  • 표준특허란 표준문서의 규격을 기술적으로 구현하는 과정에서 필수적으로 적용해야 하는 특허로서, 최근 선진국은 "R&D-특허-표준화의 연계"를 강화하고 있고 글로벌 기업 또한 표준과 연계한 특허 획득에 주력하고 있다. 우리나라 또한 기술선점, 시장지배력 및 경제적 파급효과 등의 표준특허 확보의 중요성을 인식하고 있고, 정부와 정부부처의 산하 연구기관을 중심으로 표준특허 관련 법 제도 등의 관련연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 표준특허 분석결과만이 연구결과로 공개되고 있을 뿐, 실제로 표준특허 선별을 위한 정형화된 기법은 전무한 상태이며 분석방법론 관련연구 또한 매우 미미한 상태이다. 따라서 본 논문은 형태학적 특성에 기반을 두어 표준과 특허문서 간 유사도를 측정하고, 측정된 유사도를 분석하여 신뢰성 있게 표준특허를 선별하는 방법을 제안하고 그 적용사례를 분석한다.

  • 기술집약적 산업의 급격한 기술혁신 속도 및 환경변화에 따른 기술수명 주기의 단축, 기술간 경쟁을 통한 시장지배력의 우위를 선점하기 위해 기술융합을 통한 연구전략 수립은 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 최근 4차 산업혁명 기반의 반도체산업이 이러한 예이며, 이와 같은 기술집약적 산업의 기술융합이 매우 중요해짐에 따라, 관련 전략수립을 위한 다양한 방법이 시도되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 데이터 기반의 논문 특허 분석을 통해 반도체산업의 플라즈마 기술이슈의 기술융합 동향 및 특허 동향 분석과 이를 통한 특허 전략 수립 사례를 제시하고자 한다.

A Causality Analysis of the Tangerine Market by Distribution Channel (감귤시장의 유통단계별 가격 인과성 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate price transmissions between wholesale and retail markets regarding Jeju tangerines by employing co-integration analysis and vector error correction model. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, the long-run equilibrium relationship was found among wholesale and retail markets in time series for level by distribution channel. Second, a short-run causality relationship was observed between wholesale and retail markets. Third, the long-run causality relationship between wholesale market and retail markets was found bidirectional and feedback effect. These results imply that the wholesale price performs a central role in establishing price in the tangerine market, and the wholesale market influences tangerine price. In conclusion, for the development of a competitive tangerine industry, it is necessary to aggressively promote the policy of supply and demand control of tangerine production through organizing producers.

  • The presence of transmission congestion may reduce the market size and split the bulk power system into smaller systems. Consequently, this can be a key factor to the increase in market price. This paper analyzes the effect of exercising local market power on the market price, and derives a range of indices which quantify the degree and incentive of local market power through statistical analysis in an electricity market with uniform pricing scheme. The applicability and effectiveness of the derived indices on competitive electricity markets are demonstrated on the Korea electricity market.

  • The cyclicality of productivity has been one of the essential issues in macroeconomics. Since Solow(1957) developed the dominant approach to the measurement of productivity growth, Solow's approach, which assumes the perfect competition, the constant returns to scale, and the full use of input factor has been modified particularly in Hall's(1990) and Basu's(1996) works. Their researches take account of market power, returns to scale, and variable factor utilization. This paper establishes the empirical model based on Hall's(1990) and Basu's(1996) models, estimates 4 types of Solow's reidual in manufacturing and 2 service industries over the period 1975:1-2010:4, and analyzes the cyclicality of measured productivity. The result proved the measured productivity to be procyclical in manufacturing industries and electricity and water industry, and in contrast to the Basu's, the variable factor utilization transformed the countercyclicality of measured productivity into its procyclicality in the Korean economy.

  • This paper addresses the antitrust case of Google's general search service to find evidence and logic used for defining markets, and the proof of dominant power and its abuse in detail. This antitrust case has certain meaning because it is not easy to apply traditional approaches to a general search service, which has two-sided market characteristics. This paper finds some implications through an analysis of the antitrust case shown below. First, for market definition, the overall qualitative analysis can be used to draw conclusions without a quantitative analysis, such as a Small but Significant and Non-transitory Increasing in Price (SSNIP) analysis. Second, the multi-homing behavior seems to be one of the key factors in judging the dominant power in Internet-based services. Lastly, the fact that the value of traffic can differ based on the traffic source needs to be considered to address the competition issue of Internet-based services.

  • This essay begins with the following questions; "What is a fundamental source of media power?" and "How can the media power dominate market?". This essay aims at answering the questions. I made my selection of countries such as Venezuela, Italy and UK for this article with a political economic approach. This analysis found evidence that an enormous conglomerate ownership, and alliance or convergence between media and political power are two fundamental source of the media power. With the integration of newspaper and television the media monopoly increased their supplies and political influences as I have shown. Despite the growing threat of media monopoly power to democracy and public interest, in recent years, governments worldwide have chosen to ease regulations.

  • The influence of online platforms has become even more powerful than ever and there has been growing calls to regulate its enormous market power. Issues relating to platform monopolies have been discussed in Korea and recently the Online Platform Intermediary Transactions Fairness Bill has passed the Cabinet Council. Thus, we aim to analyze online platform regulations from stakeholder perspective and then address the regulatory direction. We first investigate the consequences of platform strategies including mergers that platform owners take. In addition, we inspect the possible effects of online platform regulations on its stakeholders. Our research can contribute to having a more balanced view on the online platform regulation that is somewhat in the favor of protecting platform complementors and consumers.

An Empirical Study on the Change in Market Power after Mergers & Acquisition (합병과 시장지배력의 관계분석)

  • There are three major motives for M&A, financial synergy effect, operating & managerial synergy effect, and tax effect. The purpose of this study is to prove the operating & managerial synergy effect of M&A. To do this, we analyze the market-ripple effect of M&A, focusing on the increase in market power. Specifically we use cross-sectional data from 1985 to 1998 to show whether a market power of mergers is higher than that of a matched non-merging control group. we use time series data to show whether a market power of merger is higher than that of pre-merger. Also we use the event study using market model to show the stock price movement after mergers. The result is that although revenue increase after mergers, profit of the firms does not improve after mergers. Also there is sufficient evidence to say that there is a cumulative abnormal return for the firms after mergers.
