Study on the Solubilization of 4-Halogenated Anilines by Cationic Surfactants (DTAB, TTAB, and CTAB) (양이온성 계면활성제(DTAB, TTAB 및 CTAB)에 의한 4-할로겐화 아닐린의 가용화에 대한 연구)

  • The solubilization constants (Ks) of 4-halogenated aniline derivatives by cationic surfactants (DTAB, TTAB, and CTAB) were measured by the UV-Vis method. As a result, the Ks values decreased as the temperature increased for all the aniline derivatives and showed a tendency to increase as the radius of the halogen substituent and the hydrophobic length of surfactant increased. The calculated values of ΔGo and ΔHo for these solubilizations all showed negative values within the measured range, but all the ΔSo values showed positive values. For all the 4-halogenated anilines, the ΔGo values all tended to decrease as the temperature increased, but both values of ΔHo and ΔSo showed a tendency to increase. In addition, as the radius of the halogen substituent increased, the values of ΔHo and ΔSo tended to decrease in general. However, when the hydrophobic group length of the surfactant was increased, the values of these thermodynamic functions showed a tendency to increase in general, although it differed depending on the type of aniline derivative. From the changes of such functions, it was possible to estimate the type and strength of interactions between 4-halogenated aniline and micelle, and the location at which they were solubilized in the micelle.

  • The electrochemical impedance spectra of polyaniline film coated on tungsten electrodes by cyclic voltammetry have been measured in 0.1 M aqueous sulfuric acid solution. An electrochemical cell composed of large redox capacitance and low resistance of PANI-film in series was in agreement with the conductive behavior reported at these potentials. When the PANI was coated on bare tungsten, the electrolytic resistance was only observed. However, on the oxidized tungsten instead of bare tungsten, the resistance of tungsten oxide and the contact resistance between PANI and tungsten oxide were additionally observed. Equivalent electrical circuits have been deduced from the impedance data. It was therfore possible to obtain the parameters of the ionic mass transport within the film.

  • Rates of reactions of 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene and 2,4-dinitrobromobenzene with para substituted anilines in acetonitrile-methanol binary mixtures have been measured. It has been shown that methanol acts as nucleophilic catalyst upon reaction of 2,4-dinitrobromobenzene with anilines and as bifunctional catalyst upon reaction of 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene with anilines. The electrophilic catalysis by methanol probably consists of formation of hydrogen bond in the transition state between alcoholic hydrogen and leaving group, fluorine. Nucleophilic catalysis by methanol may be ascribed to formation of hydrogen bond between alcoholic oxygen and amine hydrogen in the transition state.

  • Polyanilines were prepared by the oxidative polymerization in the presence of ammonium persulfate as an oxidant. After dehydration, a doping was carried out by mixing the polymer solution with dopants and immersing into aqueous dopant solutions. Using various riopants, the d-spacing of polyanilines can be controlled from $3.72{\AA}$ to $4.844{\AA}$. The d-spacing of polyanilines with polymeric or bulky dopants was larger than that of as-cast polyaniline. The characterization of the physical properties were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dielectric analyzer (DEA) etc. Annealed polyaniline membrane exhibited the oxygen permeability of 0.072 barrer and the oxygen selectivity to nitrogen was 6.87. For the gas separation of polyanilines with polymeric or bulky riopants, the permeability increased while the selectivity detereased. Permeability can be readily controlled by the use of bulky dopants.

  • The reactions of 2,4-dinitroiodobenzene with para subtituted anilines in acetonitrile-methanol binary solvent mixtures have been studied. Rate constants for reactions in methanol rich solvents are greater than for reactions in acetonitrile rich solvents. Kinetic results show that the bond formation step is rate determining in the solvent system studied. The solvent effect can be explained by stabilization of the transition state by formation of hydrogen bond between oxygen atom of methanol and hydrogen atom of aniline.

  • 전기장 하에서 폴리아닐린/미네랄 오일 현탁액의 유변학적 특성에 관한 실험적인 연 구를 큐엣 셀 형태의 레오미터를 사용하여수행하였다. 폴리아닐린 현탁액은 전기장을 가해 줄 때 점도가 크게 상승하는 현상을 보였고 부피분율과 전기장의 3/2승에 비례하는 동적 항 복응력을 나타내었다. 작은 변형 진폭의 동적 상태 실험을 통하여 저장계수와 손실계수를 변형진폭, 변형의 구동 주파수 및 전기장의 함수로 나타내었다. 저장계수는 전기장을 증가시 킬 때 증가하나 손실계수(5wt%)는 약한 전기장 의존성을 보였다. 낮은 응력을 가해줄때의 크립과 회복곡선은 초기의 순간적인 변형 증가와 지연되는 변형 그리고 회복 불가능한 영구 적 변형으로 구성되어진다. 탄성 한계 항복응력은 전기장의 세기가 증가함에 따라 증가하였 다. 매우 작은 변형에서는 응력과 변형사이의 선형적 관계를 보여 고체와 유사한 거동을 나 타내었다.

  • Kinetic studies on the rates of reactions of 2, 4-dinitrochlorobenzene with p-toluidine, aniline and p-chloroaniline in $CH_3CH-CH_3OH$ binary solvent mixtures have been carried out. The experimental results have been explained in terms of the specific solvation by alcoholic hydrogen. It has been shown that the bond breaking step is rate determining in the solvent system studied and the energy barrier is getting low as the solvent changes from acetonitrile to methanol.

  • The electrochemical impedance spectra of polyaniline film prepared by cyclic voltammetry have been investigated in 0.1 M aqueous sulfuric acid solution. Charge transfer resistances were rather low at the oxidized states in agreement with the conductive behavior reported at these potentials. The corresponding exchange current densities were very high. Large values of capacitance associated with the polymer have been found which vary as a function of the electrode potentials. An equivalent electrical circuit has been deduced from the impedance data. It was therefore possible to obtain the parameters of the ionic mass transport within the film.

The Complexes of Iodine with Ortho-Substituted Anilines in Carbon Tetrachloride (오르토 치환 아닐린과 요오드 사이의 착물에 관한 연구)

  • The interactions of aniline, o-toluidine, o-ethylaniline and o-chloroaniline with iodine in carbon tetrachloride solution have been examined through spectrophotometric measurements. The results indicate that both aniline and the o-substituted anilines examined form one-to-one complexes with I2in solution. The formation constants of the complexes measured at room temperature are 12.8, 9.31, 3.15 and 0.576 l $mole^{-1}$, respectively. Comparison of these results with previous experimental results indicates that the relative stabilities of the $I_2$-amine complexes decrease in the following order: $C_6H_5N(C_2H_5)_2 >C_6H_5N(CH_3)_2 >C_6H_5NH_2 >o-CH_3C_6H_4NH_2 >o-C_2H_5C_6H_4NH_2 >o-ClC_6H_4NH_2$. This may support the conclusion that the relative stabilities of these complexes are explained by the inductive effect and steric hindrance of the substituents.
