Learning System of Programming Language using Basic Algorithms (기초 알고리즘을 활용한 프로그래밍 언어 학습 시스템)

  • The curriculum of programming education including algorithm has been recognized as a very important subject to many students majoring in natural sciences and engineering including electronic engineering and computer related departments. However, many students have had difficulties with it due to its characteristics; as a consequence, they have been in trouble taking upper-level subjects. Flow chart is a diagram that expresses logical stages necessary to solve certain problems and has been widely used to have an understanding of the flow of algorithm. The practice-oriented education of algorithm and programming would be very important to assist the understanding of operation processes. Furthermore, it has been desperately required to the necessity of auxiliary programs that could enhance an understanding of the concept of algorithm and program execution process. This study was aimed to design and embody the learning system of programming languages using basic algorithms so as for students to easily learn basic algorithm among the entire programming curriculum.

Effect of Human Patient Simulator-based Education on Self-directed Learning and Collective Efficacy (환자시뮬레이터활용교육에서의 자기주도적 학습능력과 집단효능감의 변화)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of human patient simulator(HPS)-based education on self-directed learning(SDL) and collective efficacy(CE) for nursing students. This study design was one group pre-posttest. The subjects were 2nd grade 92 students enrolling in the integrated practice. They have no previous experience of HPS-based education. HPS-based education included team based learning, skill training, taking a high-fidelity simulation with Medical Education Technologies, Inc (METI) simulator and being debriefed during 12 weeks. The pretest and posttest were conducted to understand the improvement in SDL and CE. After the subjects had participated in the HPS-based education, they showed statistically significant higher SDL(t=4.24, p=0.000) than before. However, there was no significant change in CE. Based on the results, this study suggests that SDL for nursing students were significantly improved by HPS-base education.

  • Teaching methods should focus on enabling the students to adopt an open mind towards new experiences and to be flexible to change. Moreover, their purpose lies in encouraging the students to build their ability to discern values so that they can make the right decisions when they are at a crossroad. However, traditional teaching methods were centered on textbooks and on the teachers. This type of teaching method needs to change so that the new teaching method will focus on the students themselves, taking levels of individual students into consideration to enable development of their creativity in line with the demands made during the 21st century, an era of information and globalization. Projected learning method is appropriate for the Physical Education (PE) classes where various activities aim to increase the level of cooperation among students and their investigative skills. Moreover, PE classes pay special attention to the practical aspect. Accordingly, this research makes recommendations for the class execution methods based on projected learning by improving the curriculum for the PE classes, and the effect of these methods are subject to verification.

Pedagogy of E-Learning in Engineering Classes Using Multimedia Contents: Case of K University (멀티미디어 콘텐츠 기반의 공과대학 이러닝 교수법 연구: K대학 사례)

  • Whether the engineering department of universities employs ideal usage of e-learning or not needs to be investigated as many engineering departments diversify the use of the e-learning elements for educational purpose. Applying the teaching and learning methods and characteristics would lead to better strategies which are applied to development of contents and deployment of the e-learning courses. This study examines the characteristics and approaches of the usage of e-learning elements used by some instructors who use multimedia contents in offline teaching and learning environment. The results of this study shows that the e-learning elements assist the face-to-face course and the interactions are manifested in the classroom rather than in online setting. Lecture, hands-on-practice, simulation, and PBL(Problem-based learning) are turned out to be the major teaching and learning methods. This study signifies the need for use of various teaching and learning methods by the instructors and provision of PBL environment.

A Study on the EPL using Instructional Model of SW Major's Programming Class (EPL 기반의 SW전공자를 위한 프로그래밍 수업 모형에 관한 연구)

  • Although programming language is a core education area of software that is becoming increasingly important in the age of the fourth industrial revolution, as it requires logical thinking skills, it is recognized as a difficult subject even for SW major students. This difficulty occasionally causes SW major students to lose interest and confidence in their major during the introductory course of a programming language; making them change their majors, or give up their studies. In this study, we designed an instructional model using Scratch for educating C language which is a typical programming introductory language. To do this, we analyzed the concepts that can be trained by Scratch among the programming concepts supported by C language, and developed the examples of Scratch for exercising the concepts. The instructional model supports the progress model of learning first the programming concepts through Scratch and then expand the learning content into C language. We also conducted an experiment on the SW major freshman students of a local private university to verify the effectiveness of the model.

A Study on effect of educational satisfaction on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment among new Police officers (신임경찰 교육만족도가 직무만족과 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze how the new police education will affect job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Based on the Central Police Academy, the new policemen(288th newly appointed officers) were surveyed as a survey of educational satisfaction(education, curriculum, teaching facilities, teaching facilities), and awareness of job satisfaction and organizational commitment. The results are summarized as follows. First, Educational satisfaction has shown that there is a static correlation between job satisfaction and organizational involvement. Second, the teaching ability has a significant effect on all the factors contributing to job satisfaction, in relation to the effect of the educational satisfaction on job satisfaction. Third, in relation to the effect of the educational satisfaction on organizational commitment, the teaching ability has had a significant effect on all the factors involved in organizational involvement, and education courses and educational facilities have shown significant effects on continuance commitment among organizational commitment. These results suggest that education for working subjects should be conducted in a more case-oriented instruction, and the practice of on-the-job training is required to ensure practical hands-on learning.

Research on Adoption and Preference of 5G using Learning Service (5G 교육 서비스의 채택과 선호에 관한 연구: 대학생을 중심으로)

  • This study commercialization of 5G will enable transformation of university education. This study identifies five attributes (device type, learning place, learning content, learning field and expense payment) and corresponding levels to study the impact of 5G in the future of university education. The attributes and the levels are then combined into few 5G education service alternatives for respondents to rank. 102 students ranked the alternatives based on their preferences and intent to use. Results indicate that the intent to use 5G-based education service was high with 86% and the most important factor was expense payment (37%), followed by learning field (26%), learning content (24%), device type (8%) and learning place (5%). Specifically, students preferred smart device, practical and experiential content, ubiquitous (no limitation of space and time) learning, practical education and free rate when adopting 5G-based education service. These will provide implications to accelerate adoption of and exploitation of 5G for innovating university education.

Application Plan of Flip Learning Using Practical Instruction in Algorithm Theory (알고리즘 이론과목에서 실기수업을 적용한 플립러닝 활용방안)

  • Recently, the rapid development and development of the industrial environment has changed the talent that companies need. As the educational paradigm changes, the university education should complement the problems of the lecture education method (the existing knowledge transfer method) in order to cultivate the talents needed for the corporation. In order to improve self - directed and creative problem - solving ability, new teaching and learning methods are needed. In this study, we apply flip learning in the algorithm class which is an essential curriculum of computer engineering. This group is divided into groups that are combined with theoretical and practical lessons, and groups that have applied theoretical lessons by applying flip learning, and groups that employ traditional lecture techniques. To improve learner's learning motivation and academic achievement, we propose a flip learning teaching method suitable for the algorithm subject and apply it directly to the class. Based on the results, we compare and analyze the academic achievement and learning satisfaction of learners.

  • The purposes of this study are to compare and analyze archival curriculums in Korea and the United States in aspects of specializations, changes, relationships between archival science and library and information science, numbers of the courses and their proportions, and to suggest a future direction of the revised archival curriculum. Archival Science in Korea needs to prepare a more systematic and firm foundation by opening commonly required or prerequisite courses according to each component of the archival body of knowledge. Based upon the reinforcement of the methods of using information technology in integrated environment and development of critical thinking skills, the effectiveness of archival management should be approached in curriculum. And strengthening of research skill through providing of systematic practicum and internship, seminar, workshops and writing thesis will prepare problem solving skills in complicated archival work.

Computer Education System using Simulation (가상체험을 이용한 컴퓨터 학습 시스템)

  • We live in the information technology era and experience the rapid global information environment change through Internet. Therefore, as distribution channels and service qualities in our daily lives are provided through Internet, these changes have been the foundation of constructing a new society. Naturally, the use of computer is widely spread out and it is hard to find any company that doesn't use computer in its work. However, the computer skills of those who are in their fifties cannot reach to what the companies need for them even though they are main working groups in our society. In addition, the Internet access rate of homemakers in their late forties and over fifties are low due to their lack of computer knowledge even though they are the target customers of the Internet service. Under these circumstances, we offer a lecture using simulation techniqe through which anybody can easily follow the instructions via the "Help" menu not a boring lecture that just show the text and reads it. Besides, each class will show you how to start Internet/ how to finish it, how to register a website, how to use e-mail, etc. So, it will let you know every detailed aspect that average people may disregard but a beginner may be afraid of starting the Internet.
