Photochromic Properties of Cellulose Derivatives Having Spirobenzopyran Group (스피로벤조피란을 포함하는 셀룰로오스 유도체의 광변색 특성)

  • Cellulose acetate derivatives containing 6-(p-hexyloxyphenyl)carbonyl spirobenzopyran (CA-COSP) were prepared from base-catalyzed etherification of cellulose acetate, and their physical and photochromic properties were characterized. The degree of substitution of COSP was calculated from the amount of residual hydroxyl groups in cellulose acetate measured by the $^1H$-NMR and UV spectrometric data. It was ranging from 0.87 to 45.5% depending on the reaction condition. UV/vis spectrometry of the resulting CA-COSP revealed that the polymer shows a reversible color change by changing its color from colorless to blue upon UV irradiation forming a merocyanine structure, and returning back again to colorless spiropyran structure by visible light or by heat. The rate of color change was faster in solution than in the film. In the more polar solvent, the more stable was the resulting merocyanine, and the slower was the rate of reverse reaction to spiropyran. Compared to COSP blended with cellulose acetate, in which a phase separation was observed for samples containing more than 0.9 wt% of COSP, up to 48 wt% of COSP could be blended in CA-COSP without phase separation.

Characteristics and Optimization of the Formula of Mashed Potatoes Using Purple-fleshed Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) by Mixture Design (혼합물 실험계획법을 이용한 유색감자 자영(Solanum tuberosum L.) 매쉬드 포테이토 분말의 혼합비 최적화 및 매쉬드 포테이토의 특성)

  • Purple-fleshed potato powder (PFPP) was investigated to determine optimal mixing ratio with milk powder and dextrin to produce a ready-to-eat mashed potato powder. The rheological characteristics, color, and anthocyanin contents were studied at a different concentration of ingredients. The power-law model was applied to explain the mechanical spectra of mashed potatoes which represented the change in structure induced by different mixing ratios. Mixture design was used to obtain the experimental points used to establish the empirical models to describe the effects of each ingredient on the characteristic of the mashed potato. The results of mechanical spectra showed that both storage and loss moduli (G' and G'') were significantly influenced by PFPP and milk powder concentration. The power law parameters n' and n'' showed higher values for the mashed potato with a lower concentration of PFPP and a higher concentration of milk powder, which showed that the gel networks involved in the mashed potato were weaker. The optimum mixing ratio with the highest redness and anthocyanin content, while maintaining the rheological properties similar to the commercial mashed potato, was determined as PFPP:milk powder:dextrin = 90.49:4.86:4.65 (w/w). The proportions of PFPP and milk powder in the formulation significantly changed the characteristics of mashed potato, whereas no significant effect of dextrin was observed in this formulation.

Analysis of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of Mongolian wild lingonberry and blueberry, and identification of their bioactive compounds (몽골 야생 링곤베리와 블루베리의 항산화, 항염증 효과 및 생리활성 물질 분석 연구)

  • The Mongolian lingonberry and blueberry are two essential food sources found in Mongolia. This study investigated the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of methanol extracts from Mongolian lingonberry (LBE) and blueberry (BBE). Compared to the LBE, the BBE showed higher total phenolic, flavonoid, and anthocyanin contents, as well as antioxidant capacities. The LBE and BBE inhibited the mRNA expression of pro-inflammatory genes, including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and cyclooxygenase (COX-2) in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. In addition, the LBE and BBE inhibited NADPH oxidase-2 (Nox2) mRNA expression, indicating that they have cellular antioxidant capacities. Anthocyanin derivatives of the LBE and BBE were analyzed using LC-QTOF/MS. Six anthocyanins were identified in the BBE, while one was detected in the LBE. Our findings demonstrate that the anthocyanin-rich LBE and BBE could be used as functional food sources in Mongolia.

Polarization Properties of J-aggregates by Mutual Mixing Effect in the LB Films of Merocyanine Dyes (메로시아닌 색소 LB막의 상호혼합효과에 의한 J-aggregates 편광특성)

  • The physical properties of the LB films with merocyanine dyes have been published and attract attention due to the possibility of molecular structure control. The evaluation of the thin films was focused for the purpose of molecular structure control. The molecular structure in the case of the thin films with dyes can be examine by optical absorption spectra measurements. In the result measured by optical absorption spectra, the $[DX]_{1-x}[DO]_x$ LB films shows a large in-plane anisotropy and the transition dipole moment of red-shifted band is preferentially oriented perpendicular to the dipping direction of the film, while that of the blue-shifted band prefers the dipping direction. The spectrum for $0_{\circ}$, $90_{\circ}$-polarized light coincides with the spectrum for non-polarized light and also with the spectrum was observed in the LB film deposited using a fresh solution. These results show that the aging process does not cause a structural change in chromophore but a change in the degree of molecular orientation. In the results, study of the merocyanine dyes LB films using optical absorption spectra would an interesting problem of absorbance peak shifts and mixed components.

The optical systems are mostly fabricated using vacuum evaporation. casting and Langmuir-Blodgett method and the arrangement and orientation of dye molecules is one of the most important factors in the study on the optical characteristics. In this study. we fabricated the molecular systems through the LB techniques and investigated the optical characteristics of merocyanine dye LB film using the oscillation characteristics of quartz crystal. It was quite interesting behavior that the resistance and frequency shift at the parallel resonance under the UV irradiation.

  • The light harvesting pigment proteins of dinoflagellates exhibit essentially 100% efficient energy transfer from carotenoid (peridinin) to chlorophyll a within the antenna pigment complexes. The high efficiency of solar energy harvesing (particularly blue light) for photosynthesis in dinoflagellates is attributable to the unique molecular topography of peridinin and chlorophyll e within the protein crevice. The mechanisms of energy transfer from carotenoids to chlorophyll in higher plants have also been discussed in comparison with the dinoflagellate antenna pigment complexes. As an example of solar energy harvesting, particularly red light, for photosynthesis in algae, the molecular topography and energy transfer in the photosynthetic accessory pigment protein, Chroomonas phycocyanin, have also been discussed.

Microwave Syntheses of Subphthalocyanine Derivatives and Their Properties (서브프탈로시아닌 유도체의 마이크로파 합성 및 이의 특성)

  • Subphthalocyanine (SubPc) derivatives with different kind of substitute groups were synthesized successfully from various precursors using conventional and microwave heating sources. The chemical structure of precursor and product was determined by $^{1}H-NMR$ and FT-IR spectrometer. Also, spectroscopic property was measured by UV-Vis spectrometer. Compared to the conventional synthesis, it was found that SubPc derivatives were synthesized for a shorter reaction time with a higher synthetic yield in the microwave synthesis.

  • 중국유(中國柚)의 주요성분은 비타민 C가 레몬보다 10배나 많이 함유되어 있고 또한 과피 안쪽에 펙틴 성분이 다량으로 함유되어 있다. 특히 과피가 일반 감귤류 보다 10배 이상 두꺼워 비타민P의 ?량 또한 다량으로 함유되어 있다. 즉, 유기산, 비타민P와 비타민C가 매우 많이 함유되어 있어서 예로부터 중국에서는 감기와, 피부노화, 피로를 방지하는데 사용되어져 왔으며 이러한 효능은 유기산에서도 많이 발생되었다. 그 밖에 비타민B군과 당질, 단백질등이 다른 감귤류 품종보다 많고, 모세혈관을 보호하는 헤스페리딘(비타민P)이 다량으로 함유되어 있어서 심혈관 질환 장애와 뇌졸증, 뇌출혈 등을 억제하는 효과를 가지고 있다. 또한 몸 안에 쌓여 있는 노폐물 등을 밖으로 배출시켜주는 효과가 양호하여 피부미용에 효과가 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 실험에서는 중국유(中國柚)의 항산화활성과 총 폴리페놀 함량을 조사하였던 바, 과육보다 과피에서 폴리페놀 함량이 높게 나타났으며 항산화 활성도 과피에서 매우 양호한 결과를 나타내었다. 중국유(中國柚)의 품종별로 보면 과피가 두껍고 과육이 붉은색을 띈 품종에서 항산화 효과가 더 양호한 반응을 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 과육에 함유되어있는 안토시아닌의 함량의 차이인 것으로 생각된다. 특히 과피가 과육의 추출과정에서 에탄올보다 메탄올 추출물에서 더 양호한 결과를 보였다. 이러한 결과들로 미루어볼 때 중국유(中國柚)의 항산화 활성은 천연화장품의 신소재로서의 가치를 가지고 있다고 판단된다.

A Study on the Development of Electrophotographic Photoreceptor by Dye Sensitized System (II) (색소증감에 따른 전자사진 감광체 개발에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는기존의 보고에서 보다 감광화효율을 더욱 향상시키기 위하여 결정형이 다른 전하발생물질 (CGM:Charge Generation Material)과 전하수송물질(CTM:Charge Transport Material)을 사용하여 감광체를 만들었고, 이들의 정전특성을 비교검토하였다. 전하발생물질로서 결정형이 다른 $\alpha$-, $\beta$-, x-형 무금속 프탈로시아닌 (H$_{2}$Pc)을 사용한 결과, x-H$_{2}$Pc를 사용한 감광체의 감도는 E$_{1}$2/의 값이 2.62 $\mu$J/$\textrm{cm}^2$로 가장 두수하게 나타났다. 전하발생층(CGL:Charge Generation Layer)에 첨가되는 CGM-CTM, CGM-CTM-ZnO로 구성된 감광체보다 전하발생층에 전하발생계만으로 구성된 감광체의 경우의 전하유지율 (80%) 및 감도(E$_{1}$2/=2.83$\mu$J/$\textrm{cm}^2$)면에서 우수함을 보여주었다. 한편 binder로서 PVB-co-PVA-co-PVA$_{c}$[poly(viny1 butyral-co-viny1 alcohol-co-viny1 acetate)]를 사용했을 때는, CGM-CTM으로 구성된 감광체보다 CGL에 CGM-CTM으로 구성된 감광체의 경우의 전하유지율(71%) 및 감도(E$_{1}$2/=2.62$\mu$J/$\textrm{cm}^2$)면에서 우수함을 보여주었다.
