Validity of Linear Combination Approach based on Net Damping Analysis of Cable-Damper System (케이블-댐퍼 시스템의 전체감쇠비 해석을 통한 선형조합 접근법의 유효성)

  • Existing studies have suggested Universal Curve only for supplemental damping by damper. Therefore net damping has been determined by means of arithmetic summation between intrinsic, aero-damping of cable and supplemental damping of damper. However linear combination approach by means of the arithmetic summation is not enough theoretical background. So validity of this approach should be verified in order to design adequate cable-damper system by engineers. This study establishes governing differential equation which can consider intrinsic, aero-damping and supplemental damping as well. And also analysis method is solved by combination of muller method and successive iteration method. Consequently, this study succeeds in verification for validity of linear combination approach. As a result of this study, linear combination approach is limitedly effective in case of low stiffness and optimum damping coefficient of damper, short distance from support to damper, lower vibration mode, low aero-damping, and normal windy environment. Whereas this study will be effective in case of opposite conditions, and existing studies or linear combination approach occur to further error. Meaning of this study presents exact solution for net damping of cable-damper system, and verifies linear combination approach by means of the analysis method. In the future, if monitoring of optimum damping coefficient of a damper against aero-damping is feasible on time, algorithm of this study will be available for control of cable and semi-active damper system such as magneto-rheological damper.

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, manufacturing is the implementation of smart factories through digital transformation, and refers to consumer-centered intelligent factories that combine next-generation digital new technologies and manufacturing technologies beyond the existing factory automation level. In order to successfully settle such a smart factory, it is necessary to train professionals. However, education for smart factories is difficult to have actual field mechanical facilities or overall production processes. Therefore, there is a need for a system that can visualize and control the flow and process of logistics at the actual production site. In this paper, the logistics flow of the actual site was implemented as a small FMS, a physical system, and the production process was implemented as a digital system. In real-time synchronization of the physical system and the digital system, the location of AGV and materials, and the process state can be monitored to see the flow of logistics and process processes at the actual manufacturing site. The developed digital twin system can be used as an effective educational system for training manpower in smart factories.

Effect of Acid Treatment on Pd/C Catalysts for Improving Selective Hydrogenation of Phenol (페놀의 선택적 수소화 반응성 향상을 위한 Pd/C 촉매의 산 처리 효과)

  • Carbon has a large specific area and excellent chemical stability, so research on its use as a catalyst support is actively conducted. When using carbon as a support, the pretreatment process is essential. Through pretreatment of carbon, the growth of metal nanoparticles can be controlled and the bonding strength between the support and metal particles can be improved. In this study, carbon was pretreated for surface modification and 5 wt% Pd/C catalysts were synthesized using it as a support. Catalytic activity was evaluated through phenol hydrogenation. To compare with nitric acid, which is commonly used in carbon pretreatment, carbon pretreatment was performed using organic acid. Pd/C treated with gluconic acid showed the highest activity, with 94.93% phenol conversion and 92.76% cyclohexanone selectivity. Therefore, it is expected that pretreatment of the carbon support using organic acid will not only overcome the disadvantages of inorganic acid treatment but also improve catalyst performance.

  • Recently, agricultural methods are changing from experience-based agriculture to data-based agriculture. Changes in agricultural production due to the 4th Industrial Revolution are largely occurring in three areas: smart sensing and monitoring, smart analysis and planning, and smart control. In order to realize open-field smart agriculture, information on the physical and chemical properties of soil is essential. Conventional physicochemical measurements are conducted in a laboratory after collecting samples, which consumes a lot of cost, labor, and time, so they are quickly measured in the field. Measurement technology that can do this is urgently needed. In addition, a soil analysis system that can be carried and moved by the measurer and used in Korea's rice fields, fields, and facility houses is needed. To solve this problem, our goal is to develop and commercialize software that can collect soil samples and analyze the information. In this study, basic soil composition measurement was conducted using soil composition measurement sensors consisting of hardness measurement and electrode sensors. Through future research, we plan to develop a system that applies soil sampling using a CCD camera, ultrasonic sensor, and sampler. Therefore, we implemented a sensor and soil analysis UI that can measure and analyze the soil condition in real time, such as hardness measurement display using a load cell and moisture, PH, and EC measurement display using conductivity.

Pulpitis pain relief by modulating sodium channels in trigeminal ganglia (삼차신경절의 나트륨 채널 조절을 통한 치수염 통증 완화 효과)

  • Objectives: The pulp is the center of the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels. The condition in which the pulp becomes inflamed due to caries or periodontitis is called pulpitis. Pulpitis is a difficult-to-treat disease and causes peripheral nerve tissue changes and severe pain; however, the relationship between neuronal activity and voltage-gated sodium channel 1.7 (Nav1.7) expression in the trigeminal ganglion (TG) during pulpitis has not been well studied. In this study, we found that experimentally induced pulpitis activates Nav1.7 expression in the periphery, leading to neuronal overexpression in the TG. Thus, we sought to identify ways to regulate this process. Methods: Acute pulpitis was induced in rat maxillary molars by treating the pulp with allyl isothiocyanate (AITC). Three days later, in vivo optical imaging was used to record and compare neural activities in the TG. Western blotting was used to identify molecular changes in terms of the expression of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), c-Fos, transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), and collapsin response mediator protein-2 (CRMP2) in the brain stem. Results: The results confirmed the neurological changes in the TGs of the pulpitis model, and histological and molecular biological evidence confirmed that increased Nav1.7 expression induced by pulpitis leads to pain. Furthermore, selective inhibition of Nav1.7 resulted in changes in neural activity, suggesting that pulpitis induces increased Nav1.7 expression, and that effective control of Nav1.7 could potentially reduce pain. Conclusions: The inhibition of overexpressed Nav1.7 channels may modulate nociceptive signal processing in the brain and effectively control pain associated with pulpitis.

  • The study begin with a basic concept, if the occupancy length of vehicle detector is directly proportional to the delay of vehicle. That is, it analogize vehicle's delay of a occupancy time. The results of a study was far superior in the estimation of a queue length. It is a very good points the operator is not necessary to optimize s1, s2, Thdoc. Thdoc(critical congestion degree) replaced 0.7 with 0.2 - 0.3. But, if vehicles have been experience in delay was not occupy vehicle detector, the study is in existence some problems. In conclusion, it is necessary that stretch queue detector or install paired queue detector. Also I want to be made steady progress a following study relation to this study, because it is required traffic signal control on congestion.

NUI/NUX of the Virtual Monitor Concept using the Concentration Indicator and the User's Physical Features (사용자의 신체적 특징과 뇌파 집중 지수를 이용한 가상 모니터 개념의 NUI/NUX)

  • As growing interest in Human-Computer Interaction(HCI), research on HCI has been actively conducted. Also with that, research on Natural User Interface/Natural User eXperience(NUI/NUX) that uses user's gesture and voice has been actively conducted. In case of NUI/NUX, it needs recognition algorithm such as gesture recognition or voice recognition. However these recognition algorithms have weakness because their implementation is complex and a lot of time are needed in training because they have to go through steps including preprocessing, normalization, feature extraction. Recently, Kinect is launched by Microsoft as NUI/NUX development tool which attracts people's attention, and studies using Kinect has been conducted. The authors of this paper implemented hand-mouse interface with outstanding intuitiveness using the physical features of a user in a previous study. However, there are weaknesses such as unnatural movement of mouse and low accuracy of mouse functions. In this study, we designed and implemented a hand mouse interface which introduce a new concept called 'Virtual monitor' extracting user's physical features through Kinect in real-time. Virtual monitor means virtual space that can be controlled by hand mouse. It is possible that the coordinate on virtual monitor is accurately mapped onto the coordinate on real monitor. Hand-mouse interface based on virtual monitor concept maintains outstanding intuitiveness that is strength of the previous study and enhance accuracy of mouse functions. Further, we increased accuracy of the interface by recognizing user's unnecessary actions using his concentration indicator from his encephalogram(EEG) data. In order to evaluate intuitiveness and accuracy of the interface, we experimented it for 50 people from 10s to 50s. As the result of intuitiveness experiment, 84% of subjects learned how to use it within 1 minute. Also, as the result of accuracy experiment, accuracy of mouse functions (drag(80.4%), click(80%), double-click(76.7%)) is shown. The intuitiveness and accuracy of the proposed hand-mouse interface is checked through experiment, this is expected to be a good example of the interface for controlling the system by hand in the future.

Effects of aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatments on fruit quality attributes in cold-stored 'Jonathan' apples (수확 후 aminoethoxyvinylglycine(AVG)와 1-methylcyclopropene(1-MCP) 처리가 '홍옥' 사과의 저온저장 중 과실품질에 미치는 영향)

  • 'Jonathan' apples are relatively small size which contributes to enhancing fruit consumption and gaining popularity. Thus, this study was carried out to evaluate the effects of AVG (aminoethoxyvinylglycine, ReTain$^{(R)}$), sprayable 1-MCP (1-methylcyclopropene, Harvista$^{TM}$), and fumigation 1-MCP (SmartFresh$^{TM}$) applications on fruit quality attributes and storability in 'Jonathan' apple fruits during cold-stored. The Jonathan fruits were dipped with either ReTain (75 mg/L) or Harvista (125 mg/L) solutions for 5 min, or fumigated with SmartFresh (1 mg/L) for 18 hr before storage at $0{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ for 75 days. Flesh firmness and titratable acidity remained higher in all pre-treated apples than control ones during cold storage period. Flesh firmness was higher for apples treated with ReTain and SmartFresh than samples treated with Harvista, while soluble solid content and respiration rate were not affected by sample pretreatment. Internal ethylene concentration (IEC) of all pretreated apples remained below about $4.5{\mu}L/L$ during the entire storage period while that of control sample greatly increased to $10.29{\mu}L/L$. Ethylene production was much higher in control fruits than in treated ones during cold storage. These results indicated that ReTain and 1-MCP treatments would be considerably effective in retention of fruit quality attributes of 'Jonathan' apple during cold-stored.

  • The global impact of climate change on agriculture is now increasing. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of climate change on livestock productivity. The variables that have the greatest influence on climate change factors were examined through previous studies and expert surveys. We also used the actual productivity data of livestock farmers to investigate the relationship with climate change. In order to evaluate the climate for changes in livestock productivity, national representative data (such as bullocks, dairy, pigs, laying hens, and broilers) were surveyed in Korea. Also, to select and classify evaluation indexes, we selected climate change factor variables as prior studies and studied the weighting factor of climate variable factors. In this study, the researchers of industry, academia, and farmers in the livestock sector conducted questionnaires on the indicators of vulnerability to climate change using experts, and then weighed the selected indicators using the hierarchical analysis process (AHP). In order to verify the validity of the evaluation index, was examined using domestic climate data (temperature, precipitation, humidity, etc.). Correlation and regression analysis were performed. The empirical relationship between climate change and livestock productivity was examined through this study. As a result, we used data with high reliability of statistical analysis and found that there are significant variables.

  • The telemetry system for the oxygen, pH, turbidity and the distribution ecology of fishes was constructed by the authors in order to product and manage effectively in shallow sea culture and setnets fisheries, and then the experiments for the telemetry system carried out at the culturing fishing ground in coast of Sanyang-Myon, Kyoungsangnam-Do and the set net fishing ground located Nungpo bay in Kojedo province respectively from October, 1997 to June 1998.As those results, the techniques suggested in the telemetry system for which find out the relationship between the physical and chemical environment in the sea and the distribution ecology of fishes gave full display its function, and its system could be operated as real time system. This research can also provide base-line data to develope a hybrid system unifying the marine environment information and the fisheries resources information in order to manage effectively coastal fishing ground.
