Development of a Strut Mount with High Reliability by Improving Durability (내구성 향상을 통한 고 신뢰성 Strut Mount 개발)

  • A strut mount is an important part of vehicles which reduces the vibration and the impact transmitted from the wheels while supporting a shock absorber and a coil spring. Rubber compounding, shape design, and process design technologies are important components to improve the functionality of a strut mount such as durability, static, dynamic, and torsional characteristics. Among them the rubber compounding technology is the key technology which dominates the quality of a strut mount. In this study a strut mount with high reliability has been developed by adopting new rubber compounding and improving the shape of the inner plate and the isolator. Through the tests for prototypes it has been shown that the durability has been improved more than 2.5 times, from about 60,000 cycles to about 160,000 cycles.

  • As a result of the compulsory of information system audit and a rise in audit demand, the quality improvement of information system audit is being emphasized. However, since the current information system audit heavily depends on the auditor's experience, skill, and subjective judgments, it incurs distrust in the objectivity and reliability of audit results from audit interest person. Furthermore, so far research activities aimed at securing the objectivity and reliability of audits have not been adequately carried out. Therefore, this paper presents a quantitative method for information system audit evaluation in order to contribute to the quality improvement of overall information system audit through securing compliance, objectivity, and reliability of information system audit. The quantitative method is largely composed of two sectors, such as evaluation areas and items, scores calculation for evaluation items, and can generally apply the information system audit standard to information system audit evaluation.

  • A methodology for BIM Quality Assurance in the construction industry is becoming increasingly an important issue to determine the reliability of BIM. However, the quality assurance of BIM is currently limited to check 3D models, such as clash detection and space layout while verification methods for disciplinary BIM results from structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and estimation do not exist yet. Particularly, in the BIM-based estimation mathematical equations to take off quantities are not clearly exposed so that the results are not quite accepted at practices. With the concept of reliability engineering defined in the manufacturing industry to improve reliability of outcomes of BIM-based quantity take-off, impacting factors that affect reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off were derived. It was found that the factors also include the modeling method and the features of a BIM tool. Therefore, this research aims to propose modeling and verification methods to improve reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off through the pilot test that was performed with commercial BIM tools and IFC-based BIM data.

  • The recent development of USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology has broadened its applications to many fields of industry. The USN technology enables the system to monitor and control the status of distributed sensor nodes based on the low-powered communications. Applying the USN in the train control domain, the operational efficiency can be enhanced, where the reliability and the safety of the system are the key challenges. This paper suggests the system design for evaluating and improving the reliability and safety of the gateway, which is a USN component that manages the radio network among the sensors and collects the information from them. For this purpose, the reliability and the level of safety integrity of a general gateway have been predicted quantitatively and the supplementary design has been proposed for the selected week points. The verification on the reliability and the safety of the improved gateway according to the related standards has been followed. With the results of the study, the applicability of USN gateway for train control systems has been reviewed.

  • Zigbee wireless communication technology has features which are low cost, low power and coping ability against a high delay time when the automatic wireless system is manufactured. Therefore, in this paper, we research a method improving the data transmission reliability of the industrial equipment control and management system using zigbee wireless communication technology. we used a convolutional code with code rate R=1/2, constraint K=5 and generation polynomial constant g1=(10111) and g2=(10011) as a reliability method. From the transmission simulation at LOS environment, we are able to predict the transmission error performance according to the distance difference. Furthermore, At the PER performance analysis, we can get the result that this system reliability with convolutional code is improved about 5 times than the existing system. From these results, we can prove that the convolutional code is the solution to improve the system reliability of the industrial equipment control and management system using zigbee wireless communication technology.

  • This paper proposes a derating design method for improving system reliability by using a probabilistic approach. In the proposed design, the focus is upon system levels in determining derated levels of stresses such as temperature and current, unlike recent design approaches that focus on component levels. System reliability is evaluated using component reliability metrics that are given as functions of time and unknown stresses; this evaluation is based on a series system-reliability model. The variation in stress, which was not considered in previous derating designs, is introduced in the present design to account for the uncertainty in both environmental and operating conditions at the customer' hands. Optimization problems for system reliability improvement are formulated and solved using FORM to determine the best derating design. An example of a derating design for an electrical system shows the details of the proposed method and its applicability to systems design for reliability improvement.

  • The performance of weapon system, based on the acceleration of advanced scientific technology, has been reinforced to the state of precision, complexion and multi-function. People have given great interest for a long time on its development, acquisition cost and enormous expense of operation/support. Under this environmental situation, this research paper proposes two kinds of implementation that can improve the RAM(Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) on weapon system. The first section is to understand all of the actual states on its reliability, in the acquisition process and to make the improvement for RAM at the milestones on the acquisition steps. The next section is to establish a defense RAM center, which will be closely cooperated with acquisition organization such as Ministry of Defense, DAPA(Defense Acquisition Program Administration), DTaQ(Defense agency for Technology and Quality) and ADD(Agency for Defense Development), etc. and to conclusively improve the RAM of weapon system in South Korea.

  • To verify the function of vehicle is becoming more and more difficult because many electronic control units have been embedded in vehicle with development of electronics industry. The reliability of vehicle should be considered above all important because malfunction of vehicle can cause damage of human life. In this paper, defect diagnosis platform based on CAN network is proposed to improve the reliability of vehicle. Reliability of vehicle is significantly increased by adopting the structural test via dedicated test path after manufacturing. Besides, the test cost is reduced because additional test pins are not required.

  • As the importance of software has been recognized, the impact of embedded software quality on product quality has become increasingly important. Therefore, in this study, reliability is extracted according to the embedded characteristics and it is described that the reliability evaluation of the embedded software is made easier.
