The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship among the variables and effects of depression and physical activity on fatigue in the elderly with chronic disease. A descriptive research design was employed in this study. In total, 500 elderly patients diagnosed with chronic disease were selected from 3 medical centers for the study. The measurements were used to examine their general characteristics, fatigue, depression, and physical activity. To analyze the data, statistical analyses, including ANOVA, t-test, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis, were conducted for the analysis of the data. The results indicated that the age, gender, and educational level in the first step model explained 6% of the effect on fatigue among the elderly with chronic disease. In addition, depression and physical activity in the second step model explained 16% of the effect on fatigue. These findings demonstrate the significance of (considering) depression and physical activity related to care plans when developing health-programs for decreasing fatigue and planning intervention strategies.
The purpose of this study was to verify whether there are any differences in the level of physical self-efficacy, depression and stress of meddle-aged men according to the stage of exercise change. As for the study objects, men at the ages between 40 and 50, residing in Seoul and mostly having temporary jobs, office jobs and professional jobs, were surveyed with the questionnaire prepared, and 299 copies of the questionnaire in total were collected and used for the final analysis. SPSS 12.0 was used for the processing of the data, while the results were deduced by using exploratory analysis, reliability analysis, 1-way ANOVA and correlation analysis. The study results were as follows: Firstly, their Physical self-efficacy showed significant differences according to the stage of exercise change of the study objects, and as a result of the post-hoc analysis, it was found that as the stage became higher, their physical self-efficacy became higher as well. Secondly, the level of depression showed significant differences according to the stage of exercise change of the study objects, and as a result of the post-hoc analysis, it was found that as the stage generally became higher, their depression showed lower levels. Thirdly, their stress showed significant differences according to the stage of exercise change of the study objects, and as a result of the post-hoc analysis, it was found that the preparation stage had a lower level of stress than the maintenance stage while the before-plan stage had a lower level of stress than the before-plan stage and the maintenance stage. Fourthly, it was found that as the stage of exercise change became higher, their stress tended to decrease while their self-efficacy tended to increase.
This study is to investigate the difference of depression and aggression according to lifestyle habits in 135 patients with coronary artery disease. The survey was conducted from May 13 to May 15, 2019. In order to investigate the difference of depression and aggression according to lifestyle, independent sample t-test and one-way ANOVA were conducted. Post-hoc analysis was conducted when there was a difference between depression and aggression. The results of the analysis showed that the group with relatively high smoking and drinking was high in physiological depression and the group with active participation in exercise and dietary control showed low physiological depression. The group with more alcohol intake showed higher level of verbal aggression, physiological aggression, and aggressive attitude than the group without alcohol. The group that participated actively in physical activity showed lower physiological aggression and aggressive attitude than the group without active aggression. It was found that the group that participates hard in dietary control is less aggressive than the group that does not.

This study examined the associations of physical activity by intensity with depression and suicidal thoughts among middle school students in South Korea. This study used data from the Survey of Korean Youth Health Risk Behavior. The samples were middle school students (Total 37,420). Logistic regression analysis were used. For depression, 33% of males and 43% of females felt depressed, whereas 17.8% of males and 27.7% of females experienced suicidal thoughts. In regression, both moderate physical activity and vigorous physical activity were associated significantly with a lower incidence of depression. In suicidal thoughts, moderate physical activity was associated with a lower incidence of suicidal thoughts among female students. In path analysis, vigorous physical activity had a direct and indirect effect on depression and suicidal thoughts. Physical activity is a potential mediator in decreasing depression and suicidal thoughts among middle school students.
The purpose of this study is to identify various factors related to depression in adolescents. In this study, a multiple regression analysis was conducted to investigate the factors affecting depression in 1,881 1st grade students in middle school, using the 2016 Panel Investigation for Children and Adolescents of Korea. The attention problems, aggression, physical symptoms, and social withdrawal perceived by adolescents had significant effects on the depression. Out of them, the physical symptoms had the greatest effects on the depression. When the attention problems, aggression, physical symptoms, and social withdrawal of adolescents were higher, the symptoms of depression were increased, which explained 54.1% of adolescents' depression. Such results of this study could be helpful for the educational support and practical intervention for the enhancement of mental health of adolescents.

This study recruited 77 pre-menopausal women, and excluding missing values, 53 (mean age 44.2±6.5 years) blood indexes were statistically confirmed and then analyzed the effect of indexes on the Beck Depression Inventory. The Beck's Depression Inventory(BDI)'s average of the study subjects was 7.6±7.2, and most of the depression symptoms were within the normal range. Only two women were very serious and other two women were serious state. As a result of this study, 21 questions of BDI was classified into 5 sub-factors. Of these, 2 factors were considered physical depression, 1 factor was mood depression, 1 factor was cognitive depression, and 1 factor undecided. As a result of the correlation analysis, triglyceride, LDL(low density lipoprotein) cholesterol and potassium showed statistically significant positive relationship with depressive factors. On the other hand, HDL(high density lipoprotein) cholesterol, sodium and chloride ions showed negative relationship with depressive factors. When multiple regression analysis was performed. Considering the depression factors was dependent variable, and triglyceride, cholesterol, blood sugar, and ketone bodies was considered as independent variables. HDL(high density lipoprotein) cholesterol had a statistically significant negative effect on the depression factor 3. Considering the depression factors was dependent variable, and minerals were considered as independent variables. Potassium had a positive effect, and chloride ions had a negative effect on the depressive factor 3. This study was limited to 77 pre-menopausal women. In the future, post-menopausal women, men, and clinical neurological disorders group will be possible.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between depression and physical health of the elderly and to provide fundamental data for programs which improve the health of this population. The subjects were 168 elderly people(55 years and older) who resided at home in Taegu. They were surveyed by interview using a closed- ended questionnaire. The survey was done from September 16 to October 16 in 2000. The instruments used in this study were general characteristics, Short form Geriatric Depression Scale(SGDS), Barthel Index, Muscular skeletal symptoms scale, Northern Illinois University's Health Self Rating Scale. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, multiple regression with SPSS PC 10.0 version for Windows. The findings were as follows: 1. As compared 65-74 years elderly group, 75-84 years group was significantly higher score for depression(F=3.17, p=.026). As compared elderly group who has own spouse, the group who has no own spouse was significantly higher score for depression(t=- 2.44, p=.016). 2. The aged who have more limitation of Activities of Daily Living(ADL)(t=3.93, p=.000), pain of muscular skeletal symptoms(F=5.33, p=.002) and poor perceived health state(F=17.04, p=.000) showed the higher severity of depression than the aged who have not. 3. ADL correlated negatively with depression(r=- .293, p=.000), pain of muscular skeletal symptoms correlated positively(r=.251, p=.001), perceived health status correlated negatively(r=-.522, p=.000). 4. The combination of perceived health status and ADL explained 29.1% of the varience of depression. On the basis of the above findings the following recommendations are made; 1. Developing health programs is needed considering ADL, pain of muscular skeletal symptoms, perceived health status, demographic variables (age, spouse status) which have an significant effects on depression of the elderly. 2. In the following study, the use of the various scale is needed which reflects physical status of the elderly in home.
