청소년을 위한 도서관봉사의 지침

  • IFLA의 어린이/청소년 도서관분과는 전세계의 어린이 청소년을 위한 도서관 발전에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 평생학습의 중요성, 어린이의 독서, 그들의 정보를 제공받을 권리에 대한 인식을 고양시키고 있다. IFLA의 어린이/청소년분과에서는 '어린이를 위한 도서관봉사의 지침'과 '청소년을 위한 도서관봉사의 지침(Guidelines for library services for Young Adults, 원문은 http://www.ifla.org/VII/x10/pub/guidelinese.pdf 참조)'을 마련하여 각 국의 언어로 번역되기를 원하고 있다. 이에 우리 협회는 도서관의 청소년 봉사에 도움이 되기를 바라며, 송영숙 어린이 청소년 봉사위원회 위원장(서울독서교육연구회 회장)이 번역하여 '독서교육정보'(서울독서교육연구회지)2003년 제30호에 게제한 '청소년을 위한 도서관봉사의 지침'을 재수록한다. -편집자주

  • IFLA(국제도서관협회연맹)의 어린이/청소년 도서관분과(Libraries for Children and Young Adults Section)는 전세계의 어린이 및 청소년을 위한 도서관 발전에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 평생학습의 중요성, 어린이의 독서, 그들의 정보를 제공받을 권리에 대한 인식을 고양시키고 있다. IFLA의 어린이/청소년 분과에서는 『어린이 도서관봉사를 위한 가이드라인』과 『청소년을 위한 도서관봉사의 지침』을 마련하여 각 국의 언어로 번역되기를 원하고 있다. 이에 우리 협회는 어린이를 위한 도서관봉사에 도움이 되기를 바라며, 우리 협회 송영숙 어린이ㆍ청소년 봉사위원회 위원장(IFLA 어린이ㆍ청소년 도서관분과 상임위원, 서울독서교육연구회 회장)의 번역문을 수록한다. 본 번역문의 원문은 http://www.ifla.org/Vll/s10/pubs/ChildrensGuidelines.pdf을 참조하기 바라며, 『청소년을 위한 도서관봉사의 지침』의 한국어 번역문은 본지 2003년 7ㆍ8월호 96쪽~102쪽에 게재된 바 있다.

  • The main objective of this study is to set a Collection Development Policy(CDP) for the National Library for Children and Young Adults(NLCY). Every library, in order to accomplish its duty, should maintain a written collection development policy. This paper, in this regard, strives to propose a model to comprise of basic principles of collection development of NLCY for the effective management of resources by the types and subjects. Major emphasis was put on the nature of the library as a repository and a service point for children and young adults, and a hub for children-related research. As a result, a model collection development policy appropriate for NLCY has been proposed by analyzing cases in other countries to guide establishing principles for determining and analyzing the types and magnitude of the collection acquisition.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide libraries with several suggestions which might be helpful for designing their services to support researches related with children and young adults. In this paper as a case study, six libraries from Korea, German, Japan, the United States are selected and analyzed by their roles, services, collections and programs by utilizing their web sites.

  • The purpose of this study is to show important considerations when we develop digital library though reviewing and analyzing the digital libraries for the children and youth. The research targets are ICDL and LG Scienceland which are functioning as the digital libraries. The research methods are literary reviews for theory background and analysis of distinctive features from two webpages. As a result of the research. some suggestions for the navigation. labeling. searching. design and interface, content and new technologies that can be employed are made.

  • This study evaluated the core project operations of the National Library for Children & Young Adults to provide suggestions for its key functions and project operations plan. For this purpose, we conducted a survey for children's librarians and a focus group interview with the directors of children's libraries. The result showed that the overall functions were considered important and the contributions of the core project operations were rated positively. Among the core projects, 'Reading Promotion Program for Children' appeared to contribute most, while the most needed areas were contents development and continuous support for the reading promotion program for young adults. In addition, the need for diverse contents development, instructors and education tools were suggested for continuing education program, along with strengthening policy development and research functions.

  • This study is to provide overall evaluation and analysis of the Reading Culture Promotion Project by the National Library for Children and Young Adults, thus to present ways of development and new strategies. To serve this purpose, we have conducted empirical evaluation of 9 major projects using literature review, survey, Borich demand analysis and The Locus for Focus model analysis. As a result of the evaluation, the program was categorized into three groups: four projects to be continuously expanded in the future, three requiring some improvement and redirection, and two to be reviewed to determine whether to proceed or not. In addition, the results of the evaluation of the project were analyzed in depth to suggest ways to improve the Reading Culture Promotion Project which will be carried out at the National Library for Children and Young Adults.

  • This research intends to identity problem and to suggest improvement through examples of the children for Reading Camp connected on Reading with Library Program for Children of Alienation in the National Library for Children and Young Adult and to investigate the way of effective the reading camp. The study investigated the operational practices of reading camp programs in 6 areas in the country. Further, it conducted a survey with children and librarians participated in the reading camp program. Based on the results, effective reading camp operation has been suggested and some suggestions have been made to improve administration strategies for reading camp.

  • This study aims to examine and analyse 'Stories from the Web(SFW)' in order to assist the development of reading programs for children and young adults in Korea. The British public libraries operate a reading program of 'Stories from the Web(SFW)' which is a web-based reading program for children 0 to 14 years old. SFW is not a reading program that enables children to read books on-line. but motivates children to read books in public libraries.
