A Study on the Mathematical Programming Approach to the Subway Routing Problem (지하철 차량운용 문제에 대한 수리적 해법에 관한 연구)

  • This paper considers subway routing problem. Given a schedule of train to be routed by a railway stock, the routing problem determines a sequence of trains while satisfying turnaround time and maintenance restrictions. Generally, the solution of routing problem is generated from set partition formulation solved by column generation method, a typical integer programming approach for train-set. However, we find the characteristics of metropolitan subway which has a simple rail network, a few end stations and 13 departure-arrival patterns. We reflect a turn-around constraint due to spatial limitations has no existence in conventional railroad. Our objective is to minimize the number of daily train-sets. In this paper, we develop two basic techniques that solve the subway routing problem in a reasonable time. In first stage, we formulate the routing problem as a Min-cost-flow problem. Then, in the second stage, we attempt to normalize the distance covered to each routes and reduce the travel distance using our heuristic approach. Applied to the current daily timetable, we could find the subway routings, which is an approximately 14% improvement on the number of train-sets reducing 15% of maximum traveling distance and 8% of the standard deviation.

  • This study deals with the algorithm to finding the maximum capacity and their schedule of extra freight while honoring planned timetable of trains on railway network. Time-expanded network, a kind of space-time graph, can be shown both planned train timetable and dynamic features of given problem. Pre-processing procedure is a series of infeasible arcs removal from time-expanded network honoring planned timetable. In the result, this preprocessing transforms dynamic features of given problem into static maximal flow problem which can be easily solved.

  • 올해(2004년) 연말로 예정된 남북철도 연결이 동복아 지역의 물적교류에 미칠 영향에 관한 연구는 TSR, TCR, TMGR, TMR에 관한 연구와 함께 국내에 이미 상당한 수준 축적되었지만 물적교류와 함께 동북아 교류협력에 또 한 축을 이루고 있는 인적교류 즉 여객수송에 관한 연구는 거의 없는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 인구가 조밀하고 경제성장 속도가 빠른 서울$\leftrightarrow$북경 축에 국제 여객열차를 운행 할 경우를 가정하여 기존의 항공${\cdot}$해운에서 철도로의 수요 전환량을 실제 설문조사를 통하여 구하고 이를 수송할 열차 운행계획을 세운다. 나아가 국제 여객열차 운영자의 입장에서 예상수입 및 비용을 현실성 있게 계산하고 수익성 여부도 검토한다.

  • 철도의 중장기 발진계획과 구조개혁에 따라 열차운행 및 유지보수의 효율화가 대두되고 있다. 특히, 운영자측면에서는 저밀도 선구에 대하여 비용의 증대에 따른 많은 어려움이 존재하여 이에 대한 적절한 방안이 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국외의 철도운영 사례조사를 통하여 저밀도 선구에서의 운영환경을 고려한, 기술적인 측면에서 국내의 철도환경에 적합하고 선로변 설비의 최소화와 업무의 효율화를 추구할 수 있는 새로운 열차제어시스템을 제안하였다.

  • Recently, the city railway in the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) has offered a low quality of service as a passage time, because it was operated slowly. So, the people who live in modern society are not satisfied about passage time, therefore, this study tried to make that the subway in the SMA becomes a more functional and effective wide-area-transportation-network through an express train introduction's method which examined cases from abroad and current system. and then presented how express train could be applied to current system. In a case study, We used the An-San Line and Su-In Line as a examples and developed a schedule which can minimize the delaying time of subway by using Branch & Bound Algorithm. The train operational plan was loaded to consider a railroad siding, Obtained site, and the dispatch interval(three to ten minutes) for the express and local lines and finally, We presented an alternative operational plan which made by those factors.

  • The government makes an effort to disperse the centralization of Seoul through the its surroundings development for relieving the various social problems caused by the capital region concentration. But, the planless rail system development in the capital region have made it difficult to approach into Seoul city center from its surroundings. Through Seoul metro line 9, constructed by private company first in Korea, that has operation plan with normal and express train together, we would like to study up on promotion of passenger service quality such as "the improvement of the accessibility to Seoul city center from its surroundings" and "service of various pattern of trains".

  • The purpose of this research is to optimize the line planning of the intercity passenger railway. In this study, the line planning problem has been formulated into a mixed integer programming by minimizing both user costs (passenger's total travel time) and operator costs (operation, maintenance and vehicle costs) with multiple train types. As a solution algorithm, the branch-and-bound method is used to solve this problem. The change of travel demand, train speed and the number of schedules have been tested through sensitivity analysis. The optimal stop-schedules and frequency as well as system split with respect to each train type have been found in the case study of Kyoung-bu railway line in Korea. The model and results of this research are useful to make a decision for railway operation strategy, to analyze the efficiency of new railway systems and to evaluate the social costs of users and operators.

New Electrified Rail Impact on Conventional Railroad ; An Empirical Analysis (서울~천안간 전철 개통후 일반철도 수요변화 분석)

  • This study analyzed changes of train operation between Seoul~Cheonan after the introduction of new electrified rail in 2005. As expected number of passengers were reduced at specific service section and several railroad stations which were served by the Mugunghwa. Also, the statistic shows that passenter demand concentrated in a specific time, so train service frequency and level of service need to be modified to meet with changed demand pattern. The purpose of this paper is to identify critical demand pattern, especially, in several section of the railroad system. This studies provide a railroad transportation system that is significantly more efficient, with far greater capacity, by providing solutions to the problems of congestion impact.

  • 현재 세계적인 열차제어의 추세는 궤도회로에 의한 고정폐색방식을 이용한 열차 운행이 아닌 발리스 또는 무선통신에 의한 이동권한을 이용한 열차제어방식을 적용하고 있으며, 국내에서도 이에 맞추어 철도청에서는 ATP 사업을 통하여 유럽의 ERTMS/ETCS 규격에 의한 발리스 기반의 열차제어시스템을 적용할 계획이다. 또한 분당선에서는 통신기반 열차제어시스템인CBTC 시스템을 시범구축하고 있다. 이러한 추세에 맞추어 열차제어시스템에 있어서 가장 중요한 기능 중의하나인 안전제동 기능을 이동권한에 적합하도록 새롭게 모델링할 필요가 있으며, 본 논문에서는 이러한 이동권한에 의한 열차제어시스템의 안전제동에 대해 연구하였다.

A study on the Demand Variations of Gyeongchun line Upon Terminating at Seongbuk Station (경춘선 성북역 시종착에 따른 수요변화 연구)

  • Since 2010 December, the Gyeongchun line can provide better service than the other modes in respect of cost & time efficiency by operating electric double track from Sangbong station to Chuncheon station. However customers living in the Northern part of capital area, which there are stations of line No.1, have inconvenience to transfering twice to access Gyeongchun line. To minimize inconvenience, this study has analyzed the demand variation of Geongchun line upon changing the terminal of some trains on Gyeongchun line which reduces the number of transfer. In this study, the demand variation has been estimated by the direct demand model considering only saving time between O/D. So some additional modifications are required, because the effect of fare and accession convenience has not been considered.
