Preparation of Fluorescence Particles by Spray Pyrolysis (분무열분해법에의한 형광체 입자의 제조)

  • Spray pyrosysis is a process to prepare particles and films by evaporating and decomposing droplets of precursor solutions in the order of 1-10 micrometer in diameter. Key elements of the spray pyrolysis process include precursor, solvent, droplet generator, and reactor. Various combination of these 4 elements produces wide range of particles and films. In general. the current status of the spray pyrolysis technology is not quite promising for commercial success. However, this process will be feasible to produce multicomponent functional materials of controlled morphology. In this paper, current status of the spray pyrolysis technology is introduced with the emphasis of production of fluorescence particles.

Growth of Impurity Doped BGO Scintillation Crystals and Its Thermoluminescent Characteristics. (불순물 첨가 BGO 섬광체 단결정의 육성과 열형광 특성)

  • Eu or Fe doped BGO scintillation crystals were grown by Czochralski method. In order to get information about traps in the grown BGO crystals, we measured trap parameters including activation energy, frequency factor and the kinetic order of thermoluminescence, and compared such parameters with thermoluminescent characteristics of pure BGO scintillation crystals. In addition, optical transmittance of the grown BGO crystals was measured.

Luminescence Properties of Europium-doped NaSr(PO3)3 Phosphor (Europium이 첨가된 NaSr(PO3)3형광체의 형광특성)

  • Phosphor with phosphorus doped with rare earth ions was investigated by searching Sr and Eu phosphors suitable for substitution of Eu ions with similar ionic radius to polyphosphate host. The $NaSr(PO_3)_3$ phosphor was synthesized by the solid state method and the $NaSr(PO_3)_3:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor was prepared by the carbon thermal reduction method. Both of the phosphors were identified by X - ray diffraction. The excitation and emission spectra of $NaSr(PO_3)_3:Eu^{3+}$ increased fluorescence intensity and intensity quenching with increasing $Eu^{3+}$ concentration. The higher the $Eu^{3+}$ concentration in the emission spectrum, the higher the local symmetry of $Eu^{3+}$ environment. The mechanism of concentration quenching, in which fluorescence decreases due to the energy transfer between $Eu^{2+}$ ions with the closest critical distance between $Eu^{2+}$ ions with increasing $Eu^{2+}$ ion concentration, was confirmed in the emission spectrum of $NaSr(PO_3)_3:Eu^{2+}$ concentration. It is possible to change the fluorescent region through the post-processing of single rare earth ion added phosphors, and it is possible to change the fluorescence by applying the energy transfer and concentration quenching mechanism according to the local symmetry of $Eu^{3+}$ will be used for high phosphor development.

A Study on the Characteristics of Low Temperature Calcined Phosphor Paste (저온소성 형광체 페이스트의 특성 연구)

  • In this study we have manufactured and characterized the low temperature calcined phosphor paste that can be used as a flat light source for LCD BLU. For the phosphor paste, the low temperature calcined acryl resin was used as the binder. From the result of thermal decomposition measurement, residual carbonaceous materials was found to be less than 0.1 wt% at $400^{\circ}C$. A flat light source device that was made by screen printing using the manufactured paste showed a near 100% luminous efficiency compared to the luminance of the phosphor.

The effect of thickness on luminous properties of ceramic phosphor plate for high-power LD (고출력 LD 용 형광체 세라믹 플레이트의 두께에 따른 광학 특성)

  • In the present paper, garnet structured $Y_3Al_5O_{12}:Ce^{3+}$ (YAG : Ce) ceramic phosphor plate (CPP) for high power laser diode (LD) was prepared and optical properties were analyzed. We synthesized monodispersed spherical nano-sized YAG : Ce particles by liquid phase method, fabricated phosphor ceramic plate with the addition of $Al_2O_3$. $75{\mu}m$ and $100{\mu}m$ thick YAG : Ce CPPs were compared in terms of the factors of conversion efficacy, thermal quenching, luminance and correlated color temperature (CCT). In conclusion, conversion efficacy decreased by 25 % in both samples and $100{\mu}m$ thick sample provides better optical properties of thermal quenching, maximum light conversion efficacy and maximum luminance value.
