Design and Implementation of a Broadcasting Receiver for Bi-directional Personalized Broadcasting Service (양방향 맞춤형 방송 단말기의 설계 및 구현)

  • TV-Anytime metadata can be delivered by unidirectional or bi-directional network. In bi -directional environment, the special request of a client is sent to metadata service providers and then the providers provide the personalized metadata back to the client. In this paper. we introduce the design and implementation of a broadcasting receiver for personalized broadcasting service in bi-directional environment. We describe actual system configuration and usage examples for bi-directional personalized service. The implemented receiver provides various functions for a digital broadcasting recorder and is based on TV-Anytime specification and UDDI specification to provide the metadata service discovery.

  • 2000년도 들어 국내 지상파에서 HD(High Definition)급의 디지털 시험방송서비스를 개시한 이후 위성방송에서 디지털상용방송을 실시하고 지상파방송에서도 방송 3사에서 아직 많은 시간은 아니지만 디지털방송서비스를 실시하고 있다. 이러한 디지털방송서비스가 고화질 또는 디지털 A/V에 초점을 맞추고 있다면 통신망이 발달하면서 방송과 통신간의 융합화가 빠르게 전개되면서 양방향 데이터방송서비스에 대한 요구가 생겨났다. 이러한 양방향 데이터방송은 방송망을 통해 전달된 데이터를 매개채로 사용자와의 인터랙션을 통해 방송국 서버단과 연결함으로서 양방향 대화형 방송을 가능케 한다.(중략)

  • Various kinds of data broadcasting services can be offered using a return-channel in digital broadcasting TV compared to analog services. In these data broadcasting environments, several data(associated with TV broadcasting programs, or not) are provided to the TV audiences except for audio/video broadcasting data. In this paper, a structure of data manager for data/object carousel, based on data broadcasting protocols, was proposed for data broadcasting services using a return-channel, and were supported to the production technologies of DTV contents. These contents application techniques for DTV will be implemented with this data manager in MPEG2-TS data broadcasts using PID(Packet ID).

  • This paper shows the research about the personalized broadcasting system. The personalized broadcasting is the service that users only show the programs which they want to watch when they want to watch these. The purpose of the bi-directional broadcasting service is supporting more satisfied and more personalized services by permitting the bi-directional data transformation. This research also develops the user profiling system for the bi-directional and personalized broadcasting service. This system applied the TV-Anytime metadata specifications which is the standard for the personalized broadcasting services, the system supports the various functions for the bi-directionl and personalized broadcasting such as the user profiling, contents metadata and targeting advertisement services. The bi-directional and personalized broadcasting system increases the users' satisfaction with the recommendation and management of the personally favorite broadcasting contents and advertisements, the trial run results show that the services raise the users' satisfaction with the intelligent and discriminating broadcasting services.

  • CRM은 고객을 이해하고 고객과 대화하며 고객에게 최고의 서비스를 제공하는 기업의 경영전략이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 고객경영전략은 정보기숙의 변화에 따른 시장의 변화, 고객의 변화가 반영되어 CRM의 변화를 가져왔다. 특히 앞으로 전개될 디지털 양방향 데이터 방송을 기반으로 하는 t-Commerce 산업에서 CRM은 더욱 중요한 경영전략이 될 것이다. 본 연구에서는 양방향 데이터 방송을 기반으로 t-CRM의 정의와 특징을 분석하고 기존 CRM의 구성요소와 분류를 확장된 CRM을 적용하여 제시하였다.

  • Since the first interactive broadcasting of Skylife had been launched in S. Korean it has passed over 4 years. Subsequently the new digital broadcasting platforms, such as DMB, Mobile-TV, IPTV and so forth, are appearing between the keen rivalries. At the centre of diagram for new digital platforms there is positioned the interactivity. In order to cope with the limitation of contents on television, even Korean terrestrials have resolutely carried out interactive broadcasting as of 8th of June, 2006. Although the flamed competition of digital environment there are lacking in the public understanding and interests for interactive programmes on digital television. We can be analysed that it is difficult to acquire the viewer's satisfaction for guessability in spite of our governmental efforts. Here it presents the problematic results obtained by analysing both quantitative and qualitative data from the usability test for the current interactive programme in centre of the viewer.

  • 본 논문에서는 디지털 방송의 시대를 맞아 새롭고 다양한 정보 서비스를 가능하게 할 디지털 데이터방송을 위해서 국내 환경에 적합한 데이터방송 프로파일을 제안하고 그 내용을 소개한다. 여기서 프로파일이라는 것은 표준(standard)과는 달리 서비스 어플리케이션 및 송 ·수신 시스템을 포함하여 실제로 데이터방송을 서비스하기 위해서 규정한 방송구현 단계의 구체적 규격이다. 데이터방송의 가능한 서비스 형태로는 TV 프로그램 자체를 소개하는 프로그램 안내정보 서비스, 방송중인 TV 프로그램 관련 정보를 서비스하기 위한 TV 프로그램 연관 데이터 서비스, TV 프로그램 내용과 독립적으로 멀티미디어 정보를 제공하기 위한 순수 데이터 서비스, 그리고 방송국과 양방향 네트워크로 연결하여 제공되는 양방향 서비스가 있다 이러한 서비스를 개발하기 위해서는 국내 환경에 적합한 데이터방송 프로파일이 필요하며 그 일환으로 현재 MHEG-5를 이용하여 데이터방송이 가능하도록 프로파일을 구성해 나가고 있다 그리고 MHEG-5 프로파일을 이용한 서비스 어플리케이션을 제작하여 디지털 위성방송 시스템에 적용하였다 데이터방송의 규격은 국제적으로 아직 많은 부분에 있어서 유동적이므로 이 연구를 바탕으로 향후 지속적으로 국제적 흐름을 분석하여 국내 환경에 적합하도록 프로파일을 개선해 나갈 것이다.

  • In this paper, we design and implement verification and interface application for interactive data broadcasting middleware. This application implements ACAP and OCAP verification item according to their types (format, protocol. resource, presentation). Therefore, using this application, we can verify whether digital settop-boxes used in digital terrestrial television and digital cable television conforms to the ACAP and OCAP standards. In this paper, we evaluate our proposed application using TVPLUSiTM verifier which can verify interactive TV application in real broadcasting environment. Through performance evaluation, we show that the DTB-H650F set-top-box supports OCAP and ACAP standard 80% and 95%, respectively.

  • Interactive broadcasting service using wired/wireless Internet return channel has strong ripple effect. It allows the audiences to participate actively to the program they are watching, and communicating. This paper develops an authoring tool that makes an object-formed interactive advertisement from extracted areas of the advertising object the user specified in TV programs. In the authoring tool, the advertisement producer specifies the target object subjectively and the selected object keeps moving here and there repeatedly. Therefore, it is hard to make an object-formed interactive advertisement with existing tools. This paper suggests sketch-based interface technique for extracting advertising objects, and also provide evaluation functions to correct any sketch error. This paper also converts the area of object into MPEG-4 BIFS codes for authoring the object-formed interactive advertisement.

A Study on Characteristics of the Type of Interactive Broadcast Program in Korea (국내 양방향 방송 프로그램 유형 특징에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the development of interactive services and technologies in the media industry. Through the analysis of domestic two-way broadcasting contents service, this study analyzed platform and services type according to service type of terrestrial broadcasting, SO operator and Telco. Also, by identifying the characteristics of interactive programs(open, interactive, personalized, stereoscopic), this study propose important convergence possibilities of the future providers and development plans through supporting technologies and services for each characteristic. In the case of terrestrial broadcasters, ARS, web sites and mobile apps were mostly provided in both directions, and SO and satellite broadcasting operators were found to provide diversity in interactive service operation using data domain. In the case of IPTV companies, most of them provide interactive services with additional video or information service through adjustment button or app, and cable TV operators had more adjustment data broadcasting than exclusive use data broadcasts. Therefore, domestic interactive broadcasting service type needs convergence type of revenue model needs and needs to be converted into new competitive interactive broadcasting program service environment.
