A Scalable Networked Virtual Reality System (확장성을 고려한 네트워크형 가상현실 시스템)

  • Introduction of motion video including live video into network virtual reality systems makes virtual spaces more attractive. To handle live video in networked virtual reality s)'stems based on VRML, the scalability of networked virtual reality systems becomes very important on the internet where the performance of the network and the end systems varies dynamically. In this paper, a new quality control algorithm suitable for scalable networked virtual reality systems with live video capability is proposed. Our approach is to introduce the notion of the importance of presence (IoP) which represents the importance of objects in virtual spaces. According to IoPs, the degree of the deterioration of each object presentation will be determined in case of the starvation of system resources.

  • Recently, smart intersections have been installed in many intelligent transportation system projects, but few cases use them for traffic signal operations besides traffic volume collection and statistical analysis. In order to respond to chronic traffic congestion, it is necessary to implement efficient signal operations using data collected from smart intersections. Therefore, this study establishes a procedure for operating a real-time traffic signal control algorithm using smart intersection data for efficient traffic signal operations and improving the existing algorithm. Effect analysis confirmed that intersection delays are reduced and the section speed improves when the offset is adjusted.

  • Considering QoS only considering real-time multimedia service, it is possible to adjust the number of terminals and ensure them appropriately, but this study considers complex services considering real-time multimedia service and general data service. Since the amount of physical network resources is limited, the guarantee of the desired QoS can not be achieved unless the appropriate CAC is done. However, given the traffic profile and QoS spec of the entire network resource and the current service being provided, and the traffic profile and QoS spec of the newly requested service, it is quite difficult to determine exactly whether the new service request is acceptable from this. To do this, it is necessary to study in various directions from mathematical analysis to various simulations and statistical research based on data obtained from actual network operation.

  • To satisfy the requirements of the real-time Internet services, queue management and scheduling schemes should be enhanced to accommodate the delay and jitter characteristic of them. Although the existing queue management schemes can address the congestion problems of TCP flows, they have some problems in supporting real-time services. That is, they show performance degradation when burst traffics are continuously going into the system after the queue is occupied at a predefined threshold level. In addition, under the congestion state, they show large jitter, which is not a desirable phenomenon for real-time transmissions. To resolve these problems, we propose a SDRED (State Dependent Random Early Detection) and dynamic scheduling scheme that can improve delay and jitter performances by adjusting RED parameters such as ma $x_{th}$ and $w_{q}$ according to the queue status. The SDRED is designed to adapt to the current traffic situation by adjusting the max,$_{th}$ and $w_{q}$ to four different levels. From the simulation results, we show that the SDRED decreases packet delays in a queue and has more stable jitter characteristics than the existing RED, BLUE, ARED and DSRED schemes.mes.mes.

  • In case of an abnormal condition of control surface, the real-time estimation of aerodynamic derivatives are required for the reconfigurable control system to be flight for missions or return to the head office. The goal of this paper is to represent a technique of fault detection to the control surface as a base research to the fault tolerant control system for safety improvement of UAV. The real-time system identification for the fault detection to the control surface was applied with the recursive Fourier Transform and verified through the HILS and flight test. The failures of the control surface are detected by comparing the control derivatives in fault condition with the normal condition. As a result from the flight test, we have confirmed that the control derivatives of fault condition less than about 50% in the normal condition.

  • Recent developments in IT have made real-time ECG monitoring possible, and this represents a promising application for the emerging HL7 standard for the exchange of clinical information. However, applying the HL7 standard directly to real-time ECG monitoring causes problems, because the partial duplication of data within an HL7 message increases the amount of data to be transmitted, and the time taken to process it. We reduce these overheads by Feature Scaling, by standardizing the range of independent variables or features of data, while nevertheless generating HL7-compliant messages. We also use a De-Duplication algorithm to eliminate the partial repetition of the OBX field in an HL7 ORU message. Our strategy shortens the time required to create messages by 51%, and reduces the size of messages by 1/8, compared to naive HL7 coding.

  • 일본계란산업협회가 지난번 개최(2월 17일)한 총회에서 국제화에 대응하는 가격조정을 위해 계란생산비용의 국제비교조사를 실시하여 계란생산비와 품질에 관한 국제간의 비교우위를 검토하기로 했는데 협회가 시행하고자 하는 조사의 필요성, 방법 등에 대한 내용을 소개한다. 앞서있는 일본의 양계산업이 긴박하고 불안한 현실속에서 살아남기 위한 여러가지 방법과 수단을 펴고 있는데 이 현실은 강건너 불이 아니라 우리 발등에 붙은 뜨거운 불이기도 하다.

  • Problems and technologies involved in integrating an audio preamplifier in terms of thick film technology has been discussed in detail. In particular, an attempt has been made to find methods for functional trimming of the amplifer by employing computer analysis. Among seven resistors integrated on a alumina substrate, only one resistor was found to be very sensitive to over all performance of the preamplifier. By trimming this resistor to its freguency charcteristic reguirements, it was possible to cut down trimming labor by one seventh. Besides, problems concerning resistor conductor contacts, crossover parasitic capacitance and the relations between noise per(ormance and trimming method are discussed in detail.

  • 움직임 추정 및 보상 기법은 비디오 코딩 응용 분야에서 일반적으로 많이 사용되는 방법이나 많은 계산량으로 인하여 실시간 움직임 추정이 쉽지 않다. 본 논문에서는 낮은 비트율 비디오 코딩을 위한 전역 탐색 기법의 블록 정합 알고리즘의 복잡도를 줄이기 위하여 탐색 영역을 적응적으로 줄여주는 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 연속한 비디오 프레임에서 변위된 블록의 차이(displaced block difference)와 블록 구분 정보(block classification information) 등과 같은 상관성을 이용하여 탐색 영역의 범위를 적응적으로 조정한다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 기법이 전역 탐색 영역 기법과 비교하여 계산량에서 1/2의 계산량 이득이 있으며, 비슷한 MSE(mean square error) 성능을 가짐을 보인다.

  • 본 논문에서는 디스플레이상에서 영상 향상을 위한 다계조 콘트라스트 조절장치를 제안하였다. 제안한 방식은 추가적인 메모리를 필요하지 않고, 입력 계조 레벨에 상관없이 영상향상이 가능하다. 또한 입력 영상의 자기 정보를 고려하여 원화상의 밝기정보를 최대한 보상할 수 있으며 기존의 방식에 비해 하드웨어 구성이 간단하여 실시간 처리를 요하는 분야에 쉽게 적용 가능하고 입력되는 콘트라스 영역의 가중치 값을 사용자가 임의적으로 변화시킴으로써 콘트라스트 조정이 가능하다. 제안한 콘트라스트 조정장치는 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 검증하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과 영상 향상을 확인하였다.
