  • In a pressurized water reactor, radioactive corrosion products (CRUD) in primary coolant system are one of the major sources for the occupational radiation exposure of the personnel in a nuclear power plant. Through the recent trend of long term fuel cycle in a nuclear power plant, radioactive corrosion products deposited in reactor core for a long time are also the cause of Axial Offset Anomaly (AOA) having an effect on reactor power by the hideout of boron. CRUD consist primarily of magnetite, nickel ferrite, cobalt ferrite, and so on. They have the characteristic of strong magnetism. Therefore it is peformed the conceptual design to develop the filter which removes the CRUD by magnetic field that is generated by an arrangement of permanent and electric magnets. Contrary to the conventional filter, the proposed filter does not interrupt the fluid flow, so there is little pressure drop and it can be used continuously. It is expected to be applied as one of the technologies for removal of the CRUD.

  • In this paper, it is suggested that the selection method of parameter of Power System Stabilizer(PSS) with robustness in low frequency oscillation for Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor(TCSC) using Geletic Algorithm(GA). A TCSC meddle consists of a stories capacitor and a parallel path with a thyristor valve and a series inductor. Also in in parallel, as is typical with series capacitor applications, is a metal-oxide varistor(MOV) for overvoltage protection. The proposed PSS parameters are optimized using GA in order to maintain optimal operation of TCSC which is expected to be applied in transmission system to achieve a number of benefits under the various operating conditions. In order to verify the robustness of the proposed method, we considered the dynamic response of angular velocity deviation and terminal voltage deviation under a power fluctuation and rotor angle variation.

A Study on Removal of Organics, Nitrogen and Phoschorus of Domestic Wastewater in Pilot-Scale Upflow Packed Bed Column Reactor (Pilot 규모의 상향류식 충전탑 반응기를 이용한 생활오수의 유기물 및 질소, 인 처리에 관한 연구)

  • This study used biofilm process, which needs simple operation, maintenance and smaller facility area than conventional activated sludge process with the small plant operation, in the treatment of increasing sewage with the rapid industrial growth. The reactor used in this study consists of one anaerobic and one aerobic chamber filled with waste ceramic and waste vinyl as media and the treated sewage was from restaurant source. The experiment was scaled up from lab. to pilot scale and lasted for about 100 days. We focused on the removal efficiency of organics, nitrogen and phosphorus with constant HRT and continuous aeration. The removal efficiency of $BOD_5$ and SS were 94.33% and 87.77% respectively, which was a satisfaction level. However the removal efficiency of $COD_{Cr}$ was 81.46% somewhat below the desired level of 90%, and that of T-N and T-P showed 71.92% and 21.10% respectively, that was below the expected value. The removal efficiency of $COD_{Cr}$ and T-N in the pilot scale was about 10% low compared with the lab.-scale.

  • 본 연구는 '99년 7월에 벤처형 중소기업 기술개발 지원사업으로 신규 계약된 과제로서 상수원수의 전처리 및 하수 2차 침전수의 재처리 공정에 활용될 생물 산화 여과지를 개발하는 것이다. 생물 산화 여과 system은 상수 원수의 전처리, 상수도의 고도정수 처리, 하수 및 폐수처리에 이용될 수 있는 것으로, 특히 물리적 여과기능과 포기 과정을 통한 산화 기능을 포함하는 생물학적 분해 및 자연정화처리환경을 유지하여 수질이 악화된 상수도의 전·후처리나 하.폐수의 3차 처리에 적용하기 위한 것이다. 생물 산화 여과 시스템은 여과지의 하부 장치에 균등한 공기(산소)공급시설을 하여 여과층에 연속적으로 공기를 공급하면서 여과를 함으로서 생물막 여과 및 산화 기능으로 유기물질, 철, 망간 등을 제거하고 공기의 부상력에 의하여 조류, 부유물질, 냄새 등을 동시에 제거하는 System이다. 현재 상수처리 공정으로서의 생물 산화 여과지 개발을 위해 Bench-scale과 semi-pilot plant를 거쳐 Y시 M취수장애 pilot plant를 설치하여 연구를 진행중에 있으며, 또한, G시 G하수처리장에 하수처리 공정에 관한 연구를 위해 pilot plant를 설치하고 하수 3차 처리와 저농도 하·폐수 처리를 중심으로 연구중에 있다. 아래의 연구 결과는 정수처리 공정 연구를 위한 Bench-scale plant실험을 통해 얻은 결과치이며 현재까지 진행된 연구는 주로 정수처리 공정 중심으로 이루어 졌으나 pilot plant에서는 정수 및 하수처리에서의 생물산화여과공정의 연구가 진행중이다. 현재 연구가 진행중이므로 각 인자별 최적운전조건 등은 계속적인 실험과 연구를 통해 찾아지겠으나 현재까지 수행된 연구자료를 기반으로 볼 때 생물산화 여과장치는 탁도, SS, VSS 등의 제거에 탁월한 효능을 보이고 있다. 수처리용 장치로서의 이러한 기본적인 기능 이외에 NPOC, DOC 제거에도 뛰어난 효능을 보이고 있으며 특히 정수처리 공정에서 문제시 되고 있는 동절기 암모니아성 질소제거 또한 큰 가능성을 보여주고 있다. 그 동안 외국기술에 전면 의존해 오던 생물 산화 여과방식의 국내개발은 비용 절감뿐만 아니라 국내 실정에 맞는 기술개발이라는 점에서 향후 그 적용 범위를 넓혀 갈 수 있을 것이다.

  • rate of outflow is equated to the total rate of flow, both the state equation and its linearized equation yield almost identical oscillations of water levels. This shows that effects of pipe resistance on the surges are small, and justifies a free oscillation analysis. Free oscillation equation has six eigen modes of different periods, including a rigid mode which is existed when the pumped rate of outflow differs from the total rate of inflow. The six modes constitute a variety of surges dependent on different inflow and outflow conditions. Presence of the rigid mode needs sophisticated pump operations adjusted to real flood inflows.

  • Operation Abstract : Operational cost required for navigating a ship may differ from according to type, scale, economic speed, navigation area and other factors. However, it is known that the fuel oil price ratio takes 50~60 %. It is the current trend because of the use of poor quality fuel and it is reviewed even for small to medium sized ships to save the operational costs due to the recent rise of international oil price. Furthermore, ocean carriers are taking action to low speed navigation as the alternative method of reducing fuel consumption. Hence, in this study, fuel consumption of main engine was measured by using actual operating ship data compared with sea speed at sea. It was suggested that the area of M/E's load(70 %) lower than NCR is the optimal navigating condition through the relation between speed and fuel consumption compared with advance ratio together with the load.

  • Sample calculations were done for KORI-1 to develop a better understanding of what happens after very small LOCA ($\leq$0.05 ft$^2$). For a water-side break with the break size larger than 0.006 ft$^2$, fluid-loss through break exceeds the makeup. If the break size is larger than 0.008ft$^2$, decay heat can be completely removed through break. Based on these results, it was concluded that KORI-1 is fairly safe for the whole spectrum of sizes in very small LOCA. However, for the reactor with 900 MWe or 1200 MWe, a certain spectrum of sizes in very small LOCA should be carefully considered. In the accident sequence the transition from natural circulation to pool boiling or from pool boiling to natural circulation may be troublesome to the operator or in the safety analysis. Operator's intervention was discussed; primary pump shutoff, HPI pump shutoff, break isolation, and opening relief valve. It was proved that continuous operation of HPI pumps after shutdown will not threaten the integrity of the primary system.

Ultrafiltration Treatment for Car Washing Effluent (한외여과막을 이용한 자동차 세척배수의 처리)

  • The car washing effluent containing various oils and detergent was treated by ultrafiltration membranes. Dead-end type stirred cell (Amicon 8050) with 10, 30 and lOOk dalton membranes was used to determine permeation and rejection characteristics for the car washing effluent. In case of low molecular weight cut-off membranes, the effect of membrane fouling was weak under the applied pressures. However, the permeation flux for YM100 membrane(look dalton) may be affected by oil layer formation on the membrane surface as well as oil particle plugging for a part of membrane pores due to compressible and deformable oil properties. Oil and particle rejections in the permeates were over 95%, but detergent was passed easily through the membranes. Hence, the permeates containing detergent can be recycled to the system, and may reduce water pollution. Also, the car washing effluent was treated continuously by a capillary type ultrafiltration membrane of MWCO 50k dalton. The experimental data were fitted suitably to the cake filtration model.

Permeation Characteristics of the Tubular Membrane Module Equipped wtih the Air Injection Nozzle Tube (공기주입 노즐관이 장착된 관형막의 투과특성)

  • The air injection nozzle tube was inserted inside of the tubular membrane module to reduce membrane fouling and improve the permeate flux. The average pore size of membrane was $0.1\;{\mu}m$ and the yeast was used as a foulant. All of permeate experiments were started without air injection for the module equipped with the nozzle tube, then carried out continuously with air injection. Finally, the nozzle tube was removed from the module and the permeate was measured without air injection. The measured permeate fluxes were compared to examine the effect of air injection. The fluxes for air injection were consistently maintained or increased. The fluxes of no-air injection with the nozzle tube were greater than those of the empty tubular module. As operating pressure decreased to 0.4 bar, the flux enhancement of air injection based on no-nozzle case increased to 21%. Flux enhancements of air injection were above 30% as the gas/liquid two-phase flow was changed from the stratified-smooth to the intermittent pattern due to increase of gas flowrate.

Development of a Direct-Connected Supersonic Combustor Test Facility (직결형 초음속 연소기 시험 설비 개발)

  • A direct-connected, continuous type combustion test facility was developed to test a supersonic combustor model used in scramjet engines. The facility requirements were determined by assuming the flight speed of Mach 5, yielding the combustor inlet flow speed of Mach 2. Also the cross-section of the supersonic combustor under test was assumed as $32mm{\times}70mm$. As a result, the facility was designed to have the flow total pressure of 548 kPaA, total temperature of 1,320 K, and flow rate of 0.776 kg/s. The facility consists of a turbo type air compressor, electric air heater, vitiation air heater and a two dimensional facility nozzle to accelerate the flow to Mach 2. Also, an oxygen supply system was added to compensate the vitiation. The exhaust de-pressurization system is not added. Designed pressure, temperature, and flow rate were verified through the test operation of the facility.
