  • The radio propagation characteristics of the 6, 10, and 17 GHz frequency bands in multiple paths in an indoor lobby environment were analyzed. The line-of-sight (LOS) and non-LOS (NLOS) paths were measured from a distance of 2-16 m (0.5 m intervals) from the transmitting to the receiving antenna positions. For basic transmission losses, three parameters were compared using the floating intercept path loss model corresponding to the path. For a root mean square delay spread, the measurement results were compared for cumulative probabilities of 10, 50, and 90%. Propagation loss and propagation delay occurred in all measured frequencies owing to the existence of pillars and an unusual lobby structure. Thus, a measurement scenario for an indoor lobby environment and the provision of standard measurement data was proposed. The results may facilitate research on the radio propagation characteristics of 5G and millimeter-wave bands in indoor lobby environments with various structures.

  • The design of space, which focuses on human senses and perception, has become more prominent. It can be understood as the space needed for a field of experience. Phenomenological attitude focuses on the relations between human in the context of their environment. The experiences generated were used as a method of design. The method guides a formation of active space through phenomenological experience in interior space as well as architecture. To stimulate a phenomenological sensitive experience, the parameters for certain experiences were connected to the five senses, finally creating a concrete space. Water, light, air, vapor, and earth as architectural media are connected to the five senses and lead to intermediation from abstract to actual. In particular, water is deeply rooted in peoples subconsciousness and stimulates our instincts. Using water by effectively combining its symbols and physical characteristics will be a method to reinforce the experience with a given space. This study will examine the need for space experience and characteristics of water as an essential elements for perception experience and present possible experimental design.

  • Avoiding the unified productivity that was caused by the mechanical and technical development due to Industrial Revolution in the past, modern design is incessantly evolving in search of new motive, namely, diversity. Further, we live in the age when the propensity that serves public interest and purpose and sometimes shows quite individual character should be considered. As a result, the comprehensive and harmonious trend of emotional design is being highlighted more remarkably. Involving the social background that further respects human dignity, this is closely related to diverse issues such as human right which should be guaranteed and pursued for individual. While the tradition and innovation caused by the encounter of machine and art had confrontation and conflict in the past, the direction has changed to incessant evolution and interaction where paradigm of technical progress and development is newly composed and changed in modern times. The meaning of service in medical area is expanding and developing from the simple treatment to the more comprehensive healing. Medical space will evolve to the healing space that attaches importance to emotional aspect of human dimension which further understands and respects human being in the future.

  • In the 1950’s, after modernistic hospital is begun to build in our country, there were much changes in hospital construction plan such as function, scale, operation, technology for 40 years so far. Interest about 'Healing environment furtherance' which is one of basic function of hospital within these change is continued. Specially, concept about furtherance of healing environment limited in ward department in the early time is applied to hospital space magnificently whole coming at present. Entrance of hospital and change of Lobby may speak as the representative example. This interest about practically use of lobby is rising gradually. Lobby adds to existed concept of space to the importance revaluated. The first purpose of this study is to investigates main entrance and lobby of representative hospital in our country and to search change and present condition. The second purpose is hereupon to present necessary objective standard with direction of lobby plan in general hospital forward though this.

  • According to office building design in Korea, building exterior and office automatic systems through introducing IB system have been improved. However, the lower floors of a building are functionally easy to transfer but actually functions as an enterance. Although at takes a large investment by the owner or enterprise, mainly the tenants and neighbors are in a broad sense the actual users. In this point of view, the lobby of an office bulidling which is the connection between the exterior as a public space and the interior as a private area, does not only have the function of an enterance but also has to be an image of the enterprise or the building itself. Therefor the lobby must contain various functions of space.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest designing goals and directions in the lobby area of obstetric hospitals by constructing a space evaluation structure model, which is made by image evaluation structure model used by SD method and Advanced Repertory Grid Technique. As a result of the image evaluation used by SD method, it turned out 4 factors which are related to recognizing and evaluating the space formativeness, openness, decorativeness, sensitiveness. I found out the relationship between space evaluation structure and the element of interior space. I also suggested detailed designing method based on this relationship. Space evaluation structure model can be applied to designing lobby areas of obstetric hospitals to reconstruct more specific and objective designing goals and standards rather simply designer's sensitive and abstract designing approach.

  • Because of the industrialization, the number of acquired handicapped people and chronic disable people is increasing. This phenomenon takes an increasing interest in the interior and environment of a lobby at the rehabilitation's hospitals. This study represents the basic information of an efficient use of spaces in the rehabilitation's hospitals through a research into the characteristics of universal designs in the rehabilitation's hospital lobbies from six hospitals which are located in Seoul and Kyung-gi area. According to the study result, although the handicapped people are accessible to the lobbies, the considerations of the hospital's facilities and their abilities are still insufficient.

  • The interest in natural environment as a new living culture is turning to the programs that give us direct experience rather than indirect one. This change demands new sort of analysis on space in order to design hotel lobby space which satisfies contemporarians' emotion. Hereupon, this article has its purpose of studying the characteristics of environment-friendly expression as a means to approach to the space design of hotel lobby space in which men and nature can coexist and men can be richer in their emotion. Moreover, through the flow and types of environment-friendly design, this study intends to emphasize the importance of introducing natural factors and suggest the possibility of diversification in environment-friendly expression.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the design trend of the vertical garden design in the indoor space through the examples of green wall in the lobby space. For the analysis, this study looks into the 'Guide for the Building Greening System' to understand the technical consideration for the green wall. After that, the key design elements was drawn from existing green walls through the literature review and field survey and field-survey. The study picked six green walls which was completed after 2000 in the lobby space in Seoul. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, the design factors mainly depend on the plant selection, which leads to the outlook and texture of the vertical walls. The texture is expressed by the two-dimensional or three-dimensional planting methods which is related to the selection of plant species. Second, the vertical walls in the lobby area should be planned for the function of space which could be transition, human traffic, mood and attraction. Third, the vertical wall should be integrated with the surroundings in order to reinforces the dynamic or static space experience.
