Examining the Urban Growth Process of the 1st New Town -Focusing on the Keyword Network Analysis of Newspaper Articles using Text Mining- (1기 신도시의 도시 성장 과정 고찰 - 텍스트마이닝을 이용한 신문기사의 키워드 네트워크 분석을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore urban issues that have arisen in the urban growth process of the 1st New Town for about 34 years since its construction through newspaper articles. For this purpose, newspaper articles related to the 1st New Town were collected using web crawling, and content analysis was conducted based on text mining. The main findings of the study are as follows. First, in the early stages of the construction of the 1st New Town, issues were diverse in the following six sectors: living service facilities, real estate, transportation, urban development and maintenance, safety, and housing supply, but gradually narrowed down to those of real estate and urban development and maintenance. Second, during the new town construction and urban stabilization stages, the network structure centered on 'Seoul' was maintained, which can be explained by the fact that the 1st New Town was geographically located on the outskirts of Seoul, and many articles compared the issues to Seoul. Third, the issue of urban aging appeared from the 10th year after construction, and the discussion on urban reorganization due to urban aging began in earnest from the 30th year after construction. The significance of the study is that it explored the urban issues that occurred throughout the urban growth process of the 1st New Town, and can be used as a basis for preparing a plan to reorganize the 1st New Town.

Analyzing the Trend of False·Exaggerated Advertisement Keywords Using Text-mining Methodology (1990-2019) (텍스트마이닝 기법을 활용한 허위·과장광고 관련 기사의 트렌드 분석(1990-2019))

  • This study analyzed the trend of the term 'false and exaggerated advertisement' in 5,141 newspaper articles from 1990 to 2019 using text mining methodology. First of all, we identified the most frequent keywords of false and exaggerated advertisements through frequency analysis for all newspaper articles, and understood the context between the extracted keywords. Next, to examine how false and exaggerated advertisements have changed, the frequency analysis was performed by separating articles by 10 years, and the tendency of the keyword that became an issue was identified by comparing the number of academic papers on the subject of the highest keywords of each year. Finally, we identified trends in false and exaggerated advertisements based on the detailed keywords in the topic using the topic modeling. In our results, it was confirmed that the topic that became an issue at a specific time was extracted as the frequent keywords, and the keyword trends by period changed in connection with social and environmental factors. This study is meaningful in helping consumers spend wisely by cultivating background knowledge about unfair advertising. Furthermore, it is expected that the core keyword extraction will provide the true purpose of advertising and deliver its implications to companies and related employees who commit misconduct.

  • This study is the result of the analysis on the user interface of the Korean internet newspapers. To investigate the user interfaces, the home pages of the 6 internet newspaper were selected as the samples. Then, the information procedures, designs. information presentations, and searching routines of that samples were analyzed. For the home-page design of the internet newspaper and the education of the article search by the journalist-librarian with the press or the librarian in common. the results of the paper will be helpful.

  • In 2013, the Japanese bookstore company CCC entrusted the management and operation of the library as the designated administrator of Takeo City Library. The library has a commercial facility in the hall and uses its own classification system. It was reported the number of visiting users was increased as 3.7 times in the first year of the reopening and it has attracted the attention of the public. The purpose of this study is to investigate the background, current status and operational characteristics of the Takeo City Library by conducting the literature review, content analysis of newspaper articles and interview survey on the library. As a result of the research, newspaper articles positively assessed the fact that the library provided a 'multicultural space' to small city residents, increased visitors, and local economic effects, but pointed out that the operating deficit continued, and the problem occurred in the selection of collections.

A Study on the Factors of Well-aging through Big Data Analysis : Focusing on Newspaper Articles (빅데이터 분석을 활용한 웰에이징 요인에 관한 연구 : 신문기사를 중심으로)

  • People hope to live a healthy and happy life achieving satisfaction by striking a good work-life balance. Therefore, there is a growing interest in well-aging which means living happily to a healthy old age without worry. This study identified important factors related to well-aging by analyzing news articles published in Korea. Using Python-based web crawling, 1,199 articles were collected on the news service of portal site Daum till November 2020, and 374 articles were selected which matched the subject of the study. The frequency analysis results of text mining showed keywords such as 'elderly', 'health', 'skin', 'well-aging', 'product', 'person', 'aging', 'female', 'domestic' and 'retirement' as important keywords. Besides, a social network analysis with 45 important keywords revealed strong connections in the order of 'skin-wrinkle', 'skin-aging' and 'old-health'. The result of the CONCOR analysis showed that 45 main keywords were composed of eight clusters of 'life and happiness', 'disease and death', 'nutrition and exercise', 'healing', 'health', and 'elderly services'.

Covert Cohabitation of News and Advertisement: News Frame Towards Advertisers of the Media (뉴스와 광고의 은밀한 동거: 광고주에 대한 언론의 뉴스구성)

  • This research followed the major South Korean newspapers, Chosun, JoongAng, HanKyoreh and KyungHyang newspapers to study their relationship with advertisement - on how they use advertisement to what degree and which views they take, also looking into the quantity of advertisement. The results of analysis is as thus: first, the more advertised companies tended to have more news reports about them overall. Also, advertised companies were usually shown in positive light rather than a negative one. The most notable constructive commonality found in the positively advertised companies were that they were not usually introduced upfront through the title of the news article (or within the body of the article) but rather mentioned within the media frame. The reasons for this pattern in advertising is to make bias towards JoongAng which is obvious for pro companies, especially for the Chosun which is known for being neutral in most company matters even for the HanKyoreh, KyungHyang known for their usual negative attitude towards private companies.

An analysis of mobile communication environment by a socio-technical approach (사회기술적 접근방식을 통한 모바일 통신환경 분석)

  • By the end of 2012, there were 5.1 billion mobile communication subscribers in South Korea. The majority of subscriptions (97.3 percent) were for mobile phones, particularly smartphones. From 2010 to 2012, the number of mobile phone subscriptions increased 2,000 percent, growing from an initial subscriber base of 150 million. This paper explores the changing mobile communication landscape from a socio-technological perspective to understand the underlying drivers of change and their effects on the South Korean populace. A content analysis of 11,156 electronic newspaper articles mentioning mobile communication in South Korea and occurring between 2010 and 2012 was conducted. 5,119 keywords were extracted based on frequency statistics and further analyzed to determine the drivers of change. Based on this analysis, we conclude that South Korea's mobile communication environment is focused on rapid expansion of technology with minor consideration given to the social aspects of this change. This has resulted in several negative consequences and we urge for new policies by government and industry to address this gap.
