A Short-Term Traffic Information Prediction Model Using Bayesian Network (베이지안 네트워크를 이용한 단기 교통정보 예측모델)

  • Currently Telematics traffic information services have been various because we can collect real-time traffic information through Intelligent Transport System. In this paper, we proposed and implemented a short-term traffic information prediction model for giving to guarantee the traffic information with high quality in the near future. A Short-term prediction model is for forecasting traffic flows of each segment in the near future. Our prediction model gives an average speed on the each segment from 5 minutes later to 60 minutes later. We designed a Bayesian network for each segment with some casual nodes which makes an impact to the road situation in the future and found out its joint probability density function on the supposition of GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) using EM(Expectation Maximization) algorithm with training real-time traffic data. To validate the precision of our prediction model we had conducted various experiments with real-time traffic data and computed RMSE(Root Mean Square Error) between a real speed and its prediction speed. As the result, our model gave 4.5, 4.8, 5.2 as an average value of RMSE about 10, 30, 60 minutes later, respectively.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate service item to develop archived VDS(Vehicle Detecting System) data user services. Through the review of related studies and literature and investigation of the current application status of the vehicle detector data, the service item from the historical detector data were identified. The relative importance of the identified service item was measured based on the application purpose, usage and frequency of application.

  • The COSMOS is an adaptive traffic control systems that can adjust signal timing parameters in response to various traffic conditions. To evaluate the performance of the COSMOS systems, the field study is only practical option because any evaluation tools are not available. To overcome this limitation, a newly integrated interfacing simulator between a microscopic simulation program and COSMOS was developed. In this paper, a detector module and a signal timing module as well as general feature of the simulator were described. A validation test was performed to verify the accuracy of the data flow within the simulator. It was shown that the accuracy level of information from the simulator was high enough for real application. Several practical comments on further studies were also included to enhance the functional specifications of the simulator.

  • 본 논문에서는 개미 집단 최적화(Ant Colony Optimization, ACO) 알고리즘을 적용한 감속률에 따른 동적 상황인식 경로 선정 방법을 제안한다. 최근 ITS(Intelligent Transportation Systems)의 개발과 함께 차량용 내비게이션의 실시간 교통 정보를 이용하는 수요가 급증하면서, 경로탐색의 중요성이 더욱 가속화되고 있다. 현재 차량용 내비게이션은 멀티미디어 및 정보통신 기술의 결합과 함께 다양한 기능 및 정보를 사용자에게 제공하고 있으며, 이러한 경로탐색 알고리즘은 교통시스템, 통신 네트워크, 운송 시스템 등 다양한 분야에 적용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 감속률에 따른 동적 상황인식 경로 선정 방법을 제안함으로써, 최단 시간 및 최소 비용의 정보를 제공해 줄 뿐만 아니라 교통정체로 인한 사회적 비용 감소의 효과를 가져다 줄 것으로 기대한다.

  • 도로 교통 사고 및 교통 정체는 도로 상황의 비정상적인 요인으로 인해 발생하는 심각한 문제이다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 도로 상황을 실시간으로 감지하고 사용자에게 알리는 시스템이 필요하다고 판단된다. 본 연구는 도로 상황 감지 및 예방을 위한 새로운 접근 방식을 제안하며, 이에 대한 배경과 필요성, 그리고 프로젝트의 특장점을 소개한다.

  • Real-time traffic data are readily obtainable by traffic surveillance systems of intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Such data greatly support further applications in the field of traffic operations, planning, and safety. However, traffic data should be appropriately processed to fully exploit the benefits of data collection capability. Rather than developing individual data processing techniques, which is major concern of existing studies, this study proposes a novel methodology for evaluating data processing techniques in an integrated manner. Also, a tool for implementing the proposed methodology is developed. Users can extract useful and more reliable traffic data based upon their ultimate purpose of data usage by the evaluation tool developed in this study. Actual freeway traffic data are, as an example, fed into the evaluation tool, and results are discussed.

  • Recently due to the increase of cars and city life, the traffic congestion has worsened. It Is particularly worse in the center of the metropolis. Within the general public means, the public transport buses have the advantage of being more cheap, accessible and mobile. But as there is no separate lane for buses, the collision of cars and buses are creating damage to public service. In order to solve this situation, the bus priority signal system has been introduced to reduce the bus travel time and improve its services. The purpose of this study is to establish bus priority signal algorithm which builds bus efficiency under the real-time traffic signal control system and to analyze the effect of it. As the green time was calculated against real time (under the real-time traffic signal control system), compared to existing bus priority signal there was a reduction in cross street loss. The modified cycle was used to maintain signal progression. A case study was carried out using VISSIM simulation model. In result of this study, we found that there was a decrease in bus travel time despite some evidence of car delays and compared to existing bus priority signal the delay of dishonor could be reduced dramatically. The analysed result of person delay using MOE, is that there is evidence that when bus priority signal is in effect, the person delay is reduced.

Development of Real-time Traffic Signal Control Strategy for Coordinated Signalized Intersections under V2I Communication Environment (V2I 통신환경을 활용한 연동교차로 교통신호 실시간 제어 연구)

  • This study was initiated to develop an optimal signal control algorithm for coordinated signalized intersections using individual vehicle's information which can be collected in a format of prove vehicle data (PVD) via V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) communication environment. For developing this signal optimization algorithm, three modules were developed for phase group length computation, split distribution, and phase sequence assignment. The simulation analysis using the microscopic simulation model, Vissim, was conducted for evaluating the effectiveness of the developed algorithm. The analysis result represented that the performance of the developed algorithm is far superior to that of the fixed coordinated signal control method which is the most common signal control method for coordinated signalized intersections in Korea.

  • Image-based traffic information collection systems have entered widespread adoption and use in many countries since these systems are not only capable of replacing existing loop-based detectors which have limitations in management and administration, but are also capable of providing and managing a wide variety of traffic related information. In addition, these systems are expanding rapidly in terms of purpose and scope of use. Currently, the utilization of image processing technology in the field of traffic accident management is limited to installing surveillance cameras on locations where traffic accidents are expected to occur and digitalizing of recorded data. Accurately recording the sequence of situations around a traffic accident in a signal intersection and then objectively and clearly analyzing how such accident occurred is more urgent and important than anything else in resolving a traffic accident. Therefore, in this research, we intend to present a technology capable of overcoming problems in which advanced existing technologies exhibited limitations in handling real-time due to large data capacity such as object separation of vehicles and tracking, which pose difficulties due to environmental diversities and changes at a signal intersection with complex traffic situations, as pointed out by many past researches while presenting and implementing an active and environmentally adaptive methodology capable of effectively reducing false detection situations which frequently occur even with the Gaussian complex model analytical method which has been considered the best among well-known environmental obstacle reduction methods. To prove that the technology developed by this research has performance advantage over existing automatic traffic accident recording systems, a test was performed by entering image data from an actually operating crossroad online in real-time. The test results were compared with the performance of other existing technologies.

Distribution Characteristic Analysis for Link Travel Time Using GPS Data (GPS 수집자료를 이용한 링크통행시간 분포 특성 분석)

  • 지금까지의 링크통행시간에 대한 연구는 개별 차량의 평균을 통한 평균링크통행시간 산정 및 추정의 제한적인 연구가 대부분이었다. 그러나, 링크통행시간은 교통조건, 신호운영조건, 도로조건 등 다양한 영향인자로 인해 통행시간 분포가 구분되는 특성을 나타낸다. 따라서, 링크통행시간 특성을 좀 더 미시적으로 분석할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 GPS를 이용한 실시간 교통자료 수집의 방법에 대해 살펴보았으며, GPS를 이용한 RTK 측량을 이용한 실시간 자료수집을 통하여 링크통행시간에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 또한, 신호운영에 의한 영향으로 인한 링크통행시간 분포특성을 분석하기 위해 링크통행시간에 대한 현장조사를 추가적으로 실시하였다. 현장조사 결과분석을 통해 통행시간 분포특성 및 원인을 분석하고 프로그램을 이용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 보다 다양한 조건을 부여하여 링크통행시간분포비율에 영향을 주는 변수들에 대한 검토하고 통행시간 분포비율을 추정할 수 있는 모형을 구축하였다. GPS 실험차량을 이용한 주행실험결과를 분석한 결과 순행시간으로만 이루어지는 링크통행시간과 적색시간 동안 대기하였다가 링크구간을 통과하여 순행시간에 신호 대기시간을 더한 링크통행시간으로 통행시간이 구분되는 현상을 확인할 수 있었으며 따라서, 링크통행시간에 대한 분석은 통행시간을 하나의 평균통행시간으로 인식하는 것보다 두 개의 구분된 통행시간을 동시에 고려하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 판단되었다. 링크통행시간 분포특성에 대한 연구결과 또한, 통행시간이 양분되어 분포하는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서, 링크통행시간의 경우 평균통행시간에 의한 결과보다 신호지체가 발생하지 않는 통행시간과 신호지체가 발생하는 통행시간으로 구분하는 것이 교통상황을 인식하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 나타났다.
