Development and application of simulator for spotlight SAR image formation and quality assesment using RMA (RMA를 이용한 Spotlight SAR 영상형성 및 품질평가를 위한 시뮬레이터 개발 및 구현)

  • Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is widely used because of high resolution imaging capability in all weather and day/night condition. In this paper development of Spotlight SAR simulator is proposed for image quality analysis. Proposed SAR simulator is based on the SAR system design parameters so that SAR image performance can be expected which is essential throughout the full system development procedure from the initial concept design stage to the final in-flight calibration and validation stage. The raw data of ideal point target is first generated by taking account of the flight and imaging geometry and the various SAR system design parameters, and the Spotlight image formation algorithm is implemented in order to obtain the point target response. Finally the image quality of the generated raw data is analyzed in terms of spatial resolution, peak to sidelobe ratio and integrated sidelobe ratio.

국내 공항 주변환경에서의 전리층 폭풍이 항공용 지역위성항법 보강시스템에 미치는 영향 및 비행 시험을 통한 Code-Carrier Divergence Test 결과 분석

  • 항공용 지역위성항법 보강시스템(Ground Based Augmentation System, GBAS)은 지상에서 위성항법시스템에 대한 위치보정정보와 무결성 정보를 생성 및 제공하여 공항 주변 항공기의 정밀 이착륙을 돕는 지상기반의 시스템이다. 이 시스템은 기본적으로 위성항법신호를 사용하기 때문에 전리층 영향을 받게 되는데 특히 전리층 폭풍(Ionospheric storm)의 경우 공간적으로 급격한 위치오차 차이를 발생시키기 때문에 안정적인 항공기의 정밀이착륙을 위해서는 전리층 폭풍의 영향을 최소화 하는 것이 중요하다. 이를 위하여 현재 항공용 지역위성항법 보강시스템의 지상시스템(Ground Facility)과 항공기 탑재시스템에서의 전리층 폭풍에 대한 정확한 감시와 전리층 폭풍의 지배적 영향을 받는 위상항법신호를 제거하거나 보완하는 방식 등 전리층 폭풍의 영향을 최소화하기 위한 기법들이 계속해서 연구 중이다. 이 논문에서는 2001년과 2003년 미국에서 발생한 전리층 폭풍에 대한 위성항법데이터 분석 결과와 기존의 연구결과를 기반으로 전리층 폭풍에 대한 모델링과 지상시스템과 항공기 간의 공간적 상이현상(Spacial decorrelation)을 고려하여 전리층 폭풍이 항공기 이착륙에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석 결과를 제시한다. 전리층 폭풍에 대한 수학적 모델링을 하기 위해서는 전리층 폭풍의 물리적 특성에 대한 이해와 전리층 폭풍 발생 시 획득한 위성항법 데이터를 이용한 통계학적 분석이 선행되며 이러한 분석결과와 항공기 이착륙에 절차를 반영하여 항공기에 미치는 영향 분석을 위한 수학적 모델을 완성하였다. 완성된 모델을 국내 공항에서 실제 비행시험을 통하여 획득한 위성항법데이터에 적용하여 전리층 폭풍이 국내 공항에서 항공기 이착륙에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 또한, 대표적 전리층 폭풍 감지기법 중 하나인 Code-Carrier Divergence Test 알고리즘을 적용한 결과도 함께 제시하였다. 이 논문의 결과는 항공용 지역위성항법 보강시스템에 대한 전리층 폭풍의 영향을 최소화하기 위한 기법 연구의 기반이 되며 시스템의 성능평가를 위한 다양한 시뮬레이션환경의 하나로서도 활용이 가능할 것이다.

Control of the Third Harmonics Injected PWM Inverter in Over Modulation Mode (과변조 영역에서의 3고조파 주입형 PWM 인버터 제어)

  • A method to control the inverter output voltage lineally in over modulation mode of the third harmonics injected PWM inverter is proposed. The third harmonics injected PWM has a extended linear region compared with the sine PWM. But it still has a maximum voltage about 90% compared with the six step inverter. Therefore, to control the output voltage linearly in over modulation mode, analyzing the relationship between the modulation index and the peak of the fundamental component of the modified reference voltage, we can settle the problem in over modulation mode without iteration. Then we can increase the maximum fundamental component of the third harmonics injected PWM inverter comparative to six-step inverter continuously in over modulation mode. The simulation results of the inverter-induction motor system shows the validity of this method and experimental results prove it.

  • In the present, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) that wireless access scheme for high speed data transmission is noticed in mobile communication market and OFDMA/TDD scheme will be used combining Time Division Duplex (TDD) scheme based on OFDMA. The Base Station's receiver synchronizes the symbol timing to anyone user's symbol and the other user's symbols have some Symbol Timing Offset (STO). Linear phase shift is occurred by each user's STO in an OFDMA symbol and the Multiple Access Interference (MAI) caused by the summation of each user's linear phase shift degrades the performance of ranging code detection. In this paper, we analyze the ranging code detection performance for each users STO in OFDMA/TDD system. Simulation results show that the more users access and mobile speed increase, the more ranging code detection performance degrades.

  • It has well known that MUSIC and ESPRIT algorithms estimate angle of arrival(AOA) with high resolution by eigenvalue decomposition of the covariance matrix which were obtained from the array antennas, However, the disadvantage of MUSIC and ESPRIT is that they are computationally ineffective, and then they are difficult to implement in real time. the other problem of MUSIC and ESPRIT is to require calibrated antennas with uniform features, and are sensitive ti the manufacturing fault and other physical uncertainties. To overcome these disadvantages, several method using neural model have been study. For multiple signals, those methods require huge training data prior to AOA estimation. This paper proposes the algorithm for AOA estimation by interconnected Hopfield neural model. Computer simulations show the validity of the proposed algorithm. It follows that the proposed method yields better AOA estimates than MUSIC. Moreover, out method does not require huge training procedure and only assigns interconnected coefficients to the neural network prior to AOA estimation.

A Comparison Study on Statistical Modeling Methods (통계모델링 방법의 비교 연구)

  • The statistical modeling of input random variables is necessary in reliability analysis, reliability-based design optimization, and statistical validation and calibration of analysis models of mechanical systems. In statistical modeling methods, there are the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), AIC correction (AICc), Bayesian Information Criterion, Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE), and Bayesian method. Those methods basically select the best fitted distribution among candidate models by calculating their likelihood function values from a given data set. The number of data or parameters in some methods are considered to identify the distribution types. On the other hand, the engineers in a real field have difficulties in selecting the statistical modeling method to obtain a statistical model of the experimental data because of a lack of knowledge of those methods. In this study, commonly used statistical modeling methods were compared using statistical simulation tests. Their advantages and disadvantages were then analyzed. In the simulation tests, various types of distribution were assumed as populations and the samples were generated randomly from them with different sample sizes. Real engineering data were used to verify each statistical modeling method.

  • In general, there are many sensors for fuel injection control such as an air flow sensor, an air intake temperature sensor, a cooling water temperature sensor, a throttle position sensor, and a motor position sensor. In this paper, we proposed a method for controlling the amount of fuel consumption in cars using fuzzy control technique by temperature change of an air intake temperature sensor and air-fuel ratio, the ratio of air and fuel mixture. In the proposed method, the amount of fuel injection is controlled by fuzzy membership functions and fuzzy inference rules established for air-fuel ratio, air intake temperature, and final fuel compensation, after computing air-fuel values using each amount of air intake and each amount of fuel injection. We verified that the proposed method is more efficient than conventional methods in fuel injection control from the results of the simulation program.

  • In this paper, we introduce the design and implementation of satellite IP modem. The designed satellite IP modem shows the performance of 0.2% overhead, BER=10-5 when Eb/No=6dB, frequency offset of 8KHz, data rate up to 1536Kbps, $F_{if}=140MHz$. The designed system is verified through software simulation and then implemented with MPC86x communication processor, TMS320C6416 DSP, and Altera FPGA. Since each hardware unit is implemented in daughter board for modularity, we can reduce the development time and easily improve the performance with using better processor. Linux is used for embedded OS because it shows better performance in IP manipulation multitask processing, and hardware control through device driver. The implemented system is tested and verified with channel simulator. Since the proposed IP modem shows small size and light weight, that can be used anywhere with easy if you need IP environment.

Design of Omni-directional Reflector for Synthetic Aperture Radar (합성개구레이더용 전방향 반사기의 설계)

  • Basic research is conducted to identify a target using corner reflectors which are commonly used in calibration of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems. At first, an omni-directional reflector is fabricated by combining four 15-cm rectangular trihedral corner reflectors. Then, its radar cross section (RCS) characteristics are measured at C-band (5.3 GHz) for vv-, hh-, hv-, and vh- polarizations at a range of horizontal angle, $-90^{\circ}{\le}{\phi}{\le}90^{\circ}$. The measured RCS angular variation of the omni-directional reflector is much smaller for vv-polarization than other polarizations, and the difference between the maximum and minimum RCSs for vv-polarization is about 8 dB. Peak RCS values are shown at $0^{\circ}$ (normal to plates) and $45^{\circ}$ (direction of bore sight). It is shown that the measurements agree quite well with numerical simulation and theoretical computation results.

Design of Fractional-N Digital PLL for IoT Application (IoT 어플리케이션을 위한 분수분주형 디지털 위상고정루프 설계)

  • This paper presents a dual-loop sub-sampling digital PLL for a 2.4 GHz IoT applications. The PLL initially performs a divider-based coarse lock and switches to a divider-less fine sub-sampling lock. It achieves a low in-band phase noise performance by enabling the use of a high resolution time-to-digital converter (TDC) and a digital-to-time converter (DTC) in a selected timing range. To remove the difference between the phase offsets of the coarse and fine loops, a phase offset calibration scheme is proposed. The phase offset of the fine loop is estimated during the coarse lock and reflected in the coarse lock process, resulting in a smooth transition to the fine lock with a stable fast settling. The proposed digital PLL is designed by SystemVerilog modeling and Verilog-HDL and fully verified with simulations.
