Data drawn from mothers and teachers of 238 preschoolers, ages 3-5, were used. Using the objective and perceived level of economy, subjects were classified into four groups. Individuals categorized as high by objective and perceived level of economy, low by objective and perceived level of economy, high by objective and low by perceived level of economy, and low by objective and high by perceived level of economy were categorized as in-agreement/high group, in-agreement/low group, over-estimator group, and under-estimator group, respectively. To investigate the difference between groups, one-way ANOVAs and post-hoc analyses were used. The results showed that in-agreement/low group and under-estimator group showed greater depression and anxiety than in-agreement/high group and over-estimator group. In addition, in-agreement/high group and over-estimator group showed greater affective parenting behaviors and lower aggressive parenting behaviors than in-agreement/low group and under-estimator group. In terms of internalizing problem behavior by mother, in-agreement/high group and over-estimator group were lower than under-estimator group. In terms of externalizing problem behavior by mother, in-agreement/high group was lower than under-estimator group. However, in terms of internalizing and externalizing problem behavior by teacher, there was no difference between groups. In externalizing problem behavior by teacher, in-agreement/low group was lower than over-estimator group.

The results show that, firstly, the degree of cooperation of the spouse perceived by the mother of a handicapped child has direct influence on the parenting efficacy. Secondly, the degree of cooperation of the spouse perceived by the mother of a handicapped child has direct influence on parenting stress. Thirdly, there is a mediating effect of parenting efficacy between the degree of cooperation of the spouse and parenting stress, which means that parenting efficacy increases as the mother perceives that she is receiving more cooperation of the spouse in the process of raising the child and the increased parenting efficacy has an influence on the reduction of parenting stress.

The subjects of this study was 210 mothers who lived in Korea. The results of this study were as follows: First, No significant statistical difference was found on the parental modernity of mothers by children's sex. Second, No significant statistical difference was found on parenting stress of mothers by the level of education of mothers but significant statistical difference was found on parenting stress by the level of parental modernity. Third, the more mothers had the level of education, the more mothers had parental modernity. Fourth, more children had misbehavior, the more mothers had parenting stress, Fifth, the more mothers had the parental modernity, the less mothers had parenting stress. These results suggest that the parenting stress was effected by both parenting modernity and children's misbehavior but also it was much relevant to children's misbehavior than parenting modernity.

The results of this study were as follows. First, there is a significant correlation between North Korean refugee mothers' perceived home psychological characteristics and ego-resilience of their young children. Second, the perceived factors by North Korean refugee mothers of home psychological characteristics explained their young children's self-resilience 73.4% of the time and social support had a significant moderating effect. These results suggest that more effective social support to North Korean refugees has to be offered. Not only financial but emotional support is also needed.

  • This study identified the relationship between perceived mother-grandmother conflicts and subjective well-being among multicultural children, and examined the double mediating model of acculturative stress and adjustment to school life on that relationship. Participants were 205 male and female adolescents living at J county in Gangwon-do. PROCESS Macro 3.5 Model 6 was used for analysis of a double mediating effect. Results revealed that perceived mother-grandmother conflicts was positively correlated with acculturative stress of multicultural children, and negatively correlated with adjustment to school life and subjective well-being. And, acculturative stress of multicultural children was negatively correlated with adjustment to school life and subjective well-being, whereas adjustment to school life was positively correlated with subjective well-being. This study found that acculturative stress and adjustment to school life were sequentially mediating perceived mother-grandmother conflicts and subjective well-being of multicultural children. These findings suggest that the perceived mother-grandmother conflicts might cause multicultural children to experience acculturative stress, and as a result, their subjective well-being level might be reduced due to their low adjustment to school life.

  • The subjects of this study on the effects of mother's personality on her childrearing behaviors were 1060 mothers and their $5^{th}$ grade children. Results indicated that maternal childrearing behaviors were related to her personality traits. The effects of mother's personality on her childrearing behaviors varied by sex of child, reporter (mother/child), and childrearing behavior factors. Mother-reported childrearing behaviors correlated more highly with her personality than child-reported behaviors. Behaviors reported by girls provided higher correlations between mother's personality and childrearing dimensions than reports by boys. Mother's personality traits showed differential correlations with childrearing dimensions of Rejection-Restriction (R R) and Warmth-Acceptance (W A) by reporter and sex of child. R R was affected by mother's Impulsiveness more among girls than among boys. Maternal Superiority increased W A toward boys while maternal Responsibility increased W A toward girls.
