A Design and Implementation for a Reliable Data Storage in a Digital Tachograph (디지털 자동차운행기록계에서 안정적인 데이터 저장을 위한 설계 및 구현)

  • The digital tachograph is a device that automatically records speed and distance of a vehicle, together with the driver's activity and vehicle status at an accident. It records vehicle speed, break status, acceleration, engine RPM, longitude and latitude of GPS, accumulated distance, and so on. European Commission regulation made digital tachographs mandatory for all trucks from 2005. Republic of Korea made digital tachographs mandatory for all new business vehicles from 2011 and is widening the range of vehicles that must install digital tachographs year by year. This device is used to analyze driver's daily driving information and car accidents. Under a car accident that makes the device reliability unpredictable, it is very important to store driving information with maximum reliability for its original mission. We designed and implemented a practical digital tachograph. This paper presents a storage scheme that consists of a first storage device with small capacity at a high reliability and a second storage device with large capacity at a low cost in order to reliably records data with a hardware at a low cost. The first storage device records data in a SLC NAND flash memory in a log-structured style. We present a reverse partial scan that overcomes the slow scan time of log-structured storages at the boot stage. The scheme reduced the scan time of the first storage device by 1/50. In addition, our design includes a scheme that fast stores data at a moment of accident by 1/20 of data transfer time of a normal method.

Development of the computer program calculating the stress induced by various loads for buried natural gas pipeline (II) (매설 천연가스 배관의 제반하중에 의한 응력 계산용 프로그램 개발 (II))

  • The thickness of buried gas pipeline is determined mainly with internal pressure and location factor according to the requirements of ANSI B3l.8. But the stress of buried gas pipeline is determined by not only internal stress but also external loads. The change of burying and environmental conditions, therefore, may result in increasing stress of pipeline. In order to avoid the decrease of safety degree resulting from change of environmental condition, the evaluation of stress level shall be necessary. The reliable equations have been developed for calculating stress of buried pipeline from internal pressure, earth load, vehicle load, ground subsidence. But they are very difficult to understand and use for non-specialist. For easy calculation of non-specialist, the new computer program to calculate stress of buried natural gas pipeline have been developed. The program can calculate maximum stress resulted from earth load, vehicle load, thermal load, four type ground subsidence. The stress is calculated by the equations and extrapolation of the graph resulted from FEM. In this paper, as the series of paper I, the operating method and the functions of the program is explained.

Analysis of relationship between exhibitions of public astronomical science museums and science curriculum revision, 2009 (천문과학관의 전시자료와 2009 개정 과학과 교육과정과의 관련성 분석)

  • Since Daejeon observatory has been built as the first astronomical science museum(ASM) whose theme is astronomy and space, many ASMs have been built or are being built by the governmental support. ASMs are requested to perform an important role as the educational venue that can be experienced the scientific activities for supplementing regular science education. This study investigated the analysis of the connection to astronomy-related contents of science curriculum revised in 2009 for exhibits of 17 ASMs. As a result, exhibits of ASMs show the low reflectivity to science curriculum and are very biased to standard of accomplishment. That is, they are not sufficient enough for the students to reach the learning objectives. However the astronomical scientific activities which are hard to be performed in regular school curriculum can be experienced at ASMs. Additionally, since exhibits of ASMs are easy to access and accept, they can provide the effective educational activities and learning effect. Therefore, ASMs have to be improved for supplementing regular science education through the informal curriculum of astronomical scientific activities by the producing and displaying good astronomy-related exhibits.

Abstraction Mechanism of Low-Level Video Features for Automatic Retrieval of Explosion Scenes (폭발장면 자동 검출을 위한 저급 수준 비디오 특징의 추상화)

  • This paper proposes an abstraction mechanism of the low-level digital video features for the automatic retrievals of the explosion scenes from the digital video library. In the proposed abstraction mechanism, the regional dominant colors of the key frame and the motion energy of the shot are defined as the primary abstractions of the shot for the explosion scene retrievals. It is because an explosion shot usually consists of the frames with a yellow-tone pixel and the objects in the shot are moved rapidly. The regional dominant colors of shot are selected by dividing its key frame image into several regions and extracting their regional dominant colors, and the motion energy of the shot is defined as the edge image differences between key frame and its neighboring frame. The edge image of the key frame makes the retrieval of the explosion scene more precisely, because the flames usually veils all other objects in the shot so that the edge image of the key frame comes to be simple enough in the explosion shot. The proposed automatic retrieval algorithm declares an explosion scene if it has a shot with a yellow regional dominant color and its motion energy is several times higher than the average motion energy of the shots in that scene. The edge image of the key frame is also used to filter out the false detection. Upon the extensive exporimental results, we could argue that the recall and precision of the proposed abstraction and detecting algorithm are about 0.8, and also found that they are not sensitive to the thresholds. This abstraction mechanism could be used to summarize the long action videos, and extract a high level semantic information from digital video archive.

An Experimental Study on the Fundamental Characteristics of LPG Gas Injections System (LPG 가스분사시스템의 기초특성에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, butane 100% was used as fuel to verify the real fuel effect such as vapor pressure variation due to temperature change. A MPI fuel injection system for V-6 engine, which has reverse 'L' type cross section to minimize the possibility of liquid phase injection, was composed and one bank was operated under sequential injection scheme. Flow rate were measured according to injection duration, interval, and pressure. Also occurring of liquid phase injection was monitored with varying vaporizer and fuel rail temperature. The result shows that basic characteristics of injection is a relatively difference between air and LPG injection. Under cold start condition, however, the occurrence of liquid injection becomes more severe as the pressure increases, and sufficiently high temperature both in vaporizer and fuel rail is very important to insure gaseous injection. In addition, the temperature of vaporizer plays more important role in keeping LPG vapor state and the reverse 'L' type cross section of the rail is available to prevent liquid injection.

  • In industry, it is a current trend that systems are developed by using Enterprise JavaBeans(EJB) technology for reducing the cost and the time. Thus, the architecture of EJB is getting more essential to enhance reusability, extensibility and portability of system. However little has been studied in the realm of the practical software architectures for EJB. The architecture has just bean studied in abstract level, but not in concrete level providing the method to substantiate it using the practical J2EE techniques. Just using the EJB technology doesn't guarantee the reusability of the artifacts because EJB specification provides the characteristics and architecture for only fine grained components as session and entity bean. In this paper, we propose the enterprise software architecture for the systems based on EJB and the concrete techniques for implementing that. Also, design patterns of modeling efficient enterprise architecture are represented. By analyzing both the strengths and the weaknesses of suggested design patterns, EJB design patterns which are suitable for each layer of enterprise architecture will be identified. Through the component which design patterns are applied, the architecture can support the optimized relationship between the components. Five techniques for designing components from fine grained to coarse grained based on EJB technology, and architecture design techniques including transaction and assembling techniques are proposed.

  • Recently, domain-specific demands with respect to practical applications and analysis scheme using spatial thematic information are increasing. Accordingly, in this study, GIS-based application program is implemented to perform spatial analysis in transportation geography with base road layer data. Using this program, quantitative estimation of circuity and accessibility, which can be extracted from nodes composed of the graph-typed network structure, in a arbitrary analysis zone or administrative boundary zone is possible. Circuity is a concept to represent the difference extent between actual nodes and fully connected nodes in the analysis zone. While, accessibility can be used to find out extent of accessibility or connectivity between all nodes contained in the analysis zone, judging from inter-connecting status of the whole nodes. In put data of this program, which was implemented in AVX executable extension using AvenueTM of ArcView, is not transportation database information based on transportation data model, but layer data, directly obtaining from digital map sets. It is thought that computation of circuity and accessibility can be used as kinds of spatial analysis functions for GIS applications in the transportation field.

  • In the era of M-ICT (mobile information communication technology), it is becoming more and more important to establish a city brand image that is "user-centered" and creates a new experience of "interaction between people, people and things, and people and space". The experience of city users on the brand image of a city is the key factor to determine the competitiveness of the city, among which the user's research on the touch point of the city brand is particularly important. The purpose of this study is to enhance the user's brand experience and enhance the city's brand competitiveness. The research methods of this paper are literature review and investigation. Firstly, the background and purpose of the study are expounded, then the characteristics and ways of user experience touch points are defined through the document review, and the multi-latitude composition model of city brand touch points is proposed. By means of user investigation, the structural characteristics of high frequency touch points between digital touch points and physical touch points are obtained. According to the problems found in the investigation, the optimal design strategy of touch point is put forward in combination with the case. The innovation of this study is to study the relationship between the city brand and the touch point of user experience from the perspective of user experience, and propose a multi-latitude model of the touch point of city brand.

  • 공공수역 수질오염 관리에 있어 비점오염원 관리의 중요성이 크게 부각되고 있다. 새만금호 유역은 농경지비율이 40%로서 넓기 때문에 농업비점오염 관리가 중요하다. 농업비점오염 저감을 위한 기법 연구는 국내에서 그 간 상당 수준으로 진행되었지만, 그 기법을 실행할 주체인 농업인이나 지역주민의 역량이나 농업비점오염의 인지도에 대한 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 새만금유역에서 농업비점오염과 관련된 주체들 간의 정보의 소통과 흐름에 대하여 분석해보고, 또한 농업오염 교육 전후에 있어서 지역주민과 농업인의 농업비점오염에 대한 인식도와 교육효과에 대해서 살펴보았다. 먼저, 농업비점오염과 관련된 주체들 간의 지식흐름은 매크로레벨 즉, 정책입안자, 전문가 레벨에서 관련정보가 정체되어 있었고, 실제 농업비점오염 관련 저감 기법이나 정책을 실행하는 주체인 마이크로레벨의 농업인과 지역주민, 이를 지원하는 시군 공무원, 지역전문가 등 매소레벨을 지원하기 위한 정보로 가공 전달되지 못하고 있었다. 농업부서와 환경부서 사이의 농업비점오염에 대한 인식도의 차이가 크게 나타났으며, 특정 분야를 중심으로 활발한 소통이 있는 반면, 정보의 의도적 차단, 자기조직의 대응을 위한 형식적, 임시적 소통이 이루어지고 있었다. 귀농인과 친환경농업인에 대한 교육을 통하여 농업비점오염에 대한 인식도는 교육 전 38.1%에서 교육 후 100%로, 교육 후 농업비점이 오염원이라는 인식도도 친환경농업인 91%, 귀농귀촌인 78%로 응답하였다. 농업비점오염원 관리가 수질개선에 미치는 효과에 대하여는 친환경농업인은 5점 만점에 3.67점, 귀농귀촌인은 4.05점, 농업비점오염원 관리가 필요한지에 대하여 친환경농업인은 4.05점, 귀농귀촌인은 4.09점으로 두 집단 모두 농업비점오염원 관리가 필요하다고 응답하였다. 반면, 친환경 농업은 저감기법의 오염 저감 효과는 높게 인식하였지만, 직접 실행해 볼 의사는 3.4점, 저감 기법을 주위에 소개나 권고할 의사는 3.5점이었다. 또한, 실행 가능한 저감 기법으로는 퇴액비 사용, 완효성 비료사용, 녹비작물재배 등의 순이었다. 저감기법이 어렵다고 응답한 이유는 복잡할거 같다, 귀잖을 것 같다, 추가비용으로 손해, 저감효과 신뢰성 부족, 농업은 오염원이 아니다 등으로 나타났다. 이상의 연구결과를 살펴볼 때, 주체들 간의 정보와 지식흐름을 이어줄 중간조직의 필요성과 농업인의 인식의 변화가 행동의 변화로 이어질 수 있는 교육?홍보 기법과 농업인의 수용성이 높은 저감기법의 개발과 보급이 필요함을 시사하였다.

Evaluation of Seismic Performance of Pile-supported Wharves with Batter Piles through Response Spectrum Analysis (응답스펙트럼해석을 통한 경사말뚝이 설치된 잔교식 안벽의 내진성능 평가)

  • The pile-supported wharf is the port structure in which the upper deck is supported by piles or columns. By installing batter piles in this structure, horizontal load such as earthquake loads can be partially delivered as axial forces. The codes suggests using the response spectrum analysis as a preliminary design method for seismic design of pile-supported wharf, and suggests modeling the piles using virtual fixed points or soil spring methods for this analysis. Recently, several studies have been conducted on pile-supported wharves composed of vertical piles to derive a modeling method that appropriately simulates the dynamic response of structures during response spectrum analysis. However, studies related to the response spectrum analysis of pile-supported wharves with batter piles are insufficient so far. Therefore, this study performed the dynamic centrifuge model test and response spectrum analysis to evaluate the seismic performance according to the modeling method of pile-supported wharves with batter piles. As a result of test and analysis, it is confirmed that modeling using the Terzaghi (1955) constant of horizontal subgrade reaction (nh) most appropriately simulates the actual response in the case of the pile-supported wharf with batter piles.
