Delay Fault Test Pattern Generator Using Indirect Implication Algorithms in Scan Environment (스캔 환경에서 간접 유추 알고리즘을 이용한 경로 지연 고장 검사 입력 생성기)

  • The more complex and large digital circuits become, the more important delay test becomes which guarantees that circuits operate in time. In this paper, the proposed algorithm is developed, which enable the fast indirect implication for efficient test pattern generation in sequential circuits of standard scan environment. Static learning algorithm enables application of a new implication value using contrapositive proposition. The static learning procedure found structurally, analyzes the gate structure in the preprocessing phase and store the information of learning occurrence so that it can be used in the test pattern generation procedure if it satisfies the implication condition. If there exists a signal line which include all paths from some particular primary inputs, it is a partitioning point. If paths passing that point have the same partial path from primary input to the signal or from the signal to primary output, they will need the same primary input values which separated by the partitioning point. In this paper test pattern generation can be more effective by using this partitioning technique. Finally, an efficient delay fault test pattern generator using indirect implication is developed and the effectiveness of these algorithms is demonstrated by experiments.

Feasibility of Massive Device-to-Device Communications in Cellular Networks (셀룰러 네트워크에서의 대규모 D2D 통신의 실현 가능성 연구)

  • Device-to-device (D2D) communication is expected to offer local area services with low transmit power and short link distance, even not via any infrastructures. These advantages will lead to the deployment of D2D systems in a massive scale, where the order of magnitude of D2D user density is higher than that of cellular user density. Network-assisted D2D systems, where D2D resources are managed by cellular networks, are unable to support the large number of D2D devices, due to the signaling overhead for control signals. In this case, no coordination can be an answer. This paper considers uncoordinated D2D systems, which is implemented with a number of D2D devices in a large scale. By analyzing the transmission capacity of D2D systems, we found a feasibility condition under which the uncoordinated D2D communications possibly coexist within cellular networks, sharing the uplink spectrum. In addition, we provide guidelines for the operational points of massive D2D communications, giving some knowledge about proper transmit power level and link distance of uncoordinated D2D.

System Design and Evaluation of Digital Retrodirective Array Antenna for High Speed Tracking Performance (고속 추적 특성을 위한 디지털 역지향성 배열 안테나 시스템 설계와 특성 평가)

  • The retrodirective array antenna system is operated faster than existing techniques of beamforming due to its less complexity. Therefore, it is effective for beam tracking in the environment of fast vehicle. On the other hand, it also has difficulty in estimating AOA according to multipath environment or multiuser signals. To improve the certainty of estimating AOA), this article proposes hybrid digital retrodirective array antenna systme combined with MUSIC algorithm. In this paper, the digital retrodirective array antenna system is designed according to the number of antenna array by using only one digital PLL which finds angle of delayed phase. And we evaluate the performance of the digital retrodirective array antenna for the high speed tracking application. Performance is studied by simulink when the speed of mobile is 300km/h and the distance between transmitter and receiver is 100m and then we have to confirm the performance of the system in multi path environment. As a result, the mean of AOA (Angle Of Arrival) error is $4.2^{\circ}$ when SNR is 10dB and it is $1.3^{\circ}$ when SNR is 20dB. Consequently, the digital RDA shows very good performance for high speed tracking due to the simple calculation and realization.

  • The water level control system of the steam generator in a pressurized water reactor and its control problems are analysed. In this work the stable control strategy during the low power operation and transient states is studied. To solve the problem, a fuzzy logic control method is applied as a basic algorithm of the controller. The control algorithm is based on the operator's knowledges and the experiences of manual operation for water level control at the compact nuclear simulator set up in Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. From a viewpoint of the system realization, the control variables and rules are established considering simpler tuning and the input-output relation. The control strategy includes the dynamic tuning method and employs a substitutional information using the bypass valve opening instead of incorrectly measured signal at the low flow rate as the fuzzy variable of the flow rate during the pressure control mode of the steam generator. It also involves the switching algorithm between the control valves to suppress the perturbation of water level. The simulation results show that both of the fine control action at the small level error and the quick response at the large level error can be obtained and that the performance of the controller is improved.

  • There are many tasks which require robotic manipulators interaction with environment. It consists of three control problems, i.e., position control, impact control and force control. The position control means the way of reaching to the environment. The moment of touching to the environment yields the impact control problem and the force control is to maintain the desired force trajectory after the impact with the environment. These three control problems occur in sequence, so each control algorithm can be developed independently. Especially for redundant manipulators, each of these three control problems has been important independent research topic. For example, joint torque minimization and impulse minimization are typical techniques for such control problems. The three control problems are considered as a single task in this paper. The position control strategy is developed to improve the performance of the task, i.e., minimization of the individual joint torques and impulse. Therefore, initial conditions of the impact control problem are optimized at the previous position control algorithm. Such a control strategy yields improved result of the impact control. Similarly, the initial conditions for the force control problem are indirectly optimized by the previous position control and impact control strategies. The force control algorithm uses the individual joint torque minimization concept. It also minimizes the force disturbances. The simulation results show the proposed control strategy works well.

  • Radioiodide transport has been extensively and successfully used in the evaluation and management of thyroid disease. The molecular characterization of the sodium/iodide symporter (NIS) and cloning of the NIS gene has led to the recent expansion of the use of radioiodide to cancers of the breast and other nonthyroidal tissues exogenously transduced with the NIS gene. More recently, discoveries regarding the functional analysis and regulatory processes of the NIS molecule are opening up exciting opportunities for new research and applications for NIS and radio iodide. The success of NIS based cancer therapy is dependent on achievement of maximal radioiodide transport sufficient to allow delivery of effective radiation doses. This in turn relies on high transcription rates of the NIS gene. However, newer discoveries indicate that nontranscriptional processes that regulate NIS trafficking to cell membrane are also critical determinants of radioiodide uptake. In this review, molecular mechanisms that underlie regulation of NIS transcription and stimuli that augment membrane trafficking and functional activation of NIS molecules will be discussed. A better understanding of how the expression and cell surface targeting of NIS proteins is controlled will hopefully aid in optimizing NIS gene based cancer treatment as well as NIS based reporter-gene imaging strategies.

  • Speeding is a major cause of traffic accidents that affects the safety of pedestrians and harms drivers and their families, property and mental health. However, most researches on speeding behavior have been conducted by survey method, so the relationship between cause and effect is not clear. The reliability of the research cannot be carefully examined because most researches involve retrospective methods. It is clear that conducting experimental research is important for overcoming these limitations, but it is impossible to perform tests with real cars in real traffic situations due to the inability to control situational factors (e.g., other vehicles, traffic signal) which affect participants' behavior. A car simulator experiment was designed and the theory of planned behavior was applied to the experiment. Each participant was grouped and assigned to either high speeding intention group or low speeding intention group according to their levels of speeding intention and analyzed the difference of driving behavior indexes between two groups. The results revealed statistically significant differences between two groups on driving speed, speeding frequency, and accelerator pressure deviation. Finally, the limitations and the implications of this study were discussed.

  • Network RTK positioning, one of GNSS positioning systems, is currently very popular due to its easy operation and low cost. However, the network RTK positioning unquestioningly accepts observation result acquired with an ambiguity fixed-solution regardless of different field conditions and situations, and then it is applied to the practice. This paper, therefore, has investigated the effects of field conditions obtained network RTK survey data for the area with obstacles on the variation of positioning accuracy. Being explained in detail, after conducting survey by GPS-only positioning and combined GPS/GLONASS observations giving changes to the distance from obstacles and elevation angles, and then accuracy results of each positioning method were compared each other. As a result, while GPS-only point positioning method showed more stable results than combined GPS/GLONASS method in the areas with no obstacles, combined method gave better result than GPS-only for the areas with presence of obstacles. Based on the results of this experiment, when the further study is conducted with a variety of different field conditions affecting the survey accuracy, it can be expected that the accuracy of network RTK survey method would become to more popular.

  • Fucoidans are sulfated fucosylated polymers from the cell wall of brown algae. We assessed the effects of Fucus evanescens fucoidan on ultraviolet-B (UVB)-induced expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1) protein, mRNA, and promoter, and the phosphorylation of mitogen-activated protein kinases in vitro using an immortalized human keratinocyte cell line. Pretreatment with 10 and $100\;{\mu}g/ml$ fucoidan significantly inhibited UVB-induced MMP-1 protein, mRNA and promoter activity, compared to UVB irradiation alone. Extracellular signal regulated kinase activation was markedly inhibited by treatment with fucoidan, though c-JUN N-terminal kinase activity and p38 activation were only marginally affected by fucoidan. F. evanescens fucoidan may be a potential therapeutic agent for the prevention and treatment of skin photoaging.

The Neurotransmitter Pathway of Itching (가려움증의 신경전달 경로)

  • It was common that the classification of itching was classified into four categories according to the neurophysiological mechanisms of pruritoceptive itching, neuropathic itching, neurogenic itching and psychogenic itching. Recently it was classified by clinical criteria. The neurotransmission pathway of itch is divided into histamine-dependent pathway and histamine-independent pathway. Different receptors and neuropeptides act on each itch mediator. Itch mediators such as histamine, BAM8-22, and chloroquine are transmitted through the histamine-dependent pathway. Cowhage spicule, protease, and TSLP (Thymic stromal lymphopoietin) have been reported to be related to the histamine-independent pathway. These itch mediators, receptors, and neuropeptides are the targets of treatment for itching. Although itching and pain are typical noxious stimuli, and in the past, it was argued that two senses were transmitted through one noxious stimulus receptor. It has recently been shown that itching and pain have an independent neurotransmitter system and both neuronal systems inhibit each other. In addition, the mutual antagonism between itching and pain is explained by various mechanisms. Recently, many new mediators and receptors are being studied. The studies on histamine 4 receptor (H4 receptor) have been actively conducted. And the H4 receptors are expressed in immune cells such as T cells. The therapeutic agent for blocking the H4 receptor can inhibit the inflammatory reaction itself, which is important for the itching and chronicization. Understanding the underlying mechanisms of itching and studying new itch mediators will lead to the development of effective therapies, and this is what I think the itching study will go on.
