during drying, especially referred to formaladehyde and dimethylamine. Three kinds of dried samples of Alaska pollack, sun dried, hot-air dried, and salted-sun dried, were prepared and analyzed for their contents of trimethylamine oxide, trimethylamine, dimethylamine, and formaldehyde. The amount of trimethylamine oxide remained in the salted-sun dried sample was relatively higher than those in the other two samples. In the content of trimethylamine, the hot-air dried sample showed an exceedingly high value shelving forty-two times higher than the raw sample while the other two samples showed barely three to four times content based on the raw sample. The dimethylamine content in the hot-air fried sample was comparatively lower than those in the other two samples, the former marked about ten folds of the raw sample's and tile latter showed about fifteen folds, respectively. Refering to the content of formaldehyde, it decreased to eighty-three percent of initial content in the hot-air dried sample. On the contrary, it increased about two times initial content in the other two samples, respectively. As a tendency, the formaldehyde content appeared increased or decreased correlatively with the dimethylamine content, whereas the case was reverse for the trimethylamine content.

  • An experiment was conducted in 1990~1991 to study the effects of various soil amelioration on the soil productivity and machine workability at tidal land paddy field of Kyewhado Substation, Homam Crop Experiment Station. The soil, Munpo Series(fine sandy loam, Typic Fluvaquents) was treated with gipsum, rice straw, rice straw compost and foreign soil(at 20cm depth) after deep ploughing. The results are surmerized as follows. 1. Sand and clay were slightly increased, while silt was slightly decreased in the rice straw and compost plots. The soil texture was changed from loam to sand loam by the addition of foreign soil 2. Soil bulk density and porosity was decreased in the rice straw, compost and foreign soil addition plots. 3. Cone penetration resistance was $12.5kg/cm^2$ at 10cm of soil depth before experiment and $12.5kg/cm^2$ at 20cm of soil depth after experiment except control, and the root zone was expended down to 20cm. 4. Soil salt content before experiment was 0.46 and 0.48% for surface soil(10cm) and subsoil(20cm), respectively ; The salt content of ameliorated plot was 0.26~0.32% and 0.16~0.31%, respectively, indicating good leaching of soil salt by the soil improvements. 5. The yields of rice in different treatments were in the order of the foreign soil addition > compost > gypsum > rice straw > control.

A Study on Nutritive Values and Salt Contents of Commercially Prepared Take-Out Boxed-Lunch In Korea (한국형 시판 도시락의 영양가 및 식염함량)

  • This research was conducted on the 10 take-out boxed-lunches commercially prepared in the department stores. chain stores. and the public railroad trains in Korea. Sampling was conducted from February 1990 to March 1990. Nutritive values and sodium contents of the 10 boxed-lunch samples are summarized as follows : 1) The average weight(percentage) of the cooked rice and the side dishes were 304.6g(49.4) and 312.4(506%), respectively. The weight of these samples were significantly heavier than that of Japanese style boxed-lunches. 2) The average number of the side dishes was 12. The average numbers of food items classified by the five food groups were 6.1 in protein food group, 0.3 in calcium food group. 6.0 in vitamin and mineral food group. 1.5 in carbohydrate food group, and 1.5 in oil and fat food group. 3) They contained on the average 840.7kcal of energy, 38.9g of protein, 22.7g of fat, 120.4g of carbohydrate. 300.8mg of calcium. 410.8mg of phosphours, 6.61 mg of iron. 219.8 R.E. of vitamin A, 0.46mg of thiamin, 0.67mg of riboflavin, 10.5mg of niacin, 27.5mg of ascorbic acid. Thus. except vitamin t the content of all the nutrients were higher than the value of 1/3 of the RDA for adults. 4) The high priced group(group 2) had more protein, calcuim. iron and niacin contents than the cheaper group(group 1). Probably, it's because the group 2 had more animal foods than the group 1. 5) The average energy content per unit price(100 won) was 37.3kcal and the average protein content per unit price(100 won) was 1.64g. Korena style boxed-lunches had higher energy and protein contents per unit price than Japanese style, and the group 1 higher than the group 2. 6) The average energy Proportions of Protein, carbohydrate. and fat were 18.3%, 57.4%, and 24.3%, respectively. These proportions are good enough. 7) Frequency of cooking methods for the side dishes were found in the decreasing order : pan-frying, frying, braising, seasoning, kimchi, grilling, pickling, stir-frying, steaming and fermenting. Generally simple cooking methods were used, thus the menus were lack or varieties. 8) Frequency of colors for the side dishes were found in the decreasing order : red, brown. yellow, green, black, white. Too much red pepper was used. 9) The average capacity of the containers for the staples and the side dishes were 468.1ml and 590.6ml, respectively. And the containers could not keep the food items well seperated. 10) The average contensts of sodium and salt were 2.287mg and 5.76g, in the range of 1, 398mg to 3, 489mg and 3.53g to 8.80g, respectively. These are much higher values than the recommended amount of salt.

Injuries of Landscape Trees and Causes in the Reclaimed Seaside Areas (임해매립지 조경수목의 피해현황 및 요인분석)

  • This study was intended to investigate injury rates of landscape trees planted in the reclaimed seaside areas and to analyse their causes in planting environment. The planting environment such as soil properties, reclaimed depth of soil, soil hardness, salt consistency of soil, and drainage system were surveyed in 8 reclaimed seaside areas in the middle and southern regions of the country. Injury rates of 42 species, 1,233 trees and growth of branches in 6 species. 130 trees were measured and analysed to fond out salt-resistant trees in the reclaimed lands. The results of the survey are as follows; the average injury rate of evergreen trees was 32%. which was much lower than that of deciduous trees as 52%. The lower injured trees in the 8 reclaimed lands were Pinus thunbergii, Pinus parvinora. Juniperus chinensis 'Kaizuka', Pinus koraiensis, Acer trifdum, Koelreuteria paniculata and Metasequoia glyptostroboides. The higher injured trees were Acer palmatum, Magnolia kobus. Lagerstroemia indica, Diospiros kaki, Cercidiphyllum japonicum, Sorbus commixta, Prunus yedoensis, Pinus desinora, Chaenomeles sinensis, Albizzia julibrissin and Zelkowa serrata. At least the mounding of 1.7m depth of soil is needed from the tidal saline soil to the roots of trees to protect trees from salt injury Roots of trees were found to have infiltrated to 0.77m under the soil of which solidity was over 4.5kg/㎥. And 22 of total 25 soils were acid from pH 3.72 to pH 5.85. Injury rate of trees was much higher when they were detached from the sea, and planted on the drainage.

Floc Property of Yeongsan Cohesive Bed Sediment with Respect to Salinity and Sediment Concentration (점착성 퇴적물의 염분과 퇴적물농도에 따른 플럭 특성: 플럭카메라를 이용한 실험연구)

  • To examine floc characteristics of cohesive bed sediment of the Yeongsan River estuary, a floc camera system has been developed and utilized to observe flocs under varying conditions. In order to validate the floc camera system, sand particles were passed through 88-125 and $63-88{\mu}m$ sieves and observed within the laboratory. Mean grain size and settling velocities were found to be 102 and $56.2{\mu}m$ and 6.7 and 5.9 mm/s, respectively. Artifacts of particles estimated outside of the sieve range are attributed to being imaged out of the depth of focus. However, as mean grain size and settling velocity of each size class were within the confidence interval, the floc camera system was confidently used to examine cohesive bed sediments of Yeongsan River estuary. The bed sediment sample was prepared with a concentration of 0.1 g/L in 0 psu deionized water. The mean grain size, settling velocity and fractal dimension of flocs were $40.6{\pm}0.66{\mu}m$, 14 mm/s, and 2.86, respectively. Experiments were also conducted using different salinities (10 and 34 psu) and sediment concentrations (0.1 and 0.3 g/L). Despite changing these parameters, the mean observed grain size and settling velocities were found to be the same within the error range of the system. The relatively higher values of settling velocity and fractal dimension are considered a result of the sediment containing relatively small concentrations of organic matter. Moreover, consistent floc size over various grain sizes and concentrations may be the result of insufficient turbulence to aggregate flocs.

Induction of Anthocyanin and Betaine by Salinity Stress in Germinating Seeds (발아중인 종자로부터 Salinity Stress에 의해 유도되는 Anthocyanin과 Betaine에 관안 연구)

  • The effect of salinity stress of Brassica olearacea and Capsicum annuum were studied at various levels of salinity conditions(Na-gluconate, K-gluconate, NaCl, KCl). The effects of salinity stress were measured by seedling growth rates and secondary metabolites contents of the stressed plants. Each seedling studied on the response of different salinity stress. Seedling growth of Capsicum annuum was inhibited up to 200 mM salt tolerance and Brassica olearacea was inhibited up to 400 mM salt tolerance. The produced anthocyanin was separated to high value from 200 mM NaCl in case of Brassica olearana and 50 mM K-gluconate in case of Capsicum annuum. The BADH activity was very high in Brassica olearacea seedlings treated with 200 mM NaCl and in Capsicum annuum seedlings treated with 100 mM K-gluconate. The BADH activities were increased during the early culture days, it induced betaine synthesis. The salinity stress promoted BADH activiy, subsequently endogenous betaine contents were increased, and it seemed to be secure seedling from salinity stress. The salinity concentration of 200 mM was effective on the inhibition of seed germination and on the increase of proline accumulation in tissue. The inhibition of seedling growth and accumulation of secondary metabolites in seedling were caused osmotic hypersensitivity against salinity stress.

Comparison of the High Concentration Calcium Chloride(CaCl2) Salt Reduction Effect of Soil Amendment Agent and Planting Pennisetum alopecuroides (토양개량제와 수크령 식재에 따른 고농도 염화칼슘 염분저감 효과 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of soil amendment treatments, such as hydroball, and active carbon, and planting Pennisetum alopecuroides for reducing calcium chloride (CaCl2) of soil leachate and the growth of Pennisetum alopecuroides. The experiment planted Pennisetum alopecuroides in a plastic pot with a diameter of 10 cm and a height of 9 cm in a greenhouse April-October 2018. The experimental group comprised six treatments, including Non-treatment (Cont.), Hydroball (H), Active carbon (AC), planting Pennisetum alopecuroides (P), hydroball + planting Pennisetum alopecuroides (H + P), and active carbon + planting Pennisetum alopecuroides (AC + P). The dissolution of the CaCl2 concentration 200ml of 10g/L was irrigated once every two weeks. We measured the growth (plant height, leaf length, leaf width, number of leaves), EC, pH, and exchangeable cations (K+, Ca2+, Na+, and Mg2+) according to the high concentration of CaCl2 in the plant and soil leachate. In a treatment with the 'hydroball' amendment, the soil leachate electrical conductivity (EC), and the cation exchangeable were decreased more than those of the control, while the growth of Pennisetum alopecuroides relative growth rate(RGR) increased. Overall, application with the hydroball amendment added the planting of Pennisetum alopecuroides improved the salt reduction effect more than the control group. These results indicate that the application of the soil amendment agent hydroball was suitable soil amendments in accordance with the high concentration of calcium chloride (CaCl2). Also, Planting Pennisetum alopecuroides is expected to be appropriate for salt-tolerant plant for soil affected by deicing salt agents.

Quality Investigation of Commercial Northern Sand Lance, Ammodytes Personatus Sauces (시판 까나리액젓의 품질조사)

  • The quality characteristics of 15 kinds of the commercial northern sand lance, Ammodytes Personatus sauce (CNS) of korean traditional salt-fermented fish sauces were evaluated comparing to the traditional northern sand lance, Ammodytes Personatus sauce (TNS). The ranges of chemical compositions of the CNSs were $66.5\~71.0\%$ moisture, $19.3\~24.6\%$ ash, $4.7\~12.0\%$ crude protein, and the pH and salinity were $5.56\~6.47\%,\;24.0\~32.9\%$, respectively. Total nitrogen, amino nitrogen, total free amino acid and total ATP related compounds (sum of ATP$\~$IMP, HxR, Hx and uric acid) were in the ranges of 0.781$\~$ 1,918 g, 445.9$\~$1037.9 mg, 3,258.9$\~$6:562.6mg in 100 ml CNSs, and 4.766$\~$8.989 $\mu$mol in 1 ml CNSs. The CNSs were higher in content of moisture, TMAO, TMA and pH, but lower in content of crude protein, salinity, total nitrogen, amino nitrogen, total ATP related compounds, absorbance at 453 nm and total free amino acid than the TNSs, Both CNS and TNS samples were rich in free amino acids, such as glutamic acid, lysine, alanine, leucine, valine, aspartic acid and isoleucine in the order.
