A Study on Networking Effects of Financial Leverage in Middle-Sized Hospitals (네트워크 병원의 경영성과에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, Korean medium-sized medical organizations require innovative strategies. Network-driven concerns in Korean medical organization have been a front burner issue to enhance economic and managerial efficiencies. Effective network-driven collaboration depends upon effective processes and economics strategies among medical providers group. From this motivation, we studied and provided the systems' theoretical background and networked hospital system structures. The aim of suggested research model in this paper is to overcome demerit of stand-alone medium-sized hospitals and analyze a system dynamics model to measure managerial performances. The developed system dynamics model is to quantify the effects of network strategy based on the historical financial data of real-life hospitals network experiences. The network effects are resulted in efficiencies and effectiveness enhancements in competitiveness through advertisement and effective education system. The simulations of system dynamics results can explain the improvement in financial outcome by joining in the network group. The network effects are shown more effective in dental hospital than other groups. In conclusion, it is expected that network effects have a critical influence of managerial, marketing, and medical collaboration performance for any type of medical hospitals.

An Analysis on the Container Terminal Operation by Considering the Key Factors for Fluctuating Container Traffic Volume (물동량 변동요인이 터미널 운영에 미치는 영향력 분석에 관한 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the container terminal operation by considering the key factors that fluctuates the container traffic volume using the System Dynamics (SD) method. The target area of this study is the 'A' container terminal which is located in the Port of Incheon and the simulation period is from 2004 to 2020. As evaluation indexes for container terminal operation, three factors such as 'total sales', 'operating ratio of C/Y' and 'operating ratio of G/C' are selected, and as for the key factors of fluctuating container traffic volume, 'variation ratio of world trade', 'variation ratio of trade among three countries in North-East Asia' and 'variation ratio of won-dollar rate are used. As of 2020, the result of this study is that import-export container traffic volume increases almost 880,000TEU and total sales and operating ratio of G/C each reach 7.1 bilion won and 65 percent. No changes however in loadage and operating ratio of C/Y in 'A' container terminal are indicated. The reason is that capability of C/Y is exceeded. Therefore this study suggest that decision-makers of 'A' container terminal realize the importance of additional space of C/Y.

A Study on the Improvement for Practical Application of Cultural Impact Assessment System (문화영향평가제도의 현실적 적용을 위한 개선방안 연구)

  • This study aims to analyze various issues and problems in the implementation process of cultural impact assessment in 2016. As a result of the analysis, it is found that the evaluation index of the cultural impact assessment is difficult to understand, and the referring data and materials in the evaluation planning phase in the process of the cultural impact assessment are deficient, and the evaluation planning is based on surveys rather than various methods. And there are some problems with evaluation scales and weighting, and they are focused on the evaluation itself rather than the feedback of the evaluation results. Therefore, this study suggests that, in the evaluation planning phase, the different methods of comparing the evaluation results according to the project execution, the project progress, and the completion time of the project should be adopted, and the project manager and the evaluation group participate developing the evaluation indicators together, and methodology for identifying causal relationship such as system dynamics will be adopted. In the stage of evaluation, it is necessary to introduce various methodology such as diverse residents participation, abundant case study, application of quantitative methodology, and the utilization of expert evaluation teams. In the evaluation feedback stage, it is necessary to provide thorough consulting based on the evaluation results.

Effects of Initial Responses in Steps for the Release Accidents of Hydrofluoric Acid (불산수용액 누출사고에 대한 초기대응 단계별 영향)

  • As hazardous chemicals are releasing in process industries such as chemical & petro-chemical plants, the importance of initial responses has been always emphasized. However, little attention of quantitative analysis of the consequence by different initial responses during releasing of the chemicals has been done. The main objective of current paper is to investigate the effects of initial responses for the release accidents of hydrofluoric acid. For this, a simplified equation that can easily calculate the effect distance by varying concentrations of hydrofluoric acid was firstly deduced. In addition, a causal loops for the initial response steps using the system dynamics technique was constructed during release of 50% hydrofluoric acid. The effect distances according to different scenarios of the initial actions were also quantitatively analyzed by applying the simplified equation to the causal map. As a result, the highest reduction rate on the maximum effect distance was obtained with 'start time of action after leak detection' being about 87% while the lowest was 'arrival time of professional response team' being about 50%, as expected. It is expected that the results gained from the current study can be helpful as of basics of the initial response to the workplace, dealing with the hydrofluoric acid.

An Estimation of the Change in Transshipment Traffic in Northeast Asia using the System Dynamics (SD기법에 의한 한.중.일 환적물동량 변화량 추정에 관한 연구)

  • Transshipment traffic has significant meanings because it gives positive effects on increasing the container handling volumes in seaports, and revitalizes the regional and national development. Korean container port's transshipment traffic volumes, however, will slowly decrease due to the direct ships' calling into Chinese ports, which recently has a huge development plan. There are a lot of stress on forecasting the transshipment traffic volumes because the Korean container port development plans are designed based on this container traffic which consists of import and export traffic, and transshipment traffic. The transshipment traffic volumes are assumed to occupy 40% of total container traffic volumes. Despite of the importance of forecasting the transshipment traffic, a little studies are suggested using the concepts of the port competitiveness. In this respect, this study aims to estimate the Port Competitiveness Index and Transshipment traffic Volumes using the System Dynamics methodology. As a result, transshipment traffic volumes are predicted as: 20 million TEUs in Korea under the 4% annual increasing rates, 90 million TEUs in China under the 6% annual increasing rates, and 2.5 million TEUs in Japan under the 1% annual increasing rates respectively. The suggested results can be used to enhance the container port competitiveness and produce more transshipment traffic volumes.
