폴리카보네이트 판재의 재활용을 위한 자기연마 가공 (An Experimental Study on Magnetic Assisted Polishing of Polycarbonate Plate for Recycling)

  • This study has focused on transparency recovering of the polycarbonate by polishing its surface for recycling. The polycarbonate has many properties such as excellent mechanical strength, electrical insulating, superior heat resistance to other plastic material and especially good transparency. It has been used as barrier for the traffic noise at the roadside and the greenhouse for the palm house. But the polycarbonate has changed slightly as time goes by 10 years because of exposure to the strong sunlight and oxidization in the atmosphere, as result has lost its transparency. Magnetic assisted polishing has been utilized as an effective polishing method to recover the transparency of polycarbonate. The polycarbonate which has been used for 10 years was adopted as the sample. The first surface roughness of the sample was 1$1.23{\mu}mRa$, $7.5{\mu}mRz(DIN)$ respectively. In the experimental results, it showed that the surface roughness of the polished sample improved $0.013{\mu}mRa$, $0.08{\mu}mRz(DIN)$ from the first surface roughness respectively. The surface roughness get almost back again by magnetic assisted polishing. These results also showed that the magnetic assisted polishing was efficient machining method to reuse the polycarbonate material.

크롬 도금 강의 초정밀 연마 가공특성 (Ultra-precision finishing characteristics of Coated Chrome steel)

  • In this study, The ultra-precision finishing system is applicable to all kind of the cylnderical workpiece products fast and easy. This system was applied to chrome coated steel to investigate the characteristic of grinding; (1) 3$mu extrm{m}$ of abrasive film is not use for grinding performance. (2) Grinding condition of coated chrome steel would set up differently, in 30~12${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, in 9~5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. (3) The surface roughness of chrome coated steel was about Ra 0.0009${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in abrasive grain size 5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$.

슬러리 순환방식을 이용한 파이프 내면의 자기연마특성 (The Magnetic Finishing Characteristics of Pipe Inside Polished by Slurry Circulation System)

  • An internal finishing process by the application of magnetic abrasive machining has been developed as a new technology to obtain a fine inner surface of non-ferromagnetic pipe. In this paper, an abrasive slurry circulation system was designed and manufactured. As a result, it was found that a fine inner surface of pipe was available by the use of these machining methods. The basic machining characteristics of pin-type magnetic tools were analyzed experimentally. In addition, the experimental results show that pin-type magnetic tools have more machining efficiency than Iron particles as magnetic tools.

전자재료 표면의 무결함 연마를 위한 화학기계적 균형 (Chemical and Mechanical Balance in Polishing of Electronic Materials for Defect-Free Surfaces)

  • Chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) technology is faced with the challenge of processing new electronic materials. This paper focuses on the balance between chemical and mechanical reactions in the CMP process that is required to cope with a variety of electronic materials. The material properties were classified into the following categories: easy to abrade(ETA), difficult to abrade(DTA), easy to react(ETR) and difficult to react(DTR). The chemical and mechanical balance for the representative ETA-ETR, DTA-ETR, ETA-DTR and DTA-DTR materials was considered for defect-free surfaces. This paper suggests the suitable polishing methods and examples for each electronic material.

  • The ultra-precision machining is widely used for final machining process of precision parts, so in this study, mirror surface finishing systems using the micro abrasive film, one of ultra-precision machining method, have to examine mirror surface characteristics of the cylindrical workpiece(SM45) such as surface roughness, workpiece removal and evaluated under the condition varing film feed rate, applied pressure, grinding speed after fixing other condition. It was found that varrious machining condition have significant influences on workpiece removal, surface roughness.

자력에 의한 극청정 내면의 연마가공에 관한 연구 (Polishing of Ultra-Clean Internal Surface Using Magnetic Force)

  • Recently, the technology for internal polishing is needed for ultra-clean machining for the prevention of corrosion and pollution of parts is the area of high technology industries such as semiconductor, electronics, telecommunication optics, aerospace, and motors. In this study, an internal polishing system using the magnetic force was developed for the production of ultra-clean tubes with averaged surface roughness ranging from 0.2㎛ to 0.05㎛ or less, and magnetic abrasives composed of WC/Co powder were developed, After finding the optimal condition on each, machining characteristics using newly developed abrasive were analyzed. Form the results obtained by experimental design method, the optimal polishing condition was analyzed and, thhereafter internal polishing was done.

  • An internal finishing process by the application of magnetic abrasive finishing has been developed as a new technology to obtain a fine inner surface of pipe. In this paper, another method of magnetic abrasive machining in which the N and S magnetic poles are vibrated and a workpiece is rotated only is tried in a non-ferromagnetic pipe(SUS304), and its finishing characteristics is experimently investigated by various effective factors such as vibrating frequency and amplitude. From the experimental results, it is found that the vibration effects of magnetic poles on the finishing characteristics are large in internal finishing.

입자연마가공에서의 입자크기 및 충돌각의 영향에 대한 고찰 (Effects of Abrasive Size and Impact Angle on the Contact Stress in Abrasive Machining Process)

  • In this study, finite element analysis of particle-surface collision using 2-dimensional elements was performed to observe the effects of abrasive size and impact angle. The result of the simulation on the change in abrasive size revealed that larger abrasive particle induced larger contact stress due to force transfer through slurry fluid as the particle moved and pushed the fluid. This observation brought an important finding that the slurry fluid could make the workpiece surface soften and then change the mechanical properties of the surface layer such as elastic modulus and yield strength. As for the impact angle, it was found that the contact stress increased with the angle of impact and jumped up at a specific angle. Such result would be attributed to the complex effects of the impact velocity and angle.

  • A relatively new non-traditional finishing process called Abrasive Flow Machining(AFM) is being used to deburr, polish and radius workpiece or produce compressive residual stresses by flowing an abrasive-laden viscoelastic compound across the surface to be machined. This paper presents the effects of AFM on surfaces of tool steel produced by EDM and W-EDM. Using AFM, white layer produced by EDM is erased almost equally and the amount of metal removal is significantly affected the initally machined surface condition of workpiece. The dimension of workiece is enlarged and its surface roughness is improved as AFM time is increased. The optimal AFM time can be established from the experimental results. It is considered that the grinding method lide AFM is useful to grind complex or slim geometry of workpiece even. Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) was used to study the surface characteristics of the workpiece before and after AFM.

  • Stainless steel has some excellent properties as the material for the mechanical component. Purpose of this study is carried out to obtain mirror surface on the surperfinishing of stainless steel with high efficiency. To achieve this, we have conducted a series of polishing experiment for stainless steel using abrasive film from the perspective of oscillation speed, the rotational speed of workpiece, contact roller hardness, contact pressure and feed rate. Abrasive film used this study is a micro-finishing film and a lapping film. Furthermore, the polishing characteristics and efficiency of stainless steel is discussed through measuring optimal polishing time and surface roughness. From the obtained results, it was confirmed that efficient superfinishing conditions and polishing characteristic of Stainless steel can be determined.
