Investigations into cavity flows have been conducted for noise and vibration problems that arise in cavity systems. Cavity systems have been applied in engineering devices and have undergone rapid development in the aerospace industry. Meanwhile, to the author's best knowledge, the cavity on a curved wall has been seldom studied. The present work is conducted to study the flow physics of a cavity mounted on a curved wall. Numerical analysis is performed to investigate the cavity flow. Two variables of sub- and supersonic cavity flows were considered: the radius of curvature of the curved wall (L/R) and the inlet Mach number. The results show that the uniform vortex generated by the cavity flow on the curved wall stabilize the pressure fluctuation as time passes. As the inlet Mach number increases, the pressure fluctuation amplitude increases. The results obtained from the curved wall are compared with those from a straight wall using Rossiter's formula. The Strouhal number of the curved wall is lower than that of the straight wall. Lower Strouhal numbers have been obtained in the present computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results than in the theoretical results using Rossiter's formula.

지난해 9월 발표된 이후 논란이 되고 있는 '증도가자'에 대한 학술발표회가 지난 6월 17일 프레스센터 20층 국제회의장에서 열렸다. 경북대학교 사회과학연구원과 청주고인쇄박물관 공동주최로 열린 이번 학술발표회는 옥영정 한국학중앙연구원 고문학관리학과 교수가 '고려금속활자 연구사'에 대해, 남권희 경북대학교 문헌정보학과 교수가 '증도가자의 개요와 특징'에 대해, 홍완 한국지질자원연구원이 '증도가자에 잔류된 먹이 탄소연대 분석에 대해, 예병준 경북대학교 신소재공학부 교수가 '금속활자의 주조방법과 기술'에 대해, 김성수 청주대학교 교수가 '남명천화상송도증도가의 성립과 판본'에 대해, 이승철 청주고인쇄박물관 박사가 '증도가와 증도가자의 서체분석'에 대해 발표했다.

21세기를 앞에 둔 시점에서 상수도사업의 당면과제를 논의하여 우리나라 수도사업의 선진화 방안을 도출하고, 수도협회 창립 22년을 되돌아보고 신장된 국력과 세계화에 걸맞는 협회로 육성하기 위한 활성화 방안을 논의하고 수도협회 발전을 위한 새로운 전기를 마련하기 위하여 환경부와 한국수도협회가 공동으로 주최한 전국 수도인 간담회가 지난 7월 11일 과천 정부제2청사 회의실에서 성황리에 개최되었다. 이번 간담회는 수도협회를 발기하기 위하여 1973년 6월 9일 서울 우이동 그린파크호텔에서 22명의 전국 수도인들의 간담회가 있은 이후 23년만에 열린 전국적인 모임으로서 우리 수도계 발전을 위한 주요현안이 심도있게 논의되었으며 특히 침체된 수도협회를 활성화하기 위하여 수도사업자(지방자치단체)들이 적극참여 하자는데 의견이 모아짐에 따라 그 준비를 위한 7인 위원회가 구성되어 이를 촉진하게 되었으니 앞으로 우리 수도계 발전을 위한 일대전환기를 맞이하게 되었다.

국내 최초 '오리장염'에 관한 연구가 발표되었다. 전북대학교 수의과대학 조류질병학교실(교수 : 장형관, 발표자 : 장상호 대학원생)은 국내에서 아직 보고된 바 없는 '오리장염 바이러스' 진단과 예방에 활용될 수 있는 결과를 발표, 지난해 열린 대한수의학회 추계학술대회에서 수의양계대상을 수상하여 주목받고 있다. 이 논문은 오리장염바이러스의 국내 첫 보고 및 특성구명을 통해 바이러스가 어디로부터 유래했는지 연구 분석한 것이다. 이번 연구발표로 국내 오리 사육농가의 오리장염바이러스의 진단과 예방에 큰 도움이 될 것으로 기대되고 있어 귀추가 모아진다. 전북대 수의학대학 수의학과 장형관 교수는 건국대 수의학과를 졸업하고 수의미생물학 석사를 취득 후 93년 일본으로 넘어가 동경대학교 수의전염병학 수의학박사학위를 취득했다. 현재 전북대 수의학과 교수이면서 인수 공동전염병연구소 소장을 맡고 있으며, 전라북도 가축방역협의회 및 농림수산검역검사본부 동식물위생연구소 질병진단과 자문위원으로도 활발히 활동하고 있다.

2001년 카타르 도하에서 열린 세계무역기구(WTO)의 각료회의 결과 2005년까지 보건의료 서비스분야의 시장개방 논의를 마쳐야 한다. 이에 국내 의료계는 의료공동대책위원회를 구성하여 대응방안을 모색하고 있으며, 치협도 특별위원회를 구성하여 국민 구강보건에 최선의 방향을 찾기 위해 노력을 하고 있다. 그런 노력의 일환으로 치협은 치과의사들이 현 의료시장 개방이라는 명제 앞에서, 얼마나 처해진 상황을 잘 파악하고 있으며 무엇을 원하는 가를 알기 위해 회원들의 의견을 물었다. 이번 호와 다음 호에서는 치협이 지난 4월에 회원 및 치대생 등에게 설문 조사한 결과를 중심으로 모아진 회원들의 견해를 중심으로 구강보건정책연구회에서 발표한 자료를 게재한다.

지구 대기 중 온실가스 농도와 지구의 지표 온도가 매년 증가하고 있으며 21세기에는 기후변화의 가속도가 훨씬 심해질 것으로 전망되고 있다. 산업혁명 이후부터 급격하게 늘어난 온실가스의 영향으로 기후변화가 일어나고 있다는 것은 새삼스러운 이슈가 아니며, 어느 한 지역에 그치는 것이 아니라 지구환경적 문제이기 때문에 모든 국가의 공동 대책 수립이 불가피하다는 논의가 진행된 지 오래다. 지난 1992년 브라질에서 열린 '리우환경회의'에서 본격적으로 지구온난화 방안을 논의한 이래, 1997년 일본에서 '교토의정서' 채택에 관한 회의가 열렸으며, 매년 협약이행 당사국 총회를 개최해 오고 있다. 범지구적 구속력을 갖는 '교토의정서'의 탄소배출 협의내용은 2012년까지 효력을 갖는데 우리나라는 의무대상국이 아니었지만 앞으로 열릴 회의를 통해 어떤 형태로든 의무감축 대상국이 될 공산이 크다. 우리나라도 국회에 계류 중인 '녹색성장기본법'이 통과되면 탄소감축이 본격적으로 시행될 예정이며 현재 시범실시중인 탄소배출권 거래제도 구체화될 계획이다. 이번호에서는 국제 탄소배출권 논의에 대한 전반적인 사항과 이와 관련한 우리나라 정책 및 현황 등을 점검해보고 기업 및 가정에서 실행할 수 있는 대책 등에 대해 알아본다.

The formation of knowledge of the people of Korean society is the social practices of collective subjectivity. Subjectivity is the truth of the self, which is incessantly created, questioned and modified in the milieu of self-reflection. In an attempt to examine the hermeneutics of the subject of Korean society, a conceptual framework is proposed, which, with the notion of life embedded, consists of a historical sequence of the popular, minjung, multitude, people and community. The period of 1960s saw the ambiguous mass of lifes floating, the individual with his/her own interior world of consciousness emerge. The ideological solidarity is formed in the the next two decades, in contestation with immediate and physical threatening such as poverty and dictatorship. The democratization of Korean society and the global expansion of neoliberal regime gave a re-birth of multitude and people which is characterized with their pursuit of the co-existence and co-realization of singularity and universality on the ethical principle of the open and communicative radicality.

Hydrosyringomyelia is a dilation of the spinal cord central canal. In human it may be caused by congenital malformations such as Dandy-Walker syndrome and Chiari malformations or may be acquired as a result of infection, trauma or neoplasia. Hydrocephalus is an excessive accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within the ventricles and occipital dysplasia is the dorsal extension of the foramen magnum. Hydrosyringomyelia and hydrocephalus can be confirmed by computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). A 3-year-old male maltese was presented with a history of long-term seizure. Blood examination was all unremarkable. On rostrodorsal-caudoventral oblique radiograph of the skull showed severe occipital dysplasia. On brain sonography through the persistent fontanelle, severe lateral ventriculomegaly was revealed. MRI examination revealed hydrocephalus and hydrosyringomyelia. Diuretic therapy didn't reduce clinical symptoms and surgical decompression was conducted. The dog responded well with ventriculo-peritoneal shunting. MRI is the most superior modality to diagnose hydrocephalus and hydrosyringomyelia, to plan therapy and to determine the prognosis.

The purpose of this study is to find methods for building the community in poor residential environments. We analyze the public art project, "The Rose of Sharon Blooms," in Daejeon. To understand the project we interviewed artists, curators, local residents, and visitors, about three aspects of public art: visuality, speciality, and communication with citizens. These stakeholder interviews yielded valuable knowledge and insights: First, artworks created from the residents' recycled junk effectively harmonizes and unifies the citizens and their environment. Second, managing a gallery in the neighborhood symbolically values and explicates the public art project and thus enhanced the local identity. Third, public workshops in the neighborhood provide a venue for local citizens to communicate with visitors about the public arts, which eventually led to the welcoming atmosphere of the community. However, we found relatively little awareness of the need for partnership aspects among our interviewees, which suggests the importance of ongoing cooperation with other arts institutions and researchers to build vital cultural linkages and introduce varied art forms.

제64차 국제도서관연맹(IFLA)대회가 ‘정보와 문화의 교차로에서’라는 주제아래 8월 16일부터 21일까지 네덜란드 암스테르담에서 개최되었다. IFLA 총회가 네덜란드에서 개최된 것은 1939년 헤이그와 암스테르담, 그리고 1966년 쉐베닝겐에서 열린 데 이어 이번이 세 번째이다. 이번 대회는 공식집계에 따르면 세계 120개국에서 3,328명의 도서관인들이 참가하는 대성황을 이루었다고 한다. IFLA 대회는 회원국을 순회하면서 열리는데 지난해에는 덴마크 코펜하겐에서 열렸다. IFLA는 1927년 창설된 비정부기구로서 UNESCO와 함께 공식적으로 활동해왔다. IFLA의 목적은 도서관 활동과 문헌정보학 전반에 걸친 국제적인 이해와 협력, 토론, 연구 및 개발을 증진시키고 도서관인들이 국제적인 공동 관심사를 논하는 장을 제공하는 데 있다. 현재 회원으로 141개국 1400이상의 도서관 및 관련 단체들이 가입되어 있다. IFLA조직은 헤이그에 본부를 두고 있으며, 운영 조직으로 심의 평가를 담당하는 실행위원회와 전문위원회 그리고 4개의 자문위원회로 구성되어 있다. 실행위원회는 IFLA의 정책, 운영과 재정에 대하여 책임을 지어, 전문위원회는 두 개의 하부조직인 전문가 그룹과 5개 코아 프로그램에 의해 수행되는 전문적인 활동의 기획과 프로그래밍에 대하여 모니터 한다. 전문가 그룹이란 8개의 부회와 그 아래있는 34개의 분과와 11개의 원탁회의를 말한다. IFLA대회는 한국도서관협회가 주최하는 전국도서관대회보다 좀더 규모가 큰 행사라고 생각하면 상상하기가 쉬울 것이다. 대회 전체를 아우르는 주제가 설정되어 있고, 그 아래 각 분과별 발표회 또는 원탁회의가 동시에 여러 곳에서 진행된다. 따라서 참가자는 프로그램을 보고 자신이 참석할 분과나 포럼 등을 미리 정해두지 않으면 우왕좌왕하게 된다. 그리고 참석기간 중에는 매일 발행되는 를 반드시 참고할 필요가 있다. 이 자료는 IFLA 대회 일정의 변경이라든가, 하루 동안 일어난 소식을 알려주는 일종의 신문과 같은 역할을 한다.
