Establishment Plan of Promotion Policy for Disaster-Safety Industry Based on Social Media Analysis (소셜미디어 분석을 활용한 재난안전산업 육성정책 수립방안)

  • The general public's interest level towards safer life is increasing due to not only ever-changing faces of disasters and increased frequency of climate-change related disasters but also enhanced standard of living. Demand for disaster-safety industry is also increasing. Several policies for disaster-safety industry have been introduced. The policies, however, did not fully reflect the level of people's interest. This study is to investigate possible ways to reflect general public's interests towards disaster-safety industry using social media analysis, so that disaster-safety industry can be properly promoted. To examine the level of general public's interest, social media data during the last three years were compiled and analyzed. It was found that the interest level was highest towards, firstly, information on just-happened real disasters, secondly, necessary knowledge in real life which could be applied immediately if disasters strike. It was also confirmed that social media was useful in analyzing people's interest level quickly, because social data have been found to be sharply increased during the 2016 Gyeongju Earthquake in Korea. This study suggests applicable plans for disaster-related industry promotion based on social media data using general public's interest level.

Development and Evaluation of Road Safety Information Contents Using Commercial Vehicle Sensor Data : Based on Analyzing Traffic Simulation DATA (사업용차량 센서 자료를 이용한 도로안전정보 콘텐츠 개발 : 교통시뮬레이션 자료 분석을 중심으로)

  • A Cooperative Intelligent Transportation System (CITS) provides useful information on upcoming hazards in order to prevent vehicle collisions. In addition, the availability of individual vehicle travel information obtained from the CITS infrastructure allows us to identify the level of road safety in real time and based on analysis of the indicators representing the crash potential. This study proposes a methodology to derive road safety content, and presents evaluation results for its applicability in practice, based on simulation experiments. Both jerk and Stopping Distance Index (SDI) were adopted as safety indicators and were further applied to derive road section safety information. Microscopic simulation results with VISSIM show that 5% and 20% samples of jerk and SDI are sufficient to represent road safety characteristics for all vehicles. It is expected that the outcome of this study will be fundamental to developing a novel and valuable system to monitor the level of road safety in real time.

  • Traffic management centers (TMC) collect real-time traffic data from the field and have powerful databases for analysing, recording, and archiving the data. Recent advanced sensor and communication technologies have been widely applied to intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Regarding sensors, various in-vehicle sensors, in addition to global positioning system (GPS) receiver, are capable of providing high resolution data representing vehicle maneuverings. Regarding communication technologies, advanced wireless communication technologies including vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-vehicle infrastructure (V2I), which are generally referred to as V2X, have been widely used for traffic information and operations (references). The V2X environment considers the transportation system as a network in which each element, such as the vehicles, infrastructure, and drivers, communicates and reacts systematically to acquire information without any time and/or place restrictions. This study is motivated by needs of exploiting aforementioned cutting-edge technologies for developing smarter transportation services. The proposed system has been implemented in the field and discussed in this study. The proposed system is expected to be used effectively to support the development of various traffic information control strategies for the purpose of enhancing traffic safety on highways.

  • Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems were developed to ensure a high level of food safety and reduced risk of foodborne illness. This paper focuses on significant issues associated with the implementation of HACCP; it provides an overview on recent literature. The structure of the paper follows six groupings of issues in the international literature of HACCP: (1) comparative studies and unification plan between HACCP and other food safety regulations; (2) verification of the HACCP system's effectiveness in improving food safety; (3) establishment of critical control point (CCP) for various foods HACCP model development; (4) expansion of HACCP application in the various fields and small businesses;(5) the impacts of HACCP on consumer's preferences and firms' financial performance in food industry; (6) HACCP and technological changes. The paper concludes with some suggestions for the future research in order to promote safe food supply chain for global customers.

A Study on the Safety Improvement of Vessel Traffic in the Busan New Port Entrance (부산신항 진출입 항로 내 선박 통항 안전성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Busan New Port manages the largest volume of traffic among Korean ports, and accounts for 68.5% of the total volume of the Busan port. Due to this increase in volume, ultra large container ships call at Busan New Port. When the additional south container terminal as well as ongoing construction project of the west container terminal are completed, various encounters may occur at the Busan New Port entrance, which may cause collision risk.s Thus, the purpose of this study was to provide a plan to improve the safety of vessel traffic, in the in/out bound fairway of Busan New Port. For this purpose, the status of arrivals and departures of vessels in Busan New Port, was examined through maritime traffic flow analysis. Additionally, risk factors and safety measures were identified, by AHP analysis with ship operators of the study area. Also, based on the derived safety measures, scenarios were set using the Environmental Stress model (ES model), and the traffic risk level of each safety measure was identified through simulation. As a result, it is expected that setting the no entry area for one-way traffic would have a significant effect on mitigating risks at the Busan New Port entrance. This study can serve as a basis for preparing safety measures, to improve the navigation of vessels using Busan New Port. If safety measures are prepared in the future, it is necessary to verify the safety by using the traffic volume and flow changes according to the newly-opened berths.

A Study on tne Necessity of Using ESG to Prevent Accidents in the Chemical Industry (화학산업 사고 예방을 위한 ESG 활용 필요성 연구)

  • Purpose: We suggest the need to utilize ESG in the safety field to prevent serious industrial accidents. Method: The Serious Accident Punishment Act, a strong serious accident prevention system, was reviewed through a review of previous research. And through comparative analysis of serious accident data from the United States and Korea, the main causes of accidents in the domestic chemical industry were derived. Result: It was determined that there was a need to induce voluntary safety management by companies through ESG management along with the Serious Accident Punishment Act, which aims to prevent corporate accidents. Through statistical analysis of accident data, it was confirmed that the scale of damage and number of deaths in domestic accidents was greater than in the United States. The reason was interpreted to be that there are many accidents caused by human causes in the country. Conclusion: In order to compensate for the lack of voluntariness in corporate safety management as well as the Serious Accident Punishment Act and encourage active safety management, the proportion of 'ESG safety evaluation' must be expanded. By using ESG as an indirect social sanction, we can expect companies to voluntarily and actively manage safety and expand safety investments in the safety field.

  • A Cost-Benefit Analysis which would help us to make optical decisions among safety investment alternatives, calculating and comparing costs and benefits for facilities in chemical plants. As well as offering the related information in the decision makings for safety improvement, it promotes on-site safety activities and the efficiency of safety investments The developed Cost-Benefit Analysis will eventually contribute to our efforts in economically justifying the safety investments in chemical plants.

  • 우리네 현대 생활에서 벽지가 주는 의미는 남다르다. 집안 들어섰을 때 첫 인상을 심어주는 것이 바로 벽지라는 것을 떠올리면 쉽게 이해가 갈 것이다. 이와 관련해 업계의 주목을 받고 있는 기업이 오늘의 주인공인 (주)서울벽지다. 1968년 창립된 이곳은 현재까지 벽지 소재 개발은 물론 디자인과 품질 향상 등에 꾸준히 노력해온 것으로 명성이 자자하다. 실제로 현재 (주)서울벽지는 국내에서 벽지산업을 이끌어 온 굴지의 벽지 전문회사다. 이곳이 단순히 벽지 생산에만 주력해 왔다고 생각하면 큰 오산이다.   • 2019년 산업재해 현황 분석 결과 복장, 보호구의 잘못 사용으로 사고가 발생한 비율이 20%로 높은 비율을 차지했고, 전체 사고자 중 두부 손상을 입은 비율이 41%로 가장 높은 비율을 보였다[1]. 고용 노동부가 발표한 '건설현장 추락위험 일제점검 결과(2021.7)'에서는 안전모 미착용 근로자가 32.6%를 차지하였다[2]. 우리는 ICT기술을 활용해 안전모의 기능개선 가능성을 확인하였고, 안전사고를 예방하고, 빠르게 감지할 수 있는 스마트 안전모를 개발하고자 하였다. 그리고 본 연구를 통해 IoT 센서들과 딥러닝 영상분석을 이용한 스마트 안전모 서비스는 작업 전 부정착용 방지, 작업 중 위험감지, 사고 발생 시 빠른 감지를 통한 신속한 대처를 목표로 하여, 안전한 작업환경을 만들 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 인구의 고령화로 인한 노인여가복지시설에서 실질적인 생활거점과 복지시설로 역할이 변화하면서 경로당의 이용자가 증가하는 추세이다. 그러나, 다중의 고령층이 장시간 이용하는 시설임에도 불구하고 경로당에서 발생하고 있는 재난 및 안전사고에 관한 기초적인 정보 수집이 전무한 상황이다. 이에, 본 연구는 노인여가복지시설 중 경로당을 중심으로 현장을 직접 방문하여 관련자 인터뷰와 통계자료를 분석하여 재난 및 안전사고 실태를 조사하고자 한다. 또한, 현재 경로당에서 운영하는 프로그램을 조사하고, 노인의 건강하고 안전한 여가생활에 도움을 줄 수 있는 프로그램이 될 수 있도록 활성화 방안을 도출하고자 한다. 본 연구결과가 신(新) 노년 세대를 위한 노인여가복지정책 연구에 기초자료로 활용되길 기대해본다.
