Impact of the SNS Utilization and Firm's Characteristics on the Performance of the Travel agency in China (SNS 이용과 기업 특성이 성과에 미치는 영향 : 중국여행사를 중심으로)

  • The development of information technology are leading to the rapid evolution of SNS (Social Networking Services) in various directions and industries. Initially, SNS have been used as the form of networking between user's groups. Currently SNS has been developed towards multiple purposes and platforms such as the promotion and the advertising of a company. There are many SNSs including QQ, Weibo, and Wechat and so on in China. However, the use of companies in terms of advertising and information sharing with the customers do not meet the trend in China. Especially, there were little researches for Chinese travel agencies how to utilize SNS for attracting new customers and making them contribute to the firm's performance. In this study, we try to investigate the impact of the firm's characteristics and the usage of SNS on the performance of Chinese travel agencies. Based on Top 100 China travel agencies in 2009, we analyzed the relationships between firm's characteristics and the usage of SNS, and firm's performances in 2013. We expect that our study can contribute to the increasing academic and practical needs on the empirical evidence of the impacts of the SNS utilizations on the firm's performance.

  • This work aims on the one hand at the sublation of the typical image of the existing travel agencies and on the other at the making of new image that meets the clients' wishes. Looking in the face that in the existing travel agencies most clients are straying with the overflowing and selling-oriented informations, this design work pursue the image making of a new atmosphere of travel agency, in which the clients can make a rational choice. In complying with the policies of the travel agency in the Karstadt department store I have arrived at the basic design theme: the desire for travel depends on how organically and reciprocally the interest on the travel and the presentation of the travel information are combined with and permeated into each other, and furthermore how multifariously and plentifully these reciprocal combining and permeating are put on the stage. So it follows that the travel agency must let the clients indirectly experience the wished travel through staging various kinds of experience spaces. Consequentially the basic concept of the design can be summarized in the following: overlapping-transmitting and permeating-suspending.

희박한 고객 활동 데이터에서 최신성 기반 추천 성능 향상 연구

  • 최근 AI를 산업 서비스에 적용하기 위해 많은 회사들이 활발히 연구를 하고 있다. 아마존과 넷플릭스 같은 거대 기업들은 이미 빅데이터와 AI 머신러닝을 이용한 추천 시스템을 구현하였고 아마존은 매출의 35%가 추천에 의해 발생하고 넷플릭스 75%의 사용자가 추천을 통해 영화를 선택한다고 보고되었다. 이러한 두 기업의 높은 추천 효율성의 이유는 협업 필터링(Collaborative filtering)과 같은 다양한 추천 알고리즘과 방대한 상품 및 고객 행동(구매, 시청 등) 데이터 등이 존재하고 있기 때문이다. 기계학습에서 알고리즘 학습을 위한 데이터의 양이 많지 않을 경우 알고리즘의 성능을 보장할 수 없다는 것이 일반적인 의견이다. 방대한 데이터를 가진 기업에서 추천 알고리즘을 적극적으로 활용 및 연구하고 있는 것도 이러한 이유 때문이다. 반면, 오프라인 및 여행사 기반에서 온라인 기반으로 영역을 차츰 확대하고 있는 항공 서비스 고객 데이터의 경우, 산업의 특성상 많은 회원에 비해 고객 1명당 온라인에서 활동하는 이력이 많지 않은 것이 특징이다. 이는, 추천 알고리즘을 통한 서비스 제공에서 큰 제약사항으로 작용한다. 본 연구에서는, 이러한 희박한 고객 활동 데이터에서 최신성 기반의 추천 시스템을 통하여 제약사항을 극복하고 추천 효율을 높이는 방법을 제안한다. 고객의 최근 접속 이력 로그를 시간 기준으로 데이터 셋을 분할하여 추천 알고리즘에 반영하였을 때, 추천된 노선에 대한 고객의 반응을 추천 성능 지표인 CTR(Click-Through Rate)로 측정하여 성능을 확인해 보았다.

  • Recently, due to advances in information technologies, the trend of tour types has been changing from package tour to independent tour. Independent tour is a tour which a traveler collect airplane ticket, travel destinations, sightseeing time, transport, lodging and plan traveling schedules by oneself. But the traveler has many difficulties for predicting tour schedules, due to lack of adequate information of travel destinations. In this study, traveling schedule prediction method which to minimize the cumulative fatigue of tourist for use of unnecessary transport is proposed using travelling salesman problem algorithm. It is considered moving time between sightseeing, sightseeing time on destination and traveling time for a day.

Factors Influencing Operation of Travel Agency Services (여행업 경영에 영향을 주는 요인)

  • Recent studies on business performance in the operation of travel agency services note the importance of non-financial factors, in addition to financial factors. They also indicate that in order to enhance the business performance in travel agency services, it is necessary to emphasize the most competitive key factors based on the understanding of the circumstances with which those services are faced. The analyses of business performance in travel services and of related research Papers have showed that the major factors influencing the operation of travel agency services include the relationship with tourism-related companies the introduction of e-commerce and knowledge-based management, the services of employed workers, and brand awareness and advertising. The present study attempts to propose an approach to the efficient operation of travel agency services by reviewing and analyzing the different studies regarding these factors. To do so, this study employs the existing study reports and publications related to the operation of travel services, focusing mainly on literature review. The paper is composed of four chapters: The first is an introductory chapter; Chapter 2 provides the theoretical background; in Chapter 3 an analysis of the previous studies is attempted; and Chapter 4 presents the results of analysis and other considerable suggestions.

Burnout and Coping Strategies among Tourism Service Employees (관광서비스 종사원의 소진 현상과 대처 전략)

  • The purpose of this paper is that investigates a model of burnout and coping strategy employees in out-bound travel agency. So, we investigated the relationship between burnout variables(emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduces personal accomplishment) and employee's job satisfaction, intentions to resign. And we suggest that coping strategies will control the relationship between burnout and job attitude. We used social support, self esteem, and leisure involvement as a coping method. Data obtained from survey of frontline employees working in the several outbound travel agencies in Seoul, Korea. In the result, it has strong relationships between burnout and job-relative components. Perceived burnout phenomenon has negatively effect on job satisfaction and positively effect on resign intention. Coping variables controled in the relationship between burnout and job satisfaction. In the practical implications, managers can take an action as like a social support to reduce employee's burnout. And employee has activity hobby for reducing the burnout.

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate office location dynamic in Seoul and to analyze comparatively the office activities of emerging office centers. Since mid 1980s, the expansion of office employment and spatial differentiation of the office-type jobs have changed the employment and spatial structure of Seoul. The major employment centers are CBD, Kangnam district and Youido. Among these, CBD and Kangnam have developed as the two leading centers of Seoul. Youido, the typical office-oriented center, shares CBD functions especially specializing security business. Selective decentralization of offices made qualitative differences among the centers. In spite of vigorous office decentralization, CBD has kept the principal offices of finance and insurance, travel agencies, advertising agencies, management consulting firms, major public institutions and headquarters of upper 100 companies in Korea. But the offices of producer services such as law, architects, engineering and computer consulting and real estates and headquarters of upper 5000 companies in Korea have been decentralized dominantly to Kangnam.

So, Relationship marketing will lays a foundation of new travel agency's environment through competitive of relation to travel agency and travel agency, travel agency and hotel or travel agency and airplane. This study's object are present relationships between travel agency and travel relation enterprise of cooperation, complication and competitiveness to relation form. And this study are presents suggestion to generate of hereafter travel relation enterprise through study on relationship with hotel and airplane. A final object of this study are presents a model applys relation method of travel agency and travel agency, hotel and airplane through inspect to specialist analysis. In the result of study, Travel agency are low position and difficult with hotel and airplane at the cooperation but acually It's difficult with travel relation enterprise. So, Travel agency will be operates characteritic system and regulations for win with travel relation enterprise for efficiency of working more than hotel and airplane. Airplane is the best big travel relation enterprise. So, The most airplane has to high cooperate with travel agency. That's why airplane keep going close cooperation with travel agency. Travel agency has to close cooperate with hotels secondly through marketing, exchanging information and union advertisement etc. Hotels are low in complications than travel agency but high in complications than airplane. Although travel relation enterprise are different system individually, because of all of us working with union object, Travel agency and travel compliment-cooperation relationship.relation enterprise has to autonomy behavior with close cooperation through.

A Social Network Analysis of Tourism Destinations in Package Tourism Products (패키지 관광 상품에 포함된 관광목적지들 간의 사회 네트워크 분석)

  • This paper aims to analyze destination composition patterns included in package products and to identify the characteristics of the tourism destinations through social network analysis using data collected from tour packages distributed by major Korean travel agencies, targeting Singapore as a key destination. Such tour package data were transcribed into data matrix using Pajek, UCINET, and Cytoscape for analysis. The density and centralization scores derived from the analysis indicated clearly that each destination was almost connected to each other. The centrality scores indicated that the destinations with higher degree of centrality also has higher betweenness centrality within the network. Based on centrality scores, POI(point of interests) of tourism destinations showed concentration in southern area of the target region. Finally, through component analysis, subgroups of tourism destination networks are isolated. Practical implications were also presented for industry practitioners.

A system design for hotel reservation of the on-line travel agency using an opaque product (불명확 제품을 활용한 온라인 여행사의 호텔 예약 체계 설계)

  • Purpose: There are lots of efforts to increase the revenue of on-line travel agency due to the extreme competition in the hospitality industry. One of the way to improve the revenue is applying new concepted service for their business. In this study, it is introduced an innovative system design of hotel reservation for the on-line travel agency using the concept of an opaque product. Methods: By adopting the opaque product at the hotel reservation system, the reservation requests can increase because the customer tends to feel that they purchase the hotel service with relatively cheap price. The overall process for an innovative hotel reservation system is presented and the core algorithm to implement this system is also suggested through a mathematical model based optimization method. Results: To validate and to examine the proposed process and core algorithm, a numerical example is provided with the modified data of the hotels in Seoul metropolitan city. The discount prices and the overall revenue of hotels are generated according to hotel grade. Conclusion: It is confirmed that the revenue of the hotel tends to increase according to its grade. This is because that the customer want to use the new service which applying the concept of opaque product when the higher discount ratio are decided for lower grade hotels.
