A Compact CPW-fed Antenna for 2.4 GHz WLAN applications (2.4 GHz 무선랜 대역용 CPW 소형 안테나)

  • In this paper, a compact CPW-fed antenna for 2.45 GHz band WLAN applications is presented. The proposed antenna which has a geometry of folded stub and slot is fabricated into an inexpensive FR-4 substrate that has a dielectric constant of 4.2 and a thickness of 1.0 mm with optimized parameters obtained by simulation, and then measured. From measured result, we confirmed available operation as antenna for WLAN applications by obtaining the return loss level of < -10 dB in the frequency band of 2.4-2.484 GHz.

  • In recent, the innovative improvement of a internet and computing environment make users desire the capability of processing information in real time. In this paper we implement a PC-to-PC real time multi-user communication system on the internet environment using the efficient algorithm for a real time processing and the MFEG-4 CELP codec which can be used for a low bit-rate coding from 6 to 24kbps. The implemented system produces a compressed bit-streams with the MPEG-4 CEU Mode-I 18200bps mode. There is 5 frames for a package and 1 frame has 160 samples. We can use this system to communicate with 4 users simultaneously in real time. The system is designed and examined on the Windows operating system.

Transmission Performance of 960 Gbps WDM Signals Depends on Dispersion Compensation Configurations (분산 보상 구조에 따른 960 Gbps WDM 신호의 전송 성능)

  • An investigation has been carried out, by computer simulation, to evaluate the impact of dispersion compensation configurations on 960 Gbps wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) system with optical phase conjugator (OPC). The considered dispersion compensation configurations in this research are conventional one-end type and bi-end type. One-end and bi-end type are made by using one dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) and two DCFs to decrease dispersion accumulated in one single mode fiber (SMF) span, respectively. It is found that bi-end compensation configuration offers the equal performance with that of one-end configuration in WDM system with residual dispersion per span (RDPS) of 400 ps/nm if net residual dispersion (NRD) had to be optimized in each cases.

  • To enable the efficient use of energy, the environment where unscheduled receivers can harvest energy from the transmitted signal is considered in next-generation wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose a scheme for allocating subchannel and power to maximize the system throughput and harvested energy simultaneously using optimization techniques. Through simulations, we verify that the proposed scheme can increase the system throughput and harvested energy harmoniously. In particular, the proposed scheme improves the harvested energy remarkably with a negligible degradation of system throughput, compared with conventional scheme, as a result, energy can be used efficiently in the system.

  • 320km optical transmission link for 128 channel DWDM (dense wavelength-division-multiplexing) signals is simulated and fabricated. An optical fiber amplifier for the link is composed of a distributed Raman amplifier and dual C/L-band EDFAs which are optimized for the performances of an optical amplifier obtained from the simulation. Gain and NF of the optimized EDFAs are above 19dB and below 7.5dB, respectively. The resultant OSNRs (optical signal to noise ratios) of the link are average 25dB on each band.

  • The most costly and time-consuming process in the fabrication of today's multi-layer circuit board is drilling interconnection holes between adjacent layers and via holes within a layer. Decreasing size of via holes being demanded and growing number of via holes per panel increase drilling costs. Component density and electronic functionality of today's multi-layer circuit boards can be improved with the introduction of cost-effective, variable depth laser drilled blind micro via holes, and interconnection holes. Laser technology is being quickly adopted into the circuit board industry but can be accelerated with the introduction of a true production laser drilling system. In order to get optimized condition for drilling to FPCB (Flexible Printed Circuit Board), we use various drill pattern as drill step. For productivity, we investigate drill path optimization method. And for the precise drilling the thermal drift of scanner and temperature change of scan system are tested.

  • One step thermal potassium ion exchange process was carried out to form optical channel waveguides in an ErNb co-doped phosphate glass. Flowing oxygen gas into KN03 melt during ion exchange was effective to prevent glass surface damage that causes an increase of waveguide propagation loss. Amplification characteristics of the waveguides were evaluated at $1.5{\mu}m$ signal wavelength with 980 om laser diode pump. A 45 mm long waveguide whose processing parameters had been optimized exhibited a small signal net gain of 7.5 dB at the launched pump power of 160 mW.160 mW.

Density Profile Evaluation of Needle-punched Carbon/Carbon Composites Nozzle Throat by the Computed Tomography (전산화 단층촬영에 의한 니들펀칭 탄소/탄소 복합재료 노즐 목삽입재의 밀도 분포 평가)

  • In this study, the non-destructive computed tomography was adopted to observe the density profile of the needle-punched Carbon/Carbon(C/C) composites nozzle throat. The density profile of C/C was evaluated within ${\pm}0.01g/cm^3$ with 98.74% confidence when the correction of the image and high signal-to-noise ratio were achieved by the optimization of the beam hardening, the electrical noise and the scattered X-ray. The density variation of C/C with the computed tomography was in good agreement with the results obtained by the water immersion method and the observation with scanning electron microscope.

Robust and Optimum Weighted Stacking of Seismic Data (탄성파 자료의 강인한 최적 가중 겹쌓기)

  • Stacking in seismic processing plays an important role in improving signal-to-noise ratio and imaging quality of seismic data. However, the conventional stacking method doesn't remove random noises with various distributions and outliers up to a satisfactory level. This paper introduces a robust and optimum weighted stack method which shows both robustness to outlier noises and optimum in removing random noises. This was achieved by combining the robust median stacking with the optimum weighted stacking using local correlation. Application of the method to synthetic data showed that the proposed method is very effective in suppressing random noises with various distributions including outliers.

  • 본 연구에서는 Texas Instruments 사의 저가형 부동소수점 디지털 신호 처리기 (Digital Singnal Processor, DSP)인 TMS320C32를 이용하여 실시간 화자종속 음성인식 하 드웨어 모듈(VR32)을 개발하였다. 하드웨어 모듈의 구성은 40MHz의 TMS320C32 DSP, 14bit 코덱인 TLC32044(또는 8bit μ-law PCM 코덱), EPROM과 SRAM 등의 메모리와 호 스트 인터페이스를 위한 로직 회로로 이루어졌다. 뿐만 아니라 이 하드웨어 모듈을 PC사에 서 평가해보기 위한 PC 인터페이스용 보드 및 소프트웨어도 개발하였다. 음성인식 알고리 즘의 구성은 에너지와 ZCR을 기반으로 한 끝점검출(Endpoint Detection) 침 10차 가중 LPC 켑스터럼(Weighted LPC Cepstrum) 분석이 실시간으로 이루어지며 이후 Dynamic Time Warping(DTW)를 통하여 최고 유사 단어를 결정하고 다시 검증과정을 거쳐 최종 인식을 수행한다. 끝점검출의 경우 적응 문턱값(Adaptive threshold)을 이용하여 잡음에 강인한 끝 점검출이 가능하며 DTW 알고리즘의 경우 C 및 어셈블리를 이용한 최적화를 통하여 계산 속도를 대폭 개선하였다. 현재 인식률은 일반 사무실 환경에서 통상 단축다이얼 용도로 사 용할 수 있는 30 단어에 대하여 95% 이상으로 매우 높은 편이며, 특히 배경음악이나 자동 차 소음과 같은 잡음환경에서도 잘 동작한다.
