Exploratory Study on Experience in Cultural Competence of Multicultural Counselors Working with Female Immigrants by Marriage (결혼이주여성 대상 다문화 상담자들의 문화적 역량 관련 경험에 관한 탐색적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the experience in cultural competence of multicultural counselors working with female immigrants by marriage. In-depth interviews, followed by a phenomenological analysis, were conducted on 10 multicultural counselors. 6 themes were emerged from data analysis: facing difficulties due to linguistic and cultural differences, feeling doubts about self and one's ability, reflecting self, putting efforts to learn other cultures and groups, realizing changes, and feeling insecure still. 3 categories appeared from the 6 themes above: difficulties, efforts to change, and change and limitations. Based on the results, social work suggestions for increasing cultural competence of multicultural counselors were discussed.

A Study on the Evaluation of the Enhancement Program of the Social Work Practice Competency for children of Community Child Center Workers (지역아동센터 종사자의 아동 대상 실천역량 향상 프로그램 평가 연구)

  • This study aimed to implement the enhancement program for the social work practice competency for children of community child center workers and to evaluate the program's effects. For this purpose, the program was implemented for ten community child center workers five times for five weeks(once a week, 120 minutes per session). For the quantitative evaluation, a non-equivalent control group design among quasi-experimental designs was used, and for the qualitative evaluation, the written materials related with the program were collected and analyzed. The results of the quantitative evaluation revealed that the social work practice skills and worker-client relationship empowerment of the community child center workers who participated in the competency enhancement program were significantly improved. In the qualitative evaluation, the subjective experiences were presented, including the improvement of the worker's practice competency and the worker's awareness of the changes in the child, the recognition of the strong points and the points to be improved in the program. This study is expected to raise the expertise and effectiveness of community child center workers, and ultimately, to contribute to the healthy development and the improvement of the mental health of children by improving the social work practice competency of the workers in community child centers, which comprise the representative service delivery system for children in South Korea.

The practitioners' perceptions on settlement of cultural welfare policy (문화복지 제도정착에 관한 실천가 인식)

  • This study was based on politic reality which is being developed within the ambiguity of cultural welfare, and discussed what sort of awareness the practitioners show in the settlement process of the cultural welfare policy in depth. 4 elements were discovered in the settlement process of the cultural welfare policy which the practitioners are aware of. The elements are value(pursuit of comprehensive mankind), element of practice(process of operation), elements of external influences(process of policy settlement), and elements of internal influences(reinforcement of practitioners capability). This means that not only the process of policy settlement in a narrow sense, but also value, practice, and reinforcement of practitioners' capability for the provision of better service should be considered for the settlement of the policy. This study which analyzed the cultural welfare practitioners' awareness of policy settlement process is significant in that it provides the basic data for future settlement of the cultural welfare policy.

Management Competency Model of Vocational Training Institutes and Needs Assessment (직업훈련기관장 경영 역량모델 수립 및 요구도분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a competency model that enhances the management capabilities of vocational training institutions and to identify the priorities of educational needs. After reviewing prior studies to tentatively establish a competency model, a training needs assessment was conducted in the field using this model. Data for the analysis were collected through a survey conducted among vocational training institutions. Following the needs assessment, a new management competency model for vocational training institutions was formulated, comprising six competencies and 26 competency dimensions, by eliminating the dimensions considered relatively less important. The competency model developed through this study is anticipated to be utilized in creating management education programs for directors of domestic vocational training institutions.

Practitioners' Experience at the Community Addiction Management Centers on intervening Alcoholic-batterers (음주가정폭력행위자에 개입하는 중독관리통합지원센터 실무자의 실천경험)

  • This study targets on overall understanding about practitioners' experience at the community addiction management centers on intervening alcoholic-batterers. This research is a qualitative case study based on data that are collected from fifteen practitioners' interview experiences of both focus group and individual and data from supervising, advising, and workshop attending. As a result, the research shows that 'Overwhelmed to deal with alcoholic-batterers', 'Strengthening ability through pre-performances', 'Making an effort continuously to solve problems' and 'Unwillingness changes by intervening alcoholic-batterers' on upper categories of practitioners' experiences. Under alternative solutions and practical categories, it shows that 'Gaps between the needs and the reality' and 'Concrete needs to achieve competence'. To provide effective strategies, the study suggests practical and political implications that are reflected specific environments of the community addiction management centers.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the influence of marketing capabilities on business performance among SMEs. The results suggest that complexity, trialability, and observability are among the technological factors that have a significant influence on ICT adoption. Research advantage and compatibility do not influence ICT adoption. Meanwhile, organizational factors such as owner/manager knowledge and innovativeness significantly influence ICT adoption among SMEs. Environmental factors such as competitive pressure, institutional intervention contribute significantly to the adoption. Moreover, data analysis reveals that ICT adoption has a positive influence toward SMEs' marketing capabilities. Finally marketing capabilities significantly influence a firm's business performance.

The Influence of Career-Education on Job Satisfaction in the Multicultural Family Service Centers Focused on the Mediating effects of Multicultural Practice Competence and Organizational Climate (다문화가족지원센터의 직무 재교육이 직무만족도에 미치는 영향: 조직풍토와 다문화실천역량의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed the influence of career-education on job satisfaction in the multicultural family service centers focused on the mediating effects of multicultural practice competence and organizational climate. A self-reported questionnaire survey was done on 180 multicultural practitionser in Seoul and Kyunggi Do. A total of 175 copies were used for final analysis with ones insincerely made were excluded. Collected date underwent Multivariate structural equation model analysis using AMOS 21.0 and frequency, descriptive, and corelation analysis were made using SPSS 20.0. Statistical program. The study results revealed that career-education directly affect organizational climate and multicultural practice competence, and organizational climate directly affected job satisfaction. Career education did not affect job satisfaction, but organizational climate had complete mediating effect in the structural equation model. Additionally multicultural practice competence didn't have an effect on job satisfaction and mediating effect in the structural equation model. Based on the results, intervention strategies to increase job satisfaction of multicultural practitioners and future study implications were suggested.

Strengthening Teacher Competencies in Response to the Expanding Role of AI (AI의 역할 확대에 따른 교사 역량 강화 방안)

  • This study investigates the changes in teachers' roles as the impact of AI on school education expands. Traditionally, teachers have been responsible for core aspects of classroom instruction, curriculum development, assessment, and feedback. AI can automate these processes, particularly enhancing efficiency through personalized learning. AI also supports complex classroom management tasks such as student tracking, behavior detection, and group activity analysis using integrated camera and microphone systems. However, AI struggles to automate aspects of counseling and interpersonal communication, which are crucial in student life guidance. While direct conversational replacement by AI is challenging, AI can assist teachers by providing data-driven insights and pre-conversation resources. Key competencies required for teachers in the AI era include expertise in advanced instructional methods, dataset analysis, personalized learning facilitation, student and parent counseling, and AI digital literacy. Teachers should collaborate with AI to emphasize creativity, adjust personalized learning paths based on AI-generated datasets, and focus on areas less amenable to AI automation, such as individualized learning and counseling. Essential skills include AI digital literacy and proficiency in understanding and managing student data.

A Study of the Relationship of Green Dietary Education, Self-esteem and Happiness of Middle School Home Economics Students (가정교과의 녹색식생활 교육과 중학생의 자아존중감 및 행복감과의 관계 연구)

  • Green dietary education emphasized environmental protection and humanity being conducted in middle schools. To develop effective green dietary education program for adolescents, the factors that affected their green dietary practices has been identified. This study aims to identify psychological factors that drive green dietary practices and effect of dietary education that targets middle school students. Data was collected twice from 242 middle school students in Daegu using a self-administered questionnaire in March and June, 2014. There were significant differences in school achievement, economic level and allowance a month (p<0.05) in the green dietary practices and efficacy of students. Three areas (environment, health and traditional, and appreciation & consideration) which were subgroups of green dietary practices were associated with factors such as family relations, peer relationships, self-competence of self-esteem (p<0.05), and positive and negative feelings of happiness (p<0.001). Green dietary practices efficacy was significantly affected by family relations, peer relationships, self-competence of self-esteem (p<0.05), and positive feeling, negative feeling, and negative relationships of happiness (p<0.001). After green dietary education, interests in green dietary, green dietary practices score, the score of health and environment factors of green dietary practices efficacy significantly higher than before education (p<0.05), but all the factors of self-esteem and happiness did not have any significant changes. This study suggests that green dietary education programs for middle school students could account for psychological factors such as self-esteem, happiness according to gender, school records, economic level and allowance a month to be effective.

  • This study analyzes the competency model of the Learning Factory at TU Darmstadt, Germany, aiming to derive implications for developing competency-based curricula in South Korean universities. It proposes an integrated model that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, allowing for the transformation of existing knowledge into necessary competencies for task execution. Additionally, it advocates for a learner-centered approach that enhances active engagement in the learning process, empowering students to take charge of their education. By implementing this integrated and learner-centered model, students can develop the transformative competencies required for future societal demands. This approach is expected to act as a catalyst for advancing competency-based education within South Korea's higher education system, ultimately fostering a more effective and responsive educational environment.
