  • This study was aimed at investigating the applicability of energy harvesting technologies, which are regarded as new and renewable energy sources for real-time/wireless monitoring of intelligent railroad vehicles. The surrounding energy generated in a normal operating environment was monitored using a high-speed railroad vehicle in operation. This monitoring was performed in an attempt to evaluate the effectives of energy harvesting and the applicability of energy-harvesting-monitoring technologies under the conditions in which thermal energy and vibration energy are generated.

  • In recent years, as safety management in underground mines has become more important in the worldwide, mine safety management technologies combining information communication technology such as real-time worker position tracking, monitoring system and equipment remote control have been developed. Wireless communication system is mainly applied to these technologies for the flexibility of network configuration. There are some cases the monitoring system was installed in domestic underground mines, but, it is necessary to develop the technology more suitable for domestic mining standard. In this study, we developed the real-time environmental monitoring system using ZigBee technology and examined the result of application to domestic limestone mine. Furthermore, applicability of the developed environment monitoring system to $VentSim^{TM}$ LiveView was checked. This study is expected to contribute to the related studies like the optimization of the ventilation system in underground mines.

  • An integrated real-time monitoring software for coastal environment has been developed by using GUI. The system consists of modeling module, real-time monitoring module, and post-processing module of the modeling and monitoring results. The system was applied to a port construction site. The main purpose for the system is to setup the information system that user can obtain the environmental information easily and quickly. The system can be used to monitor environmental changes due to construction activities in coastal waters and to assess environmental impacts accurately in real-time. In conclusion, the system will be a good tool for finding out countermeasures to lessen water pollution and clean seawater.

  • This study was intended to identify the applicability of energy harvesting technologies for powering a wireless health monitoring sensor system of railroad vehicle. As measuring surrounding energy under the normal operation environment, it is possible to predict amount of the applicable energy. The results of energy prediction represents the feasibility of power sources for wireless sensor systems through energy harvesting technologies under the circumstance in which the thermal energy and vibration energy are generated.

  • 웹서비스는 표준 프로토콜인 HTTP를 이용하기 때문에 방화벽의 제약이 없어서 어디서나 실시간으로 통신하여야 하는 모니터링 시스템 특성상 꼭 필요한 기술이다. 또한, XML로 기술된 SOAP 메시지는 플랫폼 독립적이고, 시스템 확장과 통합에 유리하다. 본 논문에서 구현한 웹모니터링 시스템은 웹서비스를 이용하여 설치가 용이하고, 인터넷을 통해 원격지의 태양광 발전 시스템을 관리, 감시하는데 제약이 없으며, 신재생에너지 산업 통합에 적용될 수 있다.

  • 현재 전력계통분야에서 신재생에너지원을 이용한 분산전원 (DG, Distributed Generation)이 확대 보급됨에 따라 이에 대한 기술의 높은 신뢰성 및 경제성이 높아지고 있는 시점이다. 이에 따라 분산전원의 효율 적운용을 위한 모니터링 장치의 필요성이 또한 증대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 신재생에너지원 중 대표적인 태양 광발전시스템의 현재 상태 (전압 전류, 전력, 위상, 주파 수)를 계통의 모니터링을 위해 제작한 ATmega 128(AVR)이 내장된 Power Line Data Acquisition Board와 현재 널리 통용되는 GUI시스템인 $LabVIEW^{TM}$를 이용하여 컴퓨터를 통한 태양광발전시스템을 모니터링 하는 프로그램을 구현하고자 한다.

  • This Paper deals with a Platform for diagnosis monitoring of DC-DC converter system based on Java virtual machine. This platform is designed for estimating diagnostic parameters of DC-DC converter system based on system identification method and displaying Web-page on operating status. For Web-service, hardware of platform is baled on a Strongarm processor and software bale is designed on Linux and java virtual machine.

Modal Strain Energy-based Damage Monitoring in Beam Structures using PZT's Direct Piezoelectric Response (PZT 소자의 정압전 응답을 이용한 보 구조물의 모드 변형에너지기반 손상 모니터링)

  • The main objective of this study is to examine the feasibility of using lead zirconate titanate (PZT)'s direct piezoelectric response as vibrational feature for damage monitoring in beam structures. For the purpose, modal strain energy (MSE)-based damage monitoring in beam structures using dynamic strain response based on the direct piezoelectric effect of PZT sensor is proposed in this paper. The following approaches are used to achieve the objective. First, the theoretical background of PZT's direct piezoelectric effect for dynamic strain response is presented. Next, the damage monitoring method that utilizes the change in MSE to locate of damage in beam structures is outlined. For validation, forced vibration tests are carried out on lab-scale cantilever beam. For several damage scenarios, dynamic responses are measured by three different sensor types (accelerometer, PZT sensor and electrical strain gage) and damage monitoring tasks are performed thereafter. The performance of PZT's direct piezoelectric response for MSE-based damage monitoring is evaluated by comparing the damage localization results from the three sensor types.
