외모 스트레스가 아동과 청소년의 자아 존중감에 미치는 영향 : 성역할 정체감 및 우울감을 매개 변인으로 (The Effects of Appearance Stress on Children and Adolescents' Self-Esteem: Mediating Variables of Sex-Role Identity and Depression)

  • This study aimed to explore self-esteem influencing variables such as appearance stress, sex-role identity, and depression, in order to assess self-esteem standards for children and adolescents. It also investigated mediating effects of sex-role identity and depression on self-esteem. The study subjects were 2,511 elementary students and 2,958 middle school students, selected using the Korea Adolescence Panel Data. The data collected from interviews were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis, t test, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical multiple regression. The main results were as follows: Firstly, appearance stress and depression of female students were higher than those of male students. However, sex-role identity of male students was higher than those of female students. Difference in self-esteem was not statistically significant between male and female students (P > 0.05). Secondly, appearance stress was positively correlated to sex-role identity and depression, but negatively correlated to selfesteem. Thirdly, sex-role identity and depression had a mediating affect on self-esteem. Finally, variables affecting self-esteem of children and adolescents were appearance stress, men-role identity, and depression. In addition to these variables, women-role identity was a major factor for female students.

부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 우울성향 및 우울과 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Parents' Psychological Control, Depressive Dispositions, and Depression on the Self Esteem of Adolescents)

  • The purpose of the present study was to develop a structural model, of which the effect of parents' psychological control, depressive dispositions, and depression upon the self-esteem of adolescents. The participants were 458 adolescents recruited from high schools and universities (M age = 17.4 yrs; SD = 1.75) in Seoul and its vicinity. Data were collected through self-reporting questionnaires for adolescents. Firstly, we estimated the hypothesized meditation model which includes paths from parents' psychological to self-esteem through adolescents' depressive experiences and depression. Structural Equation Modeling analysis using AMOS revealed that the hypothesized mediation model yielded an acceptable model fit and all hypothesized path coefficients were found to be significant. Specifically, it indicated that the more parents try to exert psychological control over their children, the more depressive experiences adolescents have and in turn, they had a greater tendency towards becoming depressed and having lower self esteem. It was also found that neither gender difference nor age difference existed in the structural model.

어머니 상위정서양육방식과 청소년 자녀의 심리적 적응 및 우울감의 관계 : 모-자녀 대화시간의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Relationships between Maternal Meta-Emotion Philosophy, Adolescent's Psychological Adjustment and Depression : The Moderating Effects of Mother-Adolescent Communication Time)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of mother-adolescent communication time on the relationship between maternal meta-emotion philosophy, adolescent psychological adjustment and depression. The participants for this study comprised 181 first and second grade high school students and their mothers, residing in Seoul. The results of the analyses indicated that, (a) maternal disapproving is negatively correlated to adolescents' positive world views, and that maternal laissez-faire is also negatively correlated to adolescents' emotional responsiveness. However, a positive correlation is revealed between maternal emotion-coaching and adolescents' positive self-esteem. (b) It is evident that adolescents' emotional responsiveness is influenced by maternal laissez-faire, and that adolescents' positive self-esteem is influenced by emotion-coaching. It also indicated that mother-adolescent communication time is influenced by dismissing as well as laissez-faire meta-emotion philosophy. (c) It revealed that mother-adolescent communication time, in part, has a meaningful moderating effect on the relationship between meta-emotion philosophy and adolescent depression. Therefore, the present study indicates that even if maternal disapproving, laissez-faire, or dismissing is practiced, adolescent depression levels decrease as mother-adolescent time lengthens.

  • 아동비만은 성인비만으로 이어지기 쉬우며, 비만아동은 자신의 신체에 대해 열등감을 가지며 자아존중감이 낮고 우울한 경향이 많다. 국내의 경우 주로 의사와 영양사를 중심으로 비만관리 프로그램이 이루어지고 있고 효과도 평가되고 있으나, 본 연구는 아동의 생활습관 개선에 의한 체중감량을 목표로 한 종합적 프로그램의 개발이 필요하다고 인식하여 선행 연구에서 비만아동의 의생활, 식생활, 신체적ㆍ심리적 특성 등을 분석하였다.(중략)

여성결혼이민자와 한국어머니의 양육효능감과 양육행동의 매개적 역할 : 아동의 자존감 모형 탐색 (The Mediational Role of Parenting Self-Efficacy and Behavior on Child Self-Esteem : Female International Marriage Immigrant and Korean Mothers)

  • This study investigated the relations between young children's self-esteem and mother's parenting self-efficacy, husband support, parenting behavior, and mothers' depression, focusing on the mediational role of mother's parenting self-efficacy and behavior. Participants were 762 young child-mother dyads in Busan and Gyungnam, Korea. Mothers were Korean and female international marriage immigrants from China, Philippines, and Vietnam. Questionnaires were based on Choe and Chung (2001), Hong (1995), Shin (1996), Lee and Song (1991), and Lee (1994). Structural equation modeling indicated that parenting self-efficacy and parenting behavior were significant mediators of the relation between husband support and depression and child's self-esteem in Korea mothers, but in female international marriage immigrants. The results will be helpful for understanding parenting for child self-esteem in both groups.

  • 우울은 스트레스의 적응과정에서 나타나는 신체적 증상과 더불어, 근심, 침울함, 실패감, 무력감과 같은 심리적 증상을 나타내는 정신적 상태로, 우울의 경험 정도에 따라 개인에게 인지, 정서, 그리고 행동장애를 야기할 수 있다. 특히, 성장기에 경험하는 우울은 아동, 청소년들의 학업에 대한 집중력을 저하시키며, 폭력성 및 대인관계의 문제를 증가시켜 개인과 사회에 심각한 손실을 끼칠 수도 있다. 따라서 아동, 청소년들의 심리적 발달과정에 대한 사회적 관심과 적절한 대응방안이 요구된다. 본 연구는 이러한 배경을 근거로 여학생들의 성장과정에서 겪는 가정과 학교에서의 폭력 피해 경험이 우울에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 혼합모형을 이용하여 분석하였다.

어머니의 분노 및 우울 치료와 자기존중감 향상을 위한 웃음치료 집단상담 프로그램의 효과 (The Effectiveness of a Laughter Therapy Group Counseling Program for Anxiety, Depression, and Low Self-Esteem in Mothers)

  • The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a Laughter Therapy Group Counseling Program on overcoming anxiety, depression, and improving the self-esteem of mothers. The State-Trait Anger Scale, the Beck Depression Inventory, and the Self-Esteem Scale were used as a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up test respectively. The test results were analyzed using a t-test, a one-way analysis of variance. Twelve mothers suffering from anxiety and depression participated in eight sessions of the program, and were then compared with twelve mothers in the control group who did not receive the treatment. The treatment group showed statistically significant improvements in self-esteem, and reduced levels of anxiety and depression, in comparison to the control group. It was concluded that the program was effective in overcoming anxiety, depression, and improving self-esteem in mothers.

암환아의 개인적 변인과 사회적 지지 지각이 불안, 우울 및 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 (Anxiety, Depression, and Self-Esteem in Children with Cancer : The Influence of Personal Variables and Perception of Social Support)

  • This study analyzed the influences of personal variables and perception of social support on the anxiety, depression and self-esteem of 102 children with cancer living in Seoul. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and hierarchical multiple regression. Results showed that personal variables that influenced depression, anxiety and self-esteem of children with cancer were sex, grade in school, monthly income of the family, and regularity of school attendance. Perception of social support influenced depression and self-esteem; subjects higher in perception of social support were lower in depression and higher in self-esteem.

청소년의 자기효능감이 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향 : 우울과 공격성의 매개효과 (The Effects of Self-Efficacy on Adolescents' School Adjustment : The Mediating Effects of Depression and Aggression)

  • The aims of this study were to investigate the effects of self-efficacy on adolescents' school adjustments and to identify mediating effects of depression and aggression. To this end, we conducted descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and path analysis, using data from the 2008 Korean Youth Panel Survey undertaken by the National Youth Policy Institute. Our analysis shows that self-efficacy has positive effects on adolescents' school adjustments, while both depression and aggression have negative effects on adolescents' school adjustments. Moreover, both depression and aggression have a mediating effect when it comes to self-efficacy and school adjustments. These results imply that schools should consider developing a service delivery system by providing students with professional services that enhance self-efficacy. Moreover, such services will be more effective when they are combined with a program that reduces students' depression and aggression.

한부모 가정 초등학생을 위한 자아존중감 향상 프로그램의 효과 (Effect of Self-esteem Improvement Program for Elementary School Children from Single-parent Families)

  • 본 연구는 자아존중감 향상 프로그램이 한부모 가정 초등학생의 자아존중감과 우울에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구에 참여한 대상자들은 본 프로그램에 동의한 두 개의 초등학교 한부모 가정 아동 중 지원자를 받아 A학교를 실험군(12명)으로, B학교를 대조군(13명)으로 임의 배정하고 프로그램 시작 전에 자아존중감과 우울 척도를 이용하여 사전 검사를 실시하였다. 실험군에게는 한부모 가정 초등학생을 위한 자아존감향상 프로그램을 제공하였다. 실험처치는 실험군 12명을 6명씩 2집단으로 나누어 주 1회 40분씩 총 10회기를 진행하였다. 프로그램 종료 후 실험군, 대조군에게 자존감과 우울 척도를 이용하여 사후 검사를 실시하였다. 사후 검사에서 실험군 1명의 자료가 결측되어 최종 실험군 11명, 대조군 13명의 자료가 수집되었다. 연구결과 대조군 보다 실험군이 유의한 수준에서 자아존중감이 증가(z=-2.499, p<.012, ES(d)=0.7)하고, 우울이 감소(z=-2.145, p<.032, ES(d)=-0.4) 되었다. 이러한 결과는 본 연구의 프로그램이 한부모 가정 초등학생들의 심리사회적 적응을 위해 유용하게 사용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
