A Study on the Performance Prediction of Fire Extinguish System in Aircraft Engine Bay (항공기 엔진베이 내 소화장치 성능예측을 위한 연구)

  • Fuel or oil which is leaked into the aircraft engine bay can make a fire when it is contacted to the engine surface of hot temperature. In order to avoid fire, the fire extinguish system should be designed so that the extinguishing agent is quickly injected and its concentration keeps higher in the fire protection region. FAA requires that the extinguishing agent injected within the fire protection region should be sustained longer than 0.5 second on keeping a higher concentration than 6%. For developing a fire protection system satisfying the FAA regulation, numerical and experimental studies for the injection time and the concentration of the extinguishing agent were conducted. These results showed similar trend for the injection time or concentration, but the data acquisition was delayed due to the response of the sensors in the experiment.

  • 액체로켓엔진 조립을 위한 엔진 조립장이 국내에 구축되어야 하며 이에 대하여 국내의 사례가 없으므로 해외 엔진 조립장의 사례를 조사하였다. SNECMA, EADS, Rocketdyne 등의 조립장의 구조, 레이아웃, 청정설비, 크레인 등을 조사하였다. SNECMA 엔진조립장은 Vulcain 엔진의 대형엔진 조립라인 및 HM7, Vinci 엔진 등의 소형엔진 조립라인으로 구성되어 있다. 청정도는 코어 및 Subassembly 조립실은 100 K class 이며, 기타 나머지 조립공간은 300K class로 구축되어 있다. EADS의 엔진 조립장은 중앙에 연소기 부품을 가공하는 가공장비들이 배치된 하이베이 구역이 있으며, 이 하이베이 구역의 측면에 사무실, 측정실, 회의실 등의 로우베이 기능실들이 배치되어 있다. Rocketdyne 엔진 조립시설은 청정도 300K class이하의 엄격한 청정도 관리가 없는 것으로 보이며 치구형태의 개별 플랫폼을 사용하여 공간 활용을 효율적으로 할 수 있도록 하고 있다.

  • An ejector is designed for the purpose of engine bay cooling. The primary flow of the ejector is the exhaust gas of the PW206C turboshaft engine. The mass flow of secondary flow is calculated by using the approximate analytic equation. For the purpose of verification of approximate analytic method, comparison is made with the results of Navier-Stokes turbulent flow solution. According to the results of CFD, the mixing of two flows is incomplete due to the short length of mixing duct.

  • 최근 디지털 TV방송서비스의 보급으로 채널의 수와 그에 따른 프로그램의 수가 많아짐에 따라 시청자는 모든 프로그램의 정보를 미리 알고 있는 것이 힘들어 졌다. 모든 채널과 방송 프로그램을 탐색하고 자신의 취향에 맞는 프로그램을 찾아 보기 어려워진 문제를 해결하고자 영화, 상품 등의 분야에 국한 되었던 추천연구 분야도 TV채널 까지 확대할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 TV시청 기록을 분석하여 사용자 프로파일 테이블을 구성하고, 베이시안 네트워크와 시계열 분석 이론을 접목하여 추천엔진을 구현하는 TV채널 추천 엔진을 제안한다.

  • Tandem-ejector has been devised for engine-bay cooling. In this study, 1-D model has been developed to analyze Tandem-ejector. In the model, the primary, the secondary and the tertiary flow conditions have been analyzed with isentropic process. The mixing process has been analyzed with conservation laws based on the control volume analysis. The total pressure loss of the primary flow has been analyzed under the matching condition between the static pressure of Tandem-ejector discharge flow and atmospheric pressure. Consequently, 1-D model can predict Tandem-ejector performance accurately and provide the performance map.

  • There is fire dangers inside engine bay where fuel of oil leakge can be ignited by hot engine surfaces. So, Fire suppressor is needed to extinguish the flames. The current FAA requirement is that the concentration level should be greater than 6% by volume throughtout the protected zone for longer than a half second simultaneously. To Satisfy the FAA requirement, The Fire extinguish system should quickly delivery the fire extinguish agents and Fire extinguish system should be designed effectively. This study is to develop and simulate the injection of fire extinguish agents into the engine-bay. Transient simulations were performed and predicted the concentration of fire extinguish agents at the certain locatioin in the engine-bay.

  • In this paper, we introduce an adaptive e-Learning system for engineering mathematics which is based on computer algebra system (Mathematica) and on-line authoring environment. The system provides an assessment tool for individual diagnosis using Bayesian inference network. Using this system, an instructor can easily develop mathematical web contents via web interface. Examples of such content development are illustrated in the area of linear algebra, differential equation and discrete mathematics. The diagnostic module traces a student's knowledge level based on statistical inference using the conditional probability and Bayesian updating algorithm via Netica. As part of formative evaluation, we brought this system into real university settings and analyzed students' feedback using survey.

  • In this paper, we present an on-line quiz authoring software that helps teachers create an intelligent on-line quiz. It is designed to give each student appropriate diagnostic report using Bayesian inference networks that represent the relationships among knowledge-items. Once the authors design and edit quizzes in quiz authoring page, the authoring tool automatically produces a knowledge-model based on Bayesian inference network, on-line quizzes, and student report pages. It turns out that the on-line quizzes generated by this tool help students identify their weak parts of subject, make learning strategies for the next learning steps and carry out supplementary learning for their weak knowledge-items.

  • This paper describes the e-learning system for science and engineering mathematics using computer algebra system and Bayesian inference network. The best feature of this system is using one of the most recent mathematical dynamic web content authoring model which is called client independent dynamic web content authoring model and using the Bayesian inference network for diagnosing student's learning. The authoring module using computer algebra system provides teacher-user with easy way to make dynamic mathematical web contents. The diagnosis module using Bayesian inference network helps students know the weaker parts of their learning, in this way our system determines appropriate next learning sequences in order to provide supplementary learning feedback.

  • This study has been conducted to develop an ejector system applied in the aircraft engine-bay ventilation system. Tandem-Ejector was selected as a component of ventilation system because it could achieve high ventilation performance in spite of motive flow with small flow rate. Tandem-Ejector is composed of a primary nozzle and two mixing ducts ($1^{st}$ mixing duct and $2^{nd}$ mixing duct). In this study, 1-D Tandem-Ejector model has been built with conservation laws and isentropic relation for 1-D ejector sizing and performance prediction. Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) has been conducted to investigate ejector performance and flow characteristics in the ejector. Also, Tandem-Ejector performance tests have been conducted to obtain ejector pumping performance and to investigate stand-off (gap between primary nozzle and $1^{st}$ mixing duct inlet) effect on ejector pumping performance.
