Medical treatment for the aged has become an increasingly important concern as the aged population continues to grow. However, little research has been done on the issue. This study examines the roles of the expertise, convenience, and interaction of medical treatment systems applied by geriatric hospital. Medical treatment systems include oriental medicine, western medicine and integrated(oriental and western) medicine practices. The empirical results of the study are as follows. First, the relative impacts of the expertise, convenience and interaction on customer satisfaction are different depending upon the medical treatment systems. Second, convenience and interaction are shown to be more important factors in western medicine, while interaction is the case in oriental medicine. As for the integrated medicine practices, expertise is considered more important. Thus, it is necessary for the western medicine to make more efforts on interaction and convenience, while it is critical to enhance medical personnels' service quality in the oriental medicine. In the integrated medical treatment, actual and effective cooperation should be achieved to secure expertise. Third, the data demonstrate that customer satisfaction has a positive influence on relationship quality which, in turn, impacts on repurchase intention. Finally, relationship quality has a negative influence on intention to switch in the western medicine, whereas the impact of relationship quality is not significant in the oriental and integrated medicine practices.

The oriental medical treatment has many strong points when compared to the western medical treatment, but there are still problems when there is no scientific proof given concerning the effectiveness of a certain treatment. Moreover, experiments are being conducted where new medical treatments applied to patients suing both oriental and western techniques. Especially, in oriental acupuncture, there is no objective data on which an oriental medicine doctor can decide the injection time for acupuncture needle by considering a patients body condition, age and the condition of the diseases. From computer simulation results, it has been that the electronic needle is more efficient than the conventional method of acupuncture needle.

Objectives : This study reports one case of a patient diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with brain metastasis. Methods : A 79 year-old male patient diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with brain metastasis was treated chemotherapy for 3 months and quitted it due to poor general condition. He transferred to Korean medicine hospital and was treated herbal medicine(Saengmaek-san plus Baekhapgogeum-tang gagam), acupuncture, moxibustion, interferential current therapy. To evaluate the patient, we measured of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Lung (FACT-L), Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-Fatigue). Results : Patient's outcomes were improved during the 1st week regarding VAS (41${\rightarrow}$25), FACT-L (81.2${\rightarrow}$90), FACIT-fatigue (25${\rightarrow}$10). However, dyspnea and cough were was aggravated in the 2nd week. Conclusions : Treatment with Korean medicine therapy may have substantial benefit for patients with end-stage lung cancer. But, Integrated medicine therapy is necessary for proper management of end-stage cancer patients.

경희대에서는 동양의학과 서양의학을 조화ㆍ융합한 새로운 '제3의학'을 개발하려는 목적으로 71년 동서의학연구소를 설립, 두학문 연구진의 협동연구를 진행하고 있다. 또 96년부터는 대학원에 동서의학 협동과정을 설치하여 운영하고 있다. 작년부터는 동서협진센터를 개설하여 1환자 2의사제도를 실시하고 있다. 동양의학의 오래 축적된 경험과 이론을 통하여 서양의학과의 긴밀한 협조로 새로운 '제3의학'의 창출이 시급하다.

This study aims to examine a special type of hospital known as Western Oriental medicine treatment designed to provide the best treatment by combining the advantages of Western and Oriental medicine, The actual conditions of the organizations and operations of O.P.D and how the cooperative treatment between Western and Oriental medicine is conducted at general hospitals that operate the cooperative treatment by applying a drawing analysis and an area analysis, and provide materials that help design hospitals that offers the cooperative treatment based on the information. According to the results of this study, the forms of the cooperative treatment between Western and Oriental medicine included several methods; to operate the cooperative center separately between an Oriental hospital and a general hospital, to operate the cooperative hospital, using several floors for an Oriental hospital inside a general hospital, and to operate the cooperative center in specialized centers inside a general hospital and the type of cluster that offers the cooperative treatment in specialized centers is known as the best appropriate treatment.

These days it is becoming more and more common to find electronic medical screening systems installed in Oriental hospitals and clinics. This is a relatively new development for the practice of traditional Oriental medicine. Specifically, Pulse detection machines are being utilized in order to help determine a patient's disease scientifically. However, identifying and diagnosing the specific disease correctly for each patient is still very difficult in Oriental medicine. The intention of this paper is to propose a solution which uses two separate Electronic systems working together to produce a better likelihood of finding the correct diagnosis for each patient. It is proposed that an EMR intelligent electronic chart system be developed and employed, which would utilize both Pulse wave system and a tongue detection system at the same time, in order to solve the problem. Computer simulation results have proven to show that EMR systems used in hospitals and clinics are more efficient and yield a more accurate diagnosis than traditional methods.
