  • In this study, 16 test blastings had been carried out with different spacings, burdens, drilling lengths, and charges per delay for investigating the characteristics of ground vibration propagation, which depends on the delay time. From the tests, it was possible to derive a ground vibration equation. Using the equation, the characteristics of ground vibration could be investigated by analyzing the nomogram and predicting the Peak Particle Velocity (PPV), which are influenced by the delay time and the priming location. The trend of ground vibration change depending on the delay time was analyzed for the standards charges of 0.5, 1.6, 5, and 15 kg, which were suggested in "Blasting design and construction guidelines to road construction" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. From the study, it would be possible to suggest a favorable vibration control method, which depends on the charge.

  • Seedlings of eight varieties of tomato were treated on the soil surface by each six application rate (0 to 5g ai/ha) of herbicide quinclorac. Percent of control in plant height at 7 days after treatment ranged from 69% to 81% at 5g ai/ha application of quinclorac. At 28 days after treatment those of (2-26)*836038 and (TR*VC8-1)-1-2F4 were 88% and 89%, respectively. However, those of other six varieties except former two varieties were 61% to 68%. The variations of percent of control in shoot dry weight among eight varieties were larger than those in plant height. Those of (2-26)*836038 and (TR*VC8-1)-1-2F4 were also higher than those of other six varieties at 4 - 5g ai/ha application of quinclorac.

  • In order to identify the characteristics of the propagation depending on delay time (20, 25 ms) and priming location (top priming, middle priming, bottom priming), test blasts were carried out a total of 4 times using different spacing, burden, drilling length, charge per delay and was derived the formula to predict blast vibration. This study investigated the characteristics of vibration by analysis of the nomogram and prediction of Peak Particle Velocity (PPV) from delay time and priming location by the formula to predict ground vibration. And it analyzed the trends of vibration increase by standards charge 0.5, 1.6, 5, 15 kg. Standards charge is "Blasting design and construction guidelines to road construction" by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Depending on the charge in favor of vibration control method is proposed. Thus, when the design was to be used as a variable.

  • The experiment was carried out to evaluate the herbicidal properties of dithiopyr(3, 5-pyridine dicarbothioic acid-2-(difluoromethyl)-4-(2-methylpropyl)-6-(trifluoromethyl)-S,S-dimethyl ester). Weeding effect of dithiopyr was determined under various factors such as dosage, soil type, leaching amount, temperature, water depth, overflow time, and application time and method. Dithiopyr showed very high phytotoxic activity on most major annuals weeds, expecially Echinochloa crus-galli and Monochoria vaginalis. Excellent control of Echinochloa crus-galli was obtained at 0.04kg a.i./ha with preemergence application and 0.12kg a.i./ha with early post-emergence application (12 DAT ; Echinochloa crus-galli of 1.5 leaf stage). Weeding effect of dithiopyr decreased when applied at the soil surface 2days before transplanting. Soil type, leaching amount, temperature, water depth, overflow time did not affect the weeding effect.

  • Effect of perfluidone(2-methyl-4-phenylsulphonyltrifluoromethylsulphoanilide) and bifenox(2,4-dichlorophenyl-3-methoxycarbonyl-4-nitrophenylether) mixture on weed control and plant growth and yield of transplanted rice was determined. Perfluidone-bifenox mixture applied at 75-105 g a.i./10a controlled effectively perennial weeds such as Sagittaria pygmaea Miq., Potamogeton dtstinctus A. Benn., Cyperus serotinus Rottb, Eleocharis kuroguwai Ohwi, including most annual weeds, but did not control Sagittaria trifolia L.. There was no phytotoxicity caused by perfluidone-bifenox mixture when applied at 100-140 g a.i./10a. The mixture at 150-210 g a.i./10a caused crop injury, but did not affect the yield. Phytotoxicity due to the mixture decreased as the application time was delayed.

  • This experiment was conducted with pot trial to evaluate effects of pretilachlor [2-chloro-2', 6'-diethyl-N(n-propoxythyl) acetanilide], pyrazoxyfen [ 1,3-dimethyl-4-(2,4-dichloro benzoyl)-5-phenacyloxy-pyrazole], pyrazolate (4-(2,4-dichloro benzoyl)-1,3-dimethyl-pyrazol-5-yl-p-toluenesulphonate] and their combinations on Echinochloa crew-galli. Herbicides were treated with different dosages under 3 cm water depth at 1st and 2nd leaf stages of E. crus-galli. E. crus-galli showed stunted symptom by treatment of pretilachlor and etiolation by treatment of pyrazoxyfen or pyrazolate after 4 days from treatment. Stunting and chlorosis degrees of E. crusgalli increased with high dosage of all herbicides at lst and 2nd leaf stage. Combination of pyrazoxyfen+pretilachlor (6+1.5)G or pyrazolate+pretilachlor (6+1.5)G showed positive synergistic effect of herbicidal action on E. crus-galli, therefore these combinations can control E. crux galli in paddy field with lower dosage than each single treatment of herbicides. Herbicidal effect of pyrazoxyfen on E. crus-galli was similar to pyrazolate in single treatment and combination with pretilachlor.

  • The control effects of four systemic insecticides $Disyston^{(R)}$ (disulfoton) 5G, $Temik^{(R)}$ (aldicarb) 15G, $Ortran^{(R)}$ (acephate) 5G and $Curaterr^{(R)}$ (carbofuran) 3G, on small brown planthopper, Laodetphax striatellus (fallen), were studied by applying them in the furrow of spring barley field. Two different application times; April 19 and 25, and three different dosage rates were used. The results are as follows: 1. No significant difference in the mortalities among the developmental stages were observed with the treated barley on April 25, when various life stages had infested on the cutting of the treated barley in the laboratory. The residual periods were 19 days for Disyston and 31 days for Temik. 2. With field experiments, highly effective control effects were obtained with Disyston and Temik. The residual period was longer with the treatment on April 19 than with those on April 25 for Disyston, while they were reverse for Temik. 3. The effective doses were 2kg/10a for Disyston, while the effectiveness lasted more than 40days with dose of 1kg/10a for Temik. 4. From above results, Disyston and Temik could effectively reduce the population of small brown planthopper in the barley field, which is the effective reproductive sources of the population in the rice field.

  • Commercial formulation of fungicides was studied in vitro for sensitivity against Typhula species causal agents of Typhula blight. Efficacies of fungicides application, spray volume, nozzle types and fungicides applied time (early fall and late fall) were evaluated for their influence on the chemical control of Typhula blight of turfgrass during the winter season in Wisconsin. All fungicides effectively reduced the mycelial growth of eight isolates of Typhula spp. in vitro on potato dextrose agar (PDA) media. For inhibitory effects on mycelial growth of eight isolates, propiconazole was the most effective at $1.0{\mu}g$ active ingredient (a.i) / ml of PDA. Typhula incarnata two isolates were significantly more sensitive to all fungicides of PDA than six isolates of three varieties of T. ishikariensis. For 2 years in field experiment, unsprayed control has significantly more disease severity than seven fungicides were applied to field plots at two locations. Propiconazole was the most effective for controlling Typhula blight, at two locations in both years. The level of disease control was not dependent on fungicides spray volume or nozzle types at two locations. The disease damage treated with triadimefon applied time (early fall and late fall) was not significantly different at two location for two years.
