문제점 해결기법을 이용한 에너지절감 방안

  • 건물 에너지 절감을 할 수 있는 방안을 찾고자 한다. 문제점 해결 기법을 이용하여 건물에너지를 절감할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 건물 에너지 사용 실태를 분석하고, 에너지 사용용도별로 구분하여 에너지를 절감할 수 있는 방법을 찾아 활용할 수 있도록 한다.

  • 본 논문은 센서 노드들을 grid 방식의 클러스터링을 통하여 그룹화하고 이벤트의 유무에 따라서 노드들의 sleep-time을 조절하여 에너지 절감 효과를 얻으며, 또한 하위 클러스터링을 통신망 중심으로 구성함으로서 QoS를 보장하는 이동노드 추적 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 sleep-time 을 관리하는 이동노드 추적 기법들은 에너지 절감의 극대화에는 성공했지만 QoS 문제를 간과하는 경향을 보여주었다. 제시하는 기법은 두 개의 계층으로 이루어지는 grid를 이용해서 두 메트릭을 동시에 충족시킨다. 또한 본 논문은 이 기법을 바탕으로 설계된 이동노드 추적 framework를 제안한다. 시뮬레이션 결과로 이 방식이 기존의 sleep-time 관리 기법들보다 에너지 절감 효과가 뛰어나지 않았지만 QoS의 보장률이 높았고, sleep-time관리가 없는 기존의 기법과 비교하여 많은 에너지를 절감했다.

Bus Splitting Techniques for MPSoC to Reduce Bus Energy (MPSoC 플랫폼의 버스 에너지 절감을 위한 버스 분할 기법)

  • Bus splitting technique reduces bus energy by placing modules with frequent communications closely and using necessary bus segments in communications. But, previous bus splitting techniques can not be used in MPSoC platform, because it uses cache coherency protocol and all processors should be able to see the bus transactions. In this paper, we propose a bus splitting technique for MPSoC platform to reduce bus energy. The proposed technique divides a bus into several bus segments, some for private memory and others for shared memory. So, it minimizes the bus energy consumed in private memory accesses without producing cache coherency problem. We also propose a task allocation technique considering cache coherency protocol. It allocates tasks into processors according to the numbers of bus transactions and cache coherence protocol, and reduces the bus energy consumption during shared memory references. The experimental results from simulations say the bus splitting technique reduces maximal 83% of the bus energy consumption by private memory accesses. Also they show the task allocation technique reduces maximal 30% of bus energy consumed in shared memory references. We can expect the bus splitting technique and the task allocation technique can be used in multiprocessor platforms to reduce bus energy without interference with cache coherency protocol.

  • The recent electric power shortage has led to the vigorous study for energy conservation in the many different fields. In this paper, cell zooming technology, which can reduce the energy loss at the base stations controlling the transmission power of the stations depending on the changing trffic density for reduce energy consumption that occurs when there is little or no trffic in the service area, is proposed and energy conservation is confirmed by comparing base stations' service scenario depending on traffic change.

  • Energy conservation of server systems has become important. Though storage subsystem is one of the biggest power consumers, development of energy conservation techniques is challenging problem due to striping techniques like RAID and physical characteristics of hard disks. According to our observation, the size of footprint for a day or for hours is much smaller compared to the size of whole data set. In this paper, we describe a design of a novel architecture for RAID that uses an SSD as a large cache to conserve energy by holding such a footprint. We incorporate these approaches into a real implementation of a RAID 5 system that consists of four hard disks and an SSD in a Linux environment. Our preliminary results in actual performance measurements using the cello99 and SPC traces show that energy consumption is reduced by a maximum of 14%.

  • We propose energy-efficient scheduling considering real-time constraints and energy efficiency in smart mobile with heterogeneous multi-core structure. Recently, high-performance applications such as VR, AR, and 3D game require real-time and high-level processings. The big.LITTLE architecture is applied to smart mobiles devices for high performance and high energy efficiency. However, there is a problem that the energy saving effect is reduced because LITTLE cores are not properly utilized. This paper proposes a heterogeneous multi-core assignment technique that improves real-time performance and high energy efficiency with big.LITTLE architecture. Our proposed method optimizes the energy consumption and the execution time by predicting the actual task execution time using SVM (Support Vector Machine). Experiments on an off-the-shelf smartphone show that the proposed method reduces energy consumption while ensuring the similar execution time to legacy schemes.

  • The ESS(Energy Saving System) is designed to have functions of controlling. monitoring for cooling system. etc. ESS consists of the I/O module, CPU module and Display module I/O module detects various ESS data on local area and treats signals via I/O interface system. The interface system receives various status data and outputs control signals. ESS is tested with dummy signal to verify proposed functions and is shown good results. For future study ESS will be tested under real condition in the ship.

  • In this study, we propose an Energy-Aware Web service to optimize energy efficiency using the characteristics of the system load. Currently, the service scale of data center is growing and the range of its applications is enlarged, causing interest in energy conservation. In particular, the web service has the largest proportion among various services of the data center. We propose a new energy saving method for web services guaranteeing the performance requirements of the services. The proposed method is optimized through the differences of energy-consumption rate over the system load. Performance evaluation has been performed under conditions similar to the actual service. The results indicated that the maximum energy reduction by the proposed method is up to 30% better than the existing methods.

  • Guidelines and institutional support for buildings are being promoted around the world as measures for environmental pollution and energy conservation. In Korea, standards are prepared according to the energy saving design standards of new buildings as amended in 2013.09.01 and the zero energy building for new buildings mandatory process is being prepared from the recommendations. Nevertheless, the government's binding power on smaller buildings is insufficient. Energy savings were analyzed for the recently constructed office buildings (application of external insulation technique) and propose a dual envelope techniques were proposed for energy reduction.

  • 배터리를 사용하여 정보의 처리와 센싱 작업을 수행하는 무선 센서 네트워크를 오래 동안 가동시키기 위해서 한정된 자원을 효율적으로 사용할 수 있는 여러 기술들이 제안되고 있다. 이런 기법들 중 클러스터를 구성하거나, 데이터 모음 기법을 수행하여 중복된 데이터를 하나의 패킷으로 압축하여 전송 횟수를 줄이면 에너지 절감 효과를 볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 클러스터 구조를 이루고 있는 센서 네트워크에서 두개 이상의 클러스터가 중복된 지역을 센싱 할 경우 발생하는 중복 데이터 제거 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 Meta-data를 사용한 사전 교섭으로 동일한 정보가 각각 다른 클러스터에 전송되는 것을 방지하여 에너지 절감 효과를 볼 수 있다. 또한, 클러스터 내에서 발생하는 다른 정보들을 시간 지연 기법을 사용하여 하나의 패킷으로 데이터 모음을 수행하는 기법도 제안한다. 성능 평가를 통해 제안하는 알고리즘은 기존의 기법에 비하여 지연 시간과 에너지 소모 면에서 모두 효율적인 것을 확인할 수 있다.
