Measurement of Absorption and Scattering Coefficients of Biological Tissues by Time-Resolved Reflectance Method (시간 분해 반사율에 의한 생체조직의 흡수계수와 산란계수 측정)

  • A non-invasive technique to measure absorption and scattering coefficients was investigated The reflected backscattered light from the surface of phantom and biological tissue was obtained by using a time-correlated single photon counting system in pico-second time domain. The absorption and scattering coefficients were acquired by the time of peak and asymptotic behavior of the time-resolved reflectance curve and agreed well the ones that is obtained with deconvolution method It was found that the approximation method was good for biological medium to calculate optical properties due to its convenience and accuracy.

A Study on Accuracy of Position Fixes Obtained by GPS at Three Fixed Stations (정점(定點)에 있어서 GSP의 측위정도(測位精度))

  • The United States has been developing a GPS(Global Positoning System), and now we can make use of it everywhere in the world. The author measured the usable time and took position fixes from three fixed stations in Japan in order to evaluate the positioning accuracy of GPS, firstly by the difference in the time of the year and, secondly by the difference in location between the stations in 1988. I was able to receive positioning signals from only 6 or 7 satellites, but in July 1991, 14 GPS satellites became available. The results obtained are summerized as follows: 1) The usable time was 7~9 hours from only 6~7 satellites. 2) In the case of the former, the time zone of position fixes varied with the time of the year and there were a little differences of the accuracy of position fixes except 3H(three dimensiomal high level positioning). In the case of the latter, there were not obvious locality differences in 3D(three dimensional positioning). But the positioning errors and number of data varied on each level in 2D(two dimensiomal positioning), although the positioning errors were smaller than 0.1 nautical mile. 3) Th standard deviations of Dep(departure) were larger than tat of D.lat(difference of latitude), and varied widely to the east and west. But the standard deviations were smaller than 100 meters.

Evaluation of Angiotensin -I- Converting Enzyme Inhibitory Activity and Protein Changes of Enzymatic Hydrolysate Extracted from Hanwoo Loin and Round Myosin B (한우 등심과 우둔에서 추출한 Myosin B의 효소적 가수분해물의 단백질 변화와 Angiotensin -I- Converting Enzyme(ACE) 저해효과)

  • This study was performed to determine the protein profiles using sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and Angiotensin-I-converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitory activity (IC50) as affected by the various meat cuts, digestion times with pepsin. Hydrolysates having the protein concentration of 10 ug/mL had approximately 36∼39% ACE inhibitory activities, regardless of meat cut and digestion time. Protein concentration and ACE inhibitory activity of the diluted hydrolysate increased after 1-hr digestion. In original hydrolysates, ACE inhibitory activities of loin had higher than those of round (P<0.05). In addition, non-heated hydrolysates had higher ACE inhibitory activities than heated counterparts. When myosin B was digested by pepsin more than 1 hr, improved ACE inhibitory activities were observed as compared to the non-digested control.

Optimal conditions of enzymatic hydrolysis for producing anti-inflammatory peptides from sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus) hydrolysate (도루묵 가수분해물 유래 항염증 펩타이드 제조를 위한 효소 가수분해 최적 조건)

  • In this study, the hydrolysis conditions for the production of anti-inflammatory peptides from meat and roe hydrolysates of sandfish (Arctoscopus japonicus) were determined by measuring the nitric oxide (NO) scavenging enzymatic activity, experimental pH, temperature, enzyme concentration, and hydrolysis time. The optimal conditions determined when using meat hydrolysate were a pH value of 5.0, at a temperature of $30^{\circ}C$, 1% enzyme concentration, and 4 h hydrolysis time. The optimal conditions when using roe hydrolysate were a pH of 5.0, a temperature of $70^{\circ}C$, enzyme concentration of 3%, and hydrolysis time of 3 h. The NO scavenging activities of meat and roe hydrolysate were determined to be 18.94 and 19.81%, respectively. In summary, this study determined the optimum enzymatic hydrolysis conditions for the production of anti-inflammatory peptides from sandfish.

The three-dimensional temporal behavior measurement of light emitted from plasma display panel by the Scanned Point-Detecting System (Scanned Point-Detecting System을 이용한 플라즈마 디스플레이 패널에서 방출되는 광의 3차원 시간 분해 측정)

  • We measure the 3-dimensional temporal behavior of the light emitted from the discharge cell of a plasma display panel (PDP) by using a scanned point detecting system. The light signal detected by a PM tube is sent to the oscilloscope, and the oscilloscope is connected to a PC with GPIB. From the resultant temporal behaviors, we could analyze the discharge characteristics of the panel with a Ne-Xe (4%) mixing gas at a 400 torr pressure. The top view of the panel shows that discharge moves from the inner edge of the cathode electrode to the outer cathode electrode, forming an arc shape. The side view of the panel shows that the light is detected up to 150 $\mu\textrm{m}$ up the barrier rib. After a trigger pulse is applied, peak intensity is detected at 730 ns and peak intensity position is located at the center of the ITO electrodes.

  • 종래에 많이 사용된 각양의 계측 방법을 일일이 설명하는 것은 본 해설의 목적이 아니기 때문에 개략적으로 분류하여 설명하면 다음과 같다. 1) 시간 평균유속은 주로 프로브(probe)를 경유하여 동압과 정압의 측정에 의하여 수행되어 왔다. 연소반응이 있으면 밀도의 변화가 있게 되는데 밀도는 후술하는 농도의 계측과 온도의 계측에 의하여 정해져 동압과 정압으로부터 유속으로 변환된다. 시간분해능이 높은 비접촉식(직접 프 로브를 측정부에 삽입하지 않는 방법) 유속측정이 가능한 방법으로는 레이저 도플러 유속계 (Laser Doppler Velocimetry, 이하 LDV로 표현)를 들 수 있다. LDV는 압력측정에 의한 유속 산출법에서와 같은 온도 및 농도 등의 부수적인 계측이 필요없이, 직접 유속을 검출할 수 있으며 또한 검정이 필요없는 절대유속 측정이 가능하며 현재 연소반응이 있는 흐름에 대한 대부분의 연구에 적용되고 있는 실정이다. 2) 시간평균 화학종 농도측정에 가장 많이 쓰이는 방법은, 연소가스를 채취하여 가스 크로마토 그라프(Gas Chromatograph)로 분석하는 것을 들 수 있다. 한편, 시간 분해능이 높은 화학종 농 도의 계측은 레이저를 사용하여 각 화학종의 발광, 산란 및 흡수성을 이용, 측정한다. 3) 온도측정은 대부분 열전대를 사용하고 있다. 그러나 이 방법은 직접 프로브를 삽입해야 하므로 사용한계의 범위가 지극히 좁으며, 연소반응이 일어나므로 프로브 자체의 촉매반응 및 복사 열전달에 의한 보정 등이 사용상 큰 문제로 제기된다. 그러나 최근 레이저 이용기술의 발달로 (2)항에서의 농도 계측과 같이 반응기체의 온도 및 성분의 동시측정이 가능한 방법도 점차 현 실화 되어가고 있다. 그 대표적인 예로 CARS법(Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy)을 들 수 있다. 이상으로부터 연소반응이 일어나는 흐름에서의 각종 계측에서는, 비접촉 측정의 가능성과 시간 공간 분해능의 특징으로 미루어 앞으로는 레이저를 이용한 계측 방법이 그 주류를 이룰 것으로 사료된다. 우선 본 해설은 기체의 온도 및 농도의 광학적 측정방법중 Raman산란광 검출법에 대하여 실제로 측정하는 입장에서 간단히 소개한다.

장내 가수분해조건에 의한 Casein 가수분해물의 Angiotensin Converting Enzyme 저해 효과

  • 장내 단백질 가수분해효소에 의한 casein 분해산물들의 ACE 저해 활성을 비교하기 위하여 인공위액, 인공장액 및 인공위액과 장액 연속처리를 각각 반응조건으로 일정시간 casein을 가수분해한 후 각 효소 가수분해물이 혈압상승 peptide 생성효소인 Angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)에 대한 저해활성을 측정하였다. 각 소화액에 따른 가수분해물은 모두 ACE 저해활성을 나타내었으며, 2시간 효소처리를 하였을 때, 인공위액, 인공장액, 인공위액과 장액 가수분해물은 각각 69%, 80% 및 88%로 최대 ACE 저해활성을 보였다. 그리고 casein의 가수분해 정도를 확인하기 위한 SDS-PAGE에서는 인공위액으로 처리한 군보다 인공장액으로 처리한 군이 더 작은 분자량으로 분해되는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 인공위액과 장액을 함께 처리한 군에서는 1시간 안에 대부분의 분해가 이루지는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다.

The Study on the Dilution Time of Radioactive Tracer in Estradiol Measurement (Estradiol 검사 시 방사성 추적자의 희석시간에 대한 고찰)

  • Purpose Estradiol (E2) is a steroid hormone mainly produced in women and is a useful indicator for diagnosis of gynecological diseases, menstrual cycle, menopause, and precocious puberty. E2 measurement is performed by diluting the $^{125}I$ radioactive tracer and tracer buffer in the kit. However, It was not precisely specified when the period of tracer is available after activating. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate dilution time based on the measurement value with dilution time. Materials and Methods From December 2016 to February 2017, 60 E2 samples with concentrations ranging from 8 to 4577 pg/mL were divided into low, medium, and high concentrations. Dilution of the $^{125}I$ tracer was performed on a 230 RPM agitator for 30 minutes, 1 hour 30 minutes, and 2 hours 30 minutes, respectively. 24 hour dilution was gently shaken and refrigerated. To verify the difference and significance of the results according to the dilution time, a test of normality was performed using SPSS 18.0 and analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test. The measured value according to the dilution time was compared with the interquartile range of the absolute error. Results The results of Kruskal-Wallis test were not significant (P>0.05). Measurement results are showed as interquartile range of absolute error. At low concentration, it is 0.052 between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes, and 0.105 between 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes. At medium concentration, 0.062 between 30 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes, and 0.038 between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes. At high concentration, it is 0.029 between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes, and 0.06 between 2 hours 30 minutes and 24 hours. Conclusion There were no statistically significant differences. However, the change in the measured value is the smallest between 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes. Therefore, we recommend diluting time between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes.

Refractive Power Changes after Removal of Contact Lenses (콘택트렌즈를 임시 제거한 상태에서의 착용 조건에 따른 굴절력 변화)

  • Purpose: To evaluate the changes of refractive power when worn soft contact lenses were temporarily removed. Methods: 91 soft contact lens wearers (15 males and 76 females; total 182 eyes) from 17 to 39 years of age (average: $24{\pm}4.8$ years) were participated. Objective and subjective refraction, and corneal radius were measured at 0, 30, 60 and 90 min after lens removal. The changes in refractive power were evaluated between measurements over time. The other parameters such as types of lenses, fitting and wearing conditions were also assessed. Results: Objective refraction, subjective refraction and corneal radius were significantly changed according to measured time (p<0.0001). A moderate myopic shifts was observed at the beginning (30 min after lens removal) and a slight myopic shift at the late of measurement (60 min to 90 min after lens removal). There are no significant differences between lens types, fitting states, wearing time, wearing days and sleeping time in the previous day. However, there was significant interaction in changes for corneal radius between measuring time and lens type (p=0.017), fitting state (p=0.019), and sleeping time prior to the test (p=0.010). Conclusions: Time to reach refractive and corneal radius stability after contact lens removal revealed at least more than 60 min, regardless of types of lenses, fitting and wearing conditions. Therefore, refraction for correction should be performed after waiting for more than that time as possible.

Construction and Performance Characterization of Time-correlated Single Photon Counting System having Picosecond Resolution (피코초 분해능의 시간 상관 단광자 계수 장치 구성 및 동작 특성)

  • Picosecond time-correlated single photon counting system and time-resolved luminescence spectrometer were constructed, employing a mode-locked picosecond laser, fast electronics, and microchannel plate tube. It has been shown that the instrument response function critically depends on laser pulse shape, timing jitter and walk of the electronics, and characteristics of detector and amplifier. Correcting time dispersion in the optical system, the best instrument response function obtained appears to be 25 ps, which made it possible to measure the luminescence lifetime with less than 10 ps resolution in the picosecond to microsecond range. range.
