  • This study aimed to explore empirically social work practice skills that are being used most frequently in a variety of social work settings in Korea. Out of 669 questionnaire sent, 361 were returned. Exploratory factor analysis revealed 7 underlying axes from 132 most frequently used practice skills. They were named as: casework skills, group work skills, family work skills, community work skills, volunteer managing skills, program development and evaluation skills, and agency managing skills. Second factor analysis explored underlying sub-factors from each of the seven axes. Researcher identified 42 principal skills that can represent the underlying sub-factors explored in the previous stage. Finally, research checked if the different work settings use different practice skill axes. Study results can be used to connect social work education settings and practice fields in Korea. There has been an argument that Korean social work education has been teaching improper practice skills to the to-be-social workers.

To this end, the effect of environmental responsibility activities, social responsibility activities, and governance activities in terms of environment (E), social (S), and governance (G), which are the three elements of ESG, on management performance, mediating organizational effectiveness, and controlling corporate value perception, were empirically analyzed. The analysis results are as follows. First, environmental responsibility activities, social responsibility activities, and governance activities all had a positive (+) effect on management performance. Second, environmental responsibility activities, social responsibility activities, and governance activities all had a positive (+) effect on organizational effectiveness. Third, it was found that organizational effectiveness plays a partial mediating role between environmental responsibility activities, social responsibility activities, governance activities, and management performance. Fourth, it was found that corporate value perception has a moderating effect on environmental responsibility activities and governance activities, excluding social responsibility activities. Therefore, strengthening ESG practice will not only be essential for investment, but also help improve management performance. In addition, the results of this study suggest that ESG education for members should be strengthened to promote ESG practice, and it is necessary to re-establish management strategies so that corporate values reflect ESG.

  • Theoretical review of the PR activities was initiated using Lasswell's (1948) SMCRE model to evaluate the indicators of the collaborative programs with NGO and the outcome of the activities promoting energy-saving programs. The indicators were then set based on a case study by Nho Younhwoo (2012). This paper aims to develop evaluation indicators for the activities promoting energy-saving programs and evaluate how energy consumers recognize the reputations of PR agencies (sender), PR content (message), PR media outlets (channel), and the degree to which such PR activities induce energy-saving behaviors.

  • The Purpose of this study is to understand phases and paradigms related to voluntary services offered by undergraduates and the processes in which voluntary services are implemented. For this, interviews for 23(men: 10, women: 13) undergraduates were conducted from Aug., 2008 to Apr., 2009 were conducted and the data collected from those interviews were analyzed on the basis of the Grounded Theory. Main analysis procedure is known as codings(open coding, axial coding, selective coding). This analyses produced 119 concepts, 41 subcategories, and 16 categories in open coding. Then, axial coding was conducted to organize the basic framework of generic relationships among psychological motivation, social context, personal perception, practical action, psychological response, and psychological consequence. Core essence is "Volunteer types are categorized simple practice type, self-serving type, and community type." Finally, undergraduate volunteers were explained in 3 types(simple practice, self-serving, and community) on the basis of paradigms. These results were discussed in terms of further research and limitation.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the nature of inquiry activities proposed in high school physics textbooks that were developed based on the 2009 science curriculum in Korea. The inquiry activities were analyzed using the notion of scientific practices introduced in the Science Education Framework (NRC, 2012). The results showed that the inquiry activities in the textbooks emphasized two of eight types of scientific practices including "Analyzing and interpreting data" and "Constructing explanations". In contrast, the activities required students to "ask questions" only once in a total of 291 science inquiry activities. The other types of scientific practices appeared less than 10%. Also found was that the types of scientific practices were not relevant to the way inquiry activities were used for textbook content. Implications for the curriculum and science teacher education were discussed.

  • Science practice is a process of establishing new relationships with 'foreign things' such as learning objects or tools for observation and measurement. Since the practice of science in major subjects has been increasingly emphasized, we sought to understand the meaning co-created by students and numerous materials who have experienced astronomical observation as a Deleuzian experience of "becoming". We collected activity logs and photographic data written by 17 students participating in astronomical observation activities at "A" High School, and conducted in-depth interviews with the students. We assessed the collected data by reconstructing a situation analysis. The main research results include the students' existential-epistemological 'becoming' process: 1) discovering newness through repetition, 2) becoming an 'explanation machine' to convey the affect of astronomical observation activities, 3) breaking out of a stabilized territory, and crossing a threshold. Based on the results, we suggested the need for follow-up research on the practices and new experimental approaches of teachers in earth science education.
