Study of Solvent Effects on the Ionization of tert-butyl Halide in MeOH-DMSO Mixtures (MeOH-DMSO 혼합용매중에서 tert-butyl halide의 이온화에 미치는 용매효과)

  • Rate constants and activation parameters for the methanolysis of t-butyl halide (t-BuCl, t-BuBr, t-BuI) in various MeOH-DMSO mixtures were measured by conductometric method. Taft's solvatochromic parameters, such as polarity-polarizability(SPP's), ${\pi}^{\ast}$, hydrogen bond donor (HBD) acidity, ${\alpha}$, and hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA) basicity, ${\beta}$ of the solvents, were determined by the so called solvatochromic method using five indicators. The variation of methanolysis rate with the solvent composition was discussed on the basis of the activation parameters and the correlation of the rates with the solvatochromic parameters. It is concluded that the polarity-polarizability, HBD acidity and HBA basicity of the mixtures had an effect on the ionization of t-butyl halide cooperatively, also that the specific interaction between the leaving groups and the solvents, such as ion-dipole and hydrogen bond acceptor-donor interaction, is the most important factor of solvent effects on the stabilization of transition states.

  • A kinetic study of the methanolysis of t-butylbromide and benzoylchloride in methanol-acetonitrile mixtures is reported. First order rate constants for the methanolysis of t-butyl bromide show maximum at $X_{MeOH}$=0.75∼0.9 and 25∼$50^{\circ}C$. Apparent second order rate constants for the methanolysis of benzoylchloride also show maximum at $X_{MeOH}$= 0.6∼0.95 and 12∼$26^{\circ}C$. The maximum rate is ascribed to the solvent structure change; the addition of acetonitrile to methanol perturbs the methanol structure increasing the free methanol molecules available to stabilize the transition state for the methanolysis of t-butylbromide and benzoylchloride. It has been shown that methanol acts as nucleophilic and electrophilic catalyst upon methanolysis of t-butylbromide and as electrophilic catalyst upon methanolysis of benzoylchloride.

  • The paper describes a design methodology that can select a proper reliability factor and apply the selected reliability factor into the real water distribution system. Reliability factors which are used for the assesment of water supply networks, can be categorized by a connectivity, a reachability, an expected shortage and an availability. Among these factors, an expected shortage is the most proper reliability factor in the aspect of economic evaluation. Therefore, the expected shortage is applied to draw a water supply reliability into Changwon water supply systems. And the economic pipe diameter can be determined as 600mm for a connection pipe in the pipe network from the estimation of the expected shortage. Also, a quantitative effect of the connection pipe can be expressed in terms of the reduction, which is estimated by the expected shortage of 30,269$m^{3}$ from 68,705$m^{3}$ at initial condition to 38,436$m^{3}$ under the connected condition with the diameter 600mm pipe.

  • The hydrolysis of fungicidal N-[1-(benzotriazol-1-yl)benzyl]aniline (BBA) molecule in the presence of cationic cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) and anionic sodium laurylsulfate (NaLs) micellar solutions has been studied kinetically. The Micellar catalysis effect shows that the rate is slightly accelerated by the addition of the anionic NaLs at high pH and the binding constant (Ks) is $1.45{\times}10^4M^{-1}$. This result presumably is due to the electrostatic stabilization by the anionic micelle of the developing carbocation in the transition state rather than the hydrophobic character (${\pi}$: 4.93) of (BBA).

  • The Wallach rearrangement of 4'-halogenated azoxybenzenes in strong sulfuric acid was reinvestigated by UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. Interestingly an excellent linearity $(logk_{obs}=-0.61\;{\sigma}_R{^+} -3.29,\;{\gamma = 0.998)$ was obtained on plotting log (rate) vs. substituent constant, ${\sigma}_R{^+}$, which is known as the Pi delocalization parameter. Thus B-H mechanism via a charged intermediate $(DC^{++})$, which can be largely stabilized by resonance, is far more favored for the Wallach rearrangement.

  • For mechanical and electrical stability and environment protection, Cu and stainless steel stabilizer is laminated to Ag layer to produce a composite neutral-axis(N-A) architecture in which the YBCO layer is centered between the oxide buffered metallic substrate and stabilizer strip lamination. this architecture allows the wire to meet operational requirements including stresses at cryogenic temperature, winding tensions, mechanical bending requirements thermal and electrical stability under fault conditions. we have experimentally studied mechanical properties of laminated stainless steel stabilizer on YBCO coated conductors. we have laminated YBCO coated conductors by continuous dipping soldering process. we have investigated lamination interface between solder and stabilizer, YBCO coated conductor. we evaluated bonding properties tensile / shear bonding strength, peeling strength laminated YBCO coated conductors.

코어/쉘 나노입자를 포함한 고분자 박막을 저항 변화층으로 사용한 전기적 안정성을 가진 메모리 소자의 메커니즘 동작

  • 유기물/무기물 나노복합체를 이용하여 제작한 비휘발성 메모리 소자는 간단한 공정과 플렉서블 기기 응용 가능성 때문에 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 다양한 나노입자를 포함한 고분자 박막에 대한 연구는 많이 진행되었지만, 비휘발성 메모리소자에서 CdSe/InP 나노입자를 사용한 나노복합체의 전기적 안정성과 동작 메커니즘에 대한연구는 미흡하다. 본 연구는 CdSe/InP 코어/쉘 나노입자가 poly (N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) 박막에 분산되어 있는 나노복합체를 이용하여 메모리 소자를 제작하여 전기적 특성과 안정성을 관찰 하였다. 소자 제작을 위해PVK 고분자를 용매인 클로로벤젠에 용해한 후, 헥산에 안정화 되어있는 CdSe/InP 나노입자를 초음파 교반기를 사용하여 고르게 섞었다. Indium-tin-oxide (ITO)가 증착한 유리 기판을 화학물질로 세척한 후 기판 위에 CdSe/InP 나노입자와 절연성 고분자인 PVK가 혼합된 용액을 스핀코팅 방법으로 도포하여 나노입자가 포함된 고분자 박막층을 형성하여 저항 변화층으로 사용하였다. 형성된 박막 위에 마스크를 사용하여 Al 상부전극을 고진공에서 열 증착하여 비휘발성 메모리 소자를 제작하였다. 제작된 소자의 전류-전압(I-V) 특성을 측정한 결과 동일전압에서 전도도가 좋은 상태 (ON)와 좋지 않은 상태 (OFF)인 두 개의 상태상 존재한다는 것을 확인하였고, CdSe/InP인 나노입자가 포함된 소자와 포함되지 않은 소자의 전기적 특성을 비교 분석하였다. 두 상태의 안정성을 ON 또는OFF 상태의 스트레스를 측정하여 두 상태의 안정성을 확인하였고, 실험결과를 바탕으로 메모리 소자의 동작 메커니즘을 기술하였다.

A Study on the Development of Low Flow Management in Nakdong River Basin (낙동강수계 갈수관리 발전방안 연구)

  • 최근 기후변화에 따라 세계적으로 집중호우·태풍·가뭄 등과 같은 기상재해가 증가하고 있으며, 이 중에서도 주기적으로 발생하는 가뭄의 발생빈도 또한 증가하고 있다. 2014년과 2015년 금강수계에 발생한 가뭄과 2017년 낙동강수계에 발생한 가뭄은 갈수로 인한 피해를 야기한 바 있다. 금강수계의 경우 보령댐 저수량 부족으로 제한급수를 시행하였으며, 낙동강수계의 경우 형산강수계의 농업용저수지 고갈로 긴급용수를 공급하기도 하였다. 이에 대하여 낙동강홍수통제소는 2016년부터 수계 내의 갈수상황과 향후 예상되는 갈수전망을 지속적으로 모니터링하고 있다. 수계 전역을 대상으로 강수현황, 다목적댐·용수댐 및 농업용 저수지의 저수현황, 하천의 갈수현황, 향후 기상전망 및 방류계획, 향후 유출전망 등을 1개월 단위(매주) 및 3개월 단위(매월) 작성하며, 갈수예보 및 모니터링지점 선정, 예보적용성 검증 등을 수행하고 2020년부터 갈수예보를 정식으로 시행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 낙동강수계의 효율적인 갈수예보의 시행과 확대를 위해서 현재 낙동강 본류로 한정되어 있는 갈수관리 지점을 확대하는 방안에 대하여 검토하였다. 기준갈수량이 상대적으로 적은 중권역, 상수도 보급률, 영농여건 물리농지 비율 및 유량관측 안정화 여부를 종합적으로 검토하였으며 확대 지점을 선정하였다.

Dissipation characteristics of mandipropamid and thiamethoxam for establishment of pre-harvest residue limits in lettuce (상추의 생산단계 잔류허용기준 설정을 위한 농약 Mandipropamid 및 Thiamethoxam의 잔류소실특성 연구)

  • The dissipation characteristics and kinetics of fungicide mandipropamid and insecticide thiamethoxam in lettuce under greenhouse conditions were investigated at three different lettuce-growing fields for estimating the pre-harvest residue limits (PHRLs). The analytical methods were fully validated for the quantitation of pesticide residues using High-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Photo Diode Array detector or Ultraviolet-Visible Detector and applied to real samples. The lettuces suitable for shipment were harvested during 10 days including pre-harvest interval after treatment at the recommended dose by safe-use guidelines. The initial mean residues in different fields were 6.68-17.87 and 4.96-8.31 mg/kg for mandipropamid and thiamethoxam, respectively, which decreased to 16-54 and 14-44% in 10 days. The clothianidin, a metabolite of thiamethoxam, was detected in <0.02 to 0.37 mg/kg. The dissipation of both pesticides followed first-order kinetics over a period of 10 days after application. Based on the residue data, the mean dissipation rate constant (λ) and biological half-lives (T1/2) were estimated to be -0.1060 and 6.5 days of mandipropamid and -0.1236 and 5.6 days of thiamethoxam. The PHRLs for lettuce on the 10th and 5th day before harvesting were calculated to be 63.24 and 43.56 mg/kg for mandipropamid, and 44.66 and 25.88 mg/kg for thiamethoxam, with -0.0746 and -0.1091 of the upper 95% confidence intervals of dissipation rate constant, respectively. This work would be useful as guidance for adjusting the shipment date and contribute to stabilizing the income of farmers in Korea.
