A case study on evaluating RAM performance of the door systems through field data (도어시스템의 운영데이터를 통한 RAM 성능 평가 사례 연구)

  • This article deals with a case study on evaluating RAM(Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) performance of the door systems. The RAM performance is analysed based on the field data. The definition and category of failures of the door systems are presented and reliability for each categories is predicted with field data. MTTR(Mean Time To Repair) is estimated through the replacement time of line replaceable units(LRU). The availability is predicted based on the estimated reliability and maintainability.

A Technique for Selecting Quadrature Points for Dimension Reduction Method to Improve Efficiency in Reliability-based Design Optimization (신뢰성 기반 최적설계의 효율성 향상을 위한 차원감소법의 적분직교점 선정 기법)

  • This paper proposes an efficient dimension reduction method (DRM) that considers the nonlinearity of the performance functions in reliability-based design optimization (RBDO). The dimension reduction method evaluates the reliability more accurately than the first-order reliability method (FORM) using integration quadrature points and weights. However, its efficiency is hindered as the number of quadrature points increases owing to the need for an additional evaluation of the performance function. In this study, we assessed the nonlinearity of the performance function in RBDO and proposed criteria for determining the number of quadrature points based on the degree of nonlinearity. This approach suggests adjusting the number of quadrature points during each iteration of the RBDO process while maintaining the accuracy of theDRM while improving the computational efficiency. The nonlinearity of the performance function was evaluated using the angle between the vectors used in the maximum probable target point (MPTP) search. Numerical tests were conducted to determine the appropriate number of quadrature points according to the degree of nonlinearity. Through a 2D numerical example, it is confirmed that the proposed method improves the efficiency while maintaining the accuracy of the dimension reduction method or Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS).

  • 제조설비의 운영은 적절한 생산제품의 품질(신뢰도 생산단가 등)을 유지하는 조건으로 유지되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 제조설비의 적정운영조건을 구하기 위하여 제조설비의 RAM 및 순기비용(LCC)이 제조설비의 성능에의 영향을 분석하고 최적대안을 구하였다. 이를 위하여 우선 설비의 RAM 및 LCC산정모델을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 제조설비의 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위한 수리모델을 제시하였다. 이를 위한 전산프로그램을 개발하고 이를 이용하여 제조시스템의 성능 분석 사례를 들어 보였다. 또한 다양한 환경에서 제조시스템의 성능을 예측하기 위하여 시스템의 복잡성이 큰 문제를 분석하는데 적절한 GMDH방법을 사용하여 추정하였다. 이를 이용한 성능예측의 실 예를 들어 본 연구의 과정을 보였다.

실해역 운항 데이터를 활용한 최적항로 지원 시스템의 효과 검증

  • 최적항로 지원 시스템은 실해역 속도 성능 예측방법에서의 선택 근거확보와 정확도 평가를 위한 효과 검증이 반드시 필요하다. 하지만 이 같은 성능검증에 있어서 동일한 선박에 대한 다양한 대안 항로에서의 동시성능계측이 불가능하기 때문에 효과를 직접 비교하기는 상당히 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 최적항로 지원 시스템의 효과 검증을 위한 간접적인 절차를 제안하였고, 시스템의 내부 분석코드를 이용하여 효과를 비교 검증하였다. 그 절차는 1) 계산의 근거 인기상 정보의 정확성 검증, 2) 실제 항로에서의 성능예측계산의 신뢰성 확인, 3) 신뢰성이 확보된 계산방법을 이용한 최적항로선택, 4) 실제 항로와 최적항로의 연료 효율성 비교의 4단계로 이루어진다. 대상 선박은 폴라리스쉬핑의 솔라돌핀호(208k BC)이며 실선 운항 데이터는 최적항로 지원 시스템을 통하여 직접 계측하였다. 그 결과 호주-한국 항차에서 최적항로를 항해할 경우 약 6.0%의 연료 절감 효과를 기대할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Probability of Performance Failure and Change of Roughness Coefficient According to Accumulation of Debris in Storm Sewer (토사적체에 따른 우수관의 조도계수 변화와 성능불능확률)

  • Reliability model which can calculate the probability of performance failure of storm sewer was developed considering change of roughness coefficient in this study. Roughness coefficient should be re-evaluated due to accumulations of debris in sewer pipe. Therefore, roughness coefficient according to depth of debris in circular sewer pipe was determined for the present study. Reliability analysis was performed with the new roughness coefficient. After the analysis, it was found that capacity of storm sewer can be significantly decreased and probability of performance failure of storm sewer can be significantly increased by increasing the depth of debris in storm sewer. In this study, reliability model was applied for the Daegu and Jeonju using new roughness coefficient which was determined according to accumulation of debris in circular storm sewer. It was observed that if the depth of debris is increased, roughness coefficient is increased simultaneously and probability of performance failure of storm sewer is significantly increased.

  • Asset valuation of social infrastructure is essential for rational decision-making for efficient management of assets. In addition, it can be an indicator for correctly recognizing assets. In general, Korea applies depreciated replacement cost based on the straight-line method to evaluate asset value, yet this is unsuitable for evaluating actual value because it is depreciated at a constant rate over the useful life period. In order to evaluate the asset value considering the performance of the bridge, the performance index of the bridge is estimated using the Weibull distribution. Using the estimated performance indicators and defect index, a new asset value evaluation method is proposed and compared and analyzed with the existing method. The proposed valuation method can take into account the performance of the bridge, so it is judged to be more objective and reasonable than existing method.

MIMO ARQ Systems Using Alamouti Coding with Optimal Retransmission Order for Maritime Communications System (해상 통신을 위한 Alamouti 방식의 다중안테나 기반 최적 재전송 순서 기법)

  • Recently there have been much interest in the performance improvement of maritime communication system. In the maritime communication system, the wireless channel is likely to be time-invariant and the retransmission scheme is not proper because it does not provide time diversity. For the improvement of reliability, we consider MIMO ARQ scheme using Alamouti-type signal which can provide space and time diversity. In this paper, we also propose the criterion of optimal retransmission order and provide its performance of error probability and packet throughput. The proposed MIMO ARQ scheme with optimal retransmission order has performance gain over random ordered MIMO ARQ and conventional Chase combining method. Therefore we expect that it can be adapted to the next generation maritime communication system.

A Study on Design Criteria of Rockfall Protection Fence Considering Reliability Index (신뢰성지수를 고려한 낙석방지울타리 설계기준 고찰)

  • The performance criteria of rockfall protection fence and reliability index were investigated considering characteristic of rockfall energy occurred at 160 cut slopes in national highway. As a result of study on statistic of variables that decide rockfall energy using Monte-Carlo simulation, the degree of slope was normal distribution type, mass of rockfall and height of slope was lognormal distribution type. The rockfall energy follows lognormal distribution because of statistical characteristic of mass of rockfall. The reliability index of rockfall protection fence was 0.678 and the failure probability of was very high as 24.9%. Proposed performance criteria of rockfall protection fence considering the scale of domestic rockfall energy is maximum 500 kJ and the range of reliability index was from 1.028 to 1.956. the failure probability of rockfall protection fence was from 14.8 to 2.5 percent if applying the performance criteria using the reliability index.

Reliable Contention-Based Forwarding Approach (Contention-Based Forwarding의 신뢰성 향상 방안)

  • Due to recent advances in wireless devices and the automotive industry, Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) have emerged as a very promising technology for transferring data collected on the road by moving cars. The delivered data may contain emergency information which affects the safety of passengers and drivers as well as the traffic congestion, and the routing protocols have thus a significant impact on the performance of VANETs. In this paper, we study the impact of movement direction of the participating cars which forward data packets on the performance of data delivery and present a new approach which extends the contention-based forwarding (CBF). The proposed reliable CBF (R-CBF) increases the reliability of data deliver on the traffic lights installed roads and reduces the overall propagation delay without routing loops or interruption of data forwarding that may be caused by changes of relative positions of involving cars in routing. Simulation demonstrates that the R-CBF diminishes propagation delay by 38% in comparison to G-SRMB which forwards data to moving cars in the backward direction and eliminates unnecessary retransmissions.
