Development of Thermal-Hydro Pipe Element for Ground Heat Exchange System (지중 열교환 시스템을 위한 열-수리 파이프 요소의 개발)

  • Ground-coupled heat pump system has attracted attention as a promising renewable energy technology due to its improving energy efficiency and eco-friendly mechanism for space cooling and heating. Pipes buried in the ground play a role of direct thermal interaction between circulating fluid inside the pipe and surrounding soils in the geothermal exchange system. However, both complexities of turbulent flow coupling thermal-hydraulic phenomena and very long aspect ratio of the pipe make it difficult to model the heat exchange system directly. Energy balance for fluid flow inside the pipe was derived to model thermal-hydraulic phenomena, and one-dimensional pipe element was proposed through Galerkin formation and time integration of the equation. Developed element is combined to pre-developed FEM code for THM phenomena in porous media. Numerical results of Thermal Response Test showed that line-source model overestimates equivalent thermal conductivity of surrounding soils due to thermal interaction between adjacent pipes and finite length of the pipe. Thus, inverse analysis for the TRT simulation was conducted to present optimal transformation matrix with utmost convergence.

비활성 가스제너레이터 성능분석

  • 비활성 가스제너레이터는 가스터빈 추진기관 및 기타 열기관을 이용하여 연소가 되지 않는 저온의 공기를 생산하는 기계장치를 말하며 이러한 저온의 비활성 기체를 화재 지역에 분사하는 경우 기존의 소방수를 이용한 화재 진압방식보다 매우 효율적으로 화재진압에 사용되어 질 수 있다. 일반적으로 민항기 등의 가스터빈 추진 기관에서 배기되는 기체내에는 터빈입구온도(TIT : Turbine Inlet Temperature)및 초과공기지수(Excess Air Coefficient)에 따라 다르게 나타나지만 TIT가 1500$^{\circ}$K인 경우 약 13-14%정도의 산소가 잔존하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 가스터빈 및 열교환 시스템 그리고 터빈 1단 등의 시스템 조합율을 통하여 대기 중의 기체의 온도를 영하 2$0^{\circ}C$ 및 산소함유량을 약 5%수준까지 낮춤으로서 이를 대형 화재 진압에 사용하기 위한 연구이다. 비활성 가스제너레이터에 사용하는 연료로는 Kerosene 및 CNG(Compressed Natural Gas)등이 사용될 수 있으며, 유량이 8.1kg/sec인 터보축 가스터빈 엔진을 사용하는 경우 18750㎥ 부피의 비활성기체를 생산하는데 Kerosene 연료가 약 1톤(200$ 이하)이 필요한 것으로 계산되며 이에 소요되는 시간도 약 52분에 지나지 않는 것으로 계산되었다. 만일 50kg/sec의 보다 큰 가스터빈 엔진을 사용하는 경우 약 9분 정도가 필요한 것으로 계산되었다. 사용되는 가스터빈은 압축비가 15, 열교환기의 효율이 $\varepsilon$=0. 그리고 최종 터빈 1단의 팽창비가 1.25가 적합한 것으로 계산된다. 연구 분석 결과 기술적 문제점으로는 배기 가스온도가 낮은데 따른 출구 부분의 Bearing, Sealing이 문제가 될 수 있다고 판단되며 배기 가스 자체에 대기 공기중에 함유되어 있던 습기가 얼어붙는(Icing화) 문제가 발생하기 때문에 배기가스의 Icing을 방지하기 위하여 압축기 끝단에서 공기를 추출하여 배기부분에 송출할 필요성이 있는 것으로 판단되었다. 출구가스의 기체 유동속도가 매우 빠르므로 (100-l10m.sec) 이를 완화하기 위한 디퓨저의 설계가 요구된다고 판단된다. 또 연소기 후방에 물을 주입하는 경우 열교환기 및 기타 부분품에 발생할 수 있는 부식 및 열교환 효율 저하도 간과할 수 없는 문제로 파악되었다. 이러한 기술적 문제가 적절히 해결되는 경우 비활성 가스 제너레이터는 민수용으로는 대형 빌딩, 산림, 유조선 등의 화재에 매우 적절히 사용되어 질 수 있을 뿐 아니라 군사적으로도 군사작전 중 및 공군 기지의 화재 그리고 지하벙커에 설치되어 있는 고급 첨단 군사 장비 등의 화재 뿐 아니라 대간첩작전 등에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Numerical Simulations for Optimal Utilization of Geothermal Energy under Groundwater-bearing Conditions (지하수 부존지역에서 최적 지열에너지 활용방식 수치 모의)

  • While the vertical open type of heat exchanger is more effective in areas of abundant groundwater, and is becoming more widely used, the heat exchanger most commonly used in geothermal heating and cooling systems in Korea is the vertical closed loop type. In this study, we performed numerical simulations of the optimal utilization of geothermal energy based on the hydrogeological and thermal properties to evaluate the efficiency of the vertical open type in areas of abundant groundwater supply. The first simulation indicated that the vertical open type using groundwater directly is more efficient than the vertical closed loop type in areas of abundant groundwater. Furthermore, a doublet system with separated injection and extraction wells was more efficient because the temperature difference (${\Delta}$) between the injection and extraction water generated by heat exchange with the ground is large. In the second simulation, we performed additional numerical simulations of the optimal utilization of geothermal energy that incorporated heat transfer, distance, flow rate, and groundwater hydraulic gradient targeting a single well, SCW (standing column well), and doublet. We present a flow diagram that can be used to select the optimal type of heat exchanger based on these simulation results. The results of this study indicate that it is necessary to examine the adequacy of the geothermal energy utilization system based on the hydrogeological and thermal properties of the area concerned, and also on a review of the COP (coefficient of performance) of the geothermal heating and cooling system.

  • An earth tube soil air heat exchange system was designed, installed and operated as a single pass heat exchanger to utilize the geothermal energy as an natural energy source. This study was undertaken to investigate the potential of the heating and cooling, energy gain, heat exchange efficiency and coefficient of performance of the system. The system consisted of 30m in length and 30cm in diameter polyethylene pipes buried 2m deep in soil. Maximum heating and cooling performance were 2.51㎾ and 1.26㎾ at the air mass rate of 21cmm. Energy gain and coefficient of performance were the function of temperature difference between outside air and soil temperature. They were expressed as Q=0.33$ imes$$Delta T_{max}$+0.134(㎾) for energy gain and COP=0.44$ imes$$Delta T_{max}$+0.178 for coefficient of performance with correlation factor of 0.95. The mean of heat exchange efficiencies was 85.6%.

  • Two step serial load induction superheater has been proposed using resonance type induction heat method in this paper. Heat method is a type of flowing the electron induction and current to special alloy heater in body from external heat coil with non-contact method. Inverter was a full bridge serial load resonance type and inductor was used as load in LC resonance design to maximize the efficiency. The developed system is a new heat exchanging method combined with electromagnetic induction heater and fluid movement, ana very accurate to control of heating the gas, liquid and evaporated mass, so on without combustion process.

  • The ground source heat pump system is increasingly being considered as an alternative to traditional heating and cooling systems to reduce the emission of ground house gases. In this paper, A series of numerical analysis for energy piles has been performed focusing on heat transfer efficiency, performance and thermal stress. Results of numerical analyses for the W-shape type shows more efficient heat exchange transfer than the coil type. From results of the thermo-mechanical analysis, it is shown that the concentration of thermal stress occurs around the circulating pipe and the interfaces between different materials. The largest deformation caused by thermal stress is observed in the energy pile.

Effects of Pitch Length of Stack-type EGR Cooler on Heat Exchange Characteristics in a Diesel Engine (적층형 EGR Cooler의 Pitch 길이 변화가 열교환 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • An important goal in diesel engine research is the development of a means to reduce the emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOX). The use of a cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system is one of the most effective techniques currently available for reducing nitrogen oxides. Since Particular Matter (PM) fouling reduces the efficiency of an EGR cooler, a trade-off exists between the amount of NOX and PM emissions, especially at high engine loads. In the present study, engine dynamometer experiments have been performed to investigate the heat exchange characteristics of the stack-type EGR coolers with wave fin pitches of 3.6 and 4.6 mm. The results show that the heat exchange effectiveness is decreased as surface area decrease with pitch of 4.6 mm due to PM fouling. As surface area increase at pitch of 3.6 mm, super-cooling happens in the recirculated exhaust gas.

  • Recently, diesel engine has been frequently applied to RV, SUV and light duty truck due to the good fuel economy and high thermal efficiency. $NO_x$ and PM, environmental pollution materials are basically produced in diesel combustion process. The most important target in diesel engine research is the development of system to reduce the emissions of $NO_x$ and PM. Cooled EGR system is an effective method for the reduction of $NO_x$ emission and PM emission from a diesel engine and EGR cooler is the key component of the system. This study investigates the EGR cooler of oval gas tubes compared with the EGR cooler of shell & tubes to verify the heat exchange efficiency of cooler by means of engine dynamometer tests, rig performance tests and numerical analyses.

  • 수냉형 인버터는 냉각 시 칠러를 사용하게 되는데 칠러는 입력 냉각수의 온도가 높을수록 열교환 효율이 높아져 소비전력이 감소한다. 하지만 인버터는 입력 냉각수의 온도가 높을수록 손실이 증가하게 되므로 수냉형 인버터는 각각의 출력 부하에 따라 최대 효율 점이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 각각의 출력 부하에서 냉각수 온도 제어를 통해 수냉형 인버터의 최대 효율점을 추적하는 방법을 제안한다.

현장탐방 - 광역상수를 이용한 수온차 수축열 냉난방시스템

  • 최근 온실가스 배출량 감축 의무화, 고유가 지속에 따른 에너지 시장의 불안, 화석연료의 고갈 등에 따라 신재생에너지에 대한 관심이 크게 증대하고 있다. 따라서 에너지효율 개선을 위해 신축 빌딩을 중심으로 신재생에너지 설비가 크게 주목받고 있다. 본지는 (주)정도설비가 서울시 송파구 신천동 일대 L건설현장에서 시공중인 '광역상수를 이용한 수온차 수축열 냉난방시스템'에 대해 알아본다. 이 시스템은 송파대로를 통과하는 광역상수도 배관(800mm)내 원수(50,000톤/일)의 일정 수온차를 이용해 열교환 후 냉난방에 이용하는 것으로, 건물의 전체 냉난방부하의 약 12%를 담당(설치용량 약3,000RT)할 예정이며 연간 6,800Mwh의 에너지를 절감할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
