  • 식품의 맛은 미각, 후각, 시각, 청각, 촉각에서 느낀 여러 가지 인상과 개인의 경험이나 기호가 복합적으로 적용되어 인식된다. 특히 맛을 결정하는 영향 요인 중에서 시각을 통해 인지하는 색은 실제 맛을 지각하기 전에 맛에 대한 이미지를 연상시킴으로써, 식품 선택에 결정적인 영향을 준다. 따라서 식품색을 적용함에 있어 식품 자체의 맛 이미지를 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 색을 활용함으로써, 소비자들이 좀더 관능적으로 선호할 수 있는 식품을 개발할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구에서는 소비자들이 특정 식품을 선택하여 구매하고자 할 때 인지하게 되는 맛 이미지를 효과적으로 전달하기 위한 도구로서 색채를 사용하기 위해 사례연구를 진행하였다. 사례연구는 초콜릿색에서 연상되는 맛에 관한 웹 설문을 통해 진행되었다. 설문 결과를 바탕으로 식품색에서 연상하게 되는 맛에 영향을 주는 요인을 추출하고, 초콜릿 맛의 종류와 느낌의 정도에 따른 주요 색채의 경향성을 도출함으로써 시각을 이용하여 보다 정확하게 초콜릿 맛의 공감각적 특성을 전달하기 위한 기초자료를 제안하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 물리적 버튼이 존재하지 않는 평면방식의 스마트 기기를 시각 장애인이 기존 음성 인식 기반의 문자 입력 방식 대비 3배 이상 빠른 속도로 문자를 입력할 수 있는 제스처 기반 가상 문자 입력 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방식의 원리는 스마트폰의 터치화면을 8개 방향으로 설정하고 사용자의 드래그 동작에 따른 입력값의 초기위치와 중앙점, 드래그 형태 등을 이용하여 숫자, 영문, 한글, 특수기호 등을 입력하거나, 스마트기기의 다양한 응용 프로그램들을 자연스럽게 제어하고 동작시킬 수 있는 제스처 기반의 문자입력 방법이다. 실제 시각장애인의 필드 테스트를 통해 제안하는 방식의 효율성을 입증해보인다.

A discursive approach to analysis of definition of graph in first year middle school textbooks (담론적 관점(discursive approach)에서 중1 수학 교과서의 그래프 정의 분석)

  • In order to analyze textbooks from a discursive approach, the purpose of this study is to structuralize an analytic framework based on previous literature review and apply it to analyzing the meanings and their syntheses developed by words and visual mediators appeared in the definition of graph in first-year middle school textbooks. The discursive approach consists of the communicational approach developed by Sfard(2008) and the systemic functional linguistics developed by Halliday(1985/2004). In this study, ideational meta-functions for ideational meanings and interpersonal meta-functions for interpersonal meanings were employed to analyze the meanings produced by words and visual mediators in textbooks, whereas textual meta-functions for textual meanings were used for analyzing the synthesized relationships between words and visual mediators. Results show that first, density in mathematical discourse was very high and subjects in mathematical activities were ambiguous in the ideational meanings of words, and behavior aspect was more emphasized than thinking aspect in the interpersonal meanings of words which request student participations. In the case of ideational meanings of visual mediators, there was a lack of narrative diagrams, whereas there were qualitative differences in the case of offer. Second, there was a need for promoting a wide range of diverse synthetic relationships between words and visual mediators for developing enriched mathematical meanings through the varying uses like specification, explanation, similarity, and complement. These results are so important that they provide a new analytic framework from a discursive approach to textbook analysis because not only words, but also visual mediators are analyzed as tools for producing meanings in mathematics textbooks and their synthetic relationships are also examined.

Analysis of the Type, Function, and Structure of Inscriptions in Middle School Science Textbooks: Focus on Earth Science Content of the 7th National Curriculum (중학교 과학 교과서에 사용된 시각자료의 유형, 기능 및 구조 분석: 제7차 교육과정 지구과학 내용을 중심으로)

  • Inscriptions are integral parts of the current science textbooks, and become medium that makes sense of scientific concepts effectively. This study analyzed the inscriptions from five science textbooks at the secondary level in terms of its type, function, and structures. Analyzing types of inscriptions resulted that the ratio of frequently used photographs and illustrations were much higher than that of graphs and tables used. In case of function analysis, illustrative and complementary functions were dominant in terms of frequency and ratio, whereas explanatory, decorative and inquisitive functions were relatively rare. Inscriptions of single structure was much more than multiple structure. Multiple structure of pair and series were mainly used for representing contrast and sequence, respectively. The proportion of inscriptions in type, function and structure across the textbooks was significantly different. Based on the results, it was suggested that semiotic study about the function and the structure of inscriptions need to be carried out in earth science area to better understand the pedagogical implications of inscriptions in school science.

  • By analyzing abstract book cover design, this study aims to examine the applicability of the semiotic methodology of Roland Barthes and to conduct a preference survey of how people would accept it. The selected books for the study are and published in Openbooks publishing company to mark the 30th anniversary of the opening. The research results are as follows. First, it was confirmed that Roland Barthes' semiotic approach is a suitable tool for identifying the symbolic phenomena of visual elements that constitute abstract book cover design. Second, people were well informed of what the abstract form of design conveys, but they showed personal differences in preference, making it difficult to achieve clear results. This study, together with the importance of the internal meaning that appears in the book cover design, gives graphic designers an indication that interaction between the communicator and the acceptor should be sought.

A Comparative Analysis of the Calligrams of Apollinaire, Paul Eluard, and Lee Sang (아폴리네르, 폴 엘뤼아르, 이상(LEE Sang) 시의 상형적 시어 비교분석)

  • This study presents a comparative analysis of the calligrammic poetic dictions shown in the poems of the French poets Guillaume Apollinaire and Paul Eluard and in those of the Korean poet Lee Sang. They were adventurers in the avant-garde movement who used experimental techniques that led to futurism, expressionism, cubism, dadaism, and surrealism. They applied a typographic technique that combined pictorial arrangements of fonts, shapes of compositions and between lines, letters of the alphabet, mathematical symbols, and graphical elements, such as circles or lines, to make up a poem that also looked like a painting. Their works, valued as visual lyric poems, break up language and combine anti-poems. They rejected traditional poetic dictions or grammar, but developed a paratactic poem that freely uses letters and symbols. Their calligrammic poetic dictions arouse dynamic images like space extension. Lee Sang's calligrams seem like abstract paintings that apply geometric symbols like those used in technical drawings. As a result, crossing the boundaries between language and pictorial art by using experimental materials and techniques, their poems deconstruct the creative standards of rational and traditional poetic dictions, creating an adventurous, expressive technique. Their calligrammic, avant-garde poems introduced a new spirit of art into both French and Korean modern poetic literature.

Unconscious Signs in Visual Signification of Lacan's Metaphor (라캉 은유의 시각적 의미작용을 통한 무의식적 기호 연구)

  • The universe of discourse presented in the visual image is bound up with the experience and culture of parties; its sender and recipient. Signification of visual message is revealed through the mutual independent process. The mechanism where production of signifiant by sender and reception of metaphoric signifiant function unconsciously can be applied to Lacan's theory;"The unconscious is structured like a language". By applying Lacan's metaphoric formula which takes linguistic approach to visual image it is suggested that analysis of signification is possible. This analysis can be a base for seeking varied level of signifiant presented in visual metaphor logically and practically. Metaphoric structure of the signifiant and the matrix analysis can develop a creative idea and propose a practical way for the visual image production. Thus empirical study about nastic response and the future analysis result is expected to be possible.

  • In comparison with the acquirement of knowledge by expression of symbol or numerical formula, the experience based knowledge acquirement give stable and clear understanding of information to a learner. Various educational systems based on computer such as virtual reality, intelligent learning system, visualization of concept, simulation-based system, and microworld have so far been developed. In this paper, a method of two dimensional visualization of a physical law by simulation has been suggested to educate a learner. Especially, learning the law of gravity by simulation based educational method gives a learner indirect experience that enhance the efficiency of knowledge acquirement clearly. The visualization methods of a real-time physical law and a virtual anomalies' physical law by simulation are proposed in this paper to deliver information or knowledge clearly. Then we show that a learner can acquire some knowledge effectively by the proposed method.

한국 서체문자미술의 흐름과 디자인마케팅에 관한 고찰

  • 국제적 미술 양식이면서 동양적 요소를 갖추고 있는 서체 문자마술을 통하여 우리 미술문화의 현재와 새로운 가능성을 찾아보았다. 서체 문자미술을 이루고 있는 기호인 한자와 한글을 우리 조상들이 생활 속에서 계속 사용하여 왔으며 나아가 조선에 이르러서는 민화에서 문자그림을 나타내고 있다. 현대에 들어서면서 우리의 이름 있는 작가들과 후학들이 서체에서 나타나는 문자를 이용하여 작품세계를 빛내고 있다. 현대미술의 서체적인 문자그림들의 평가와 그 가능성을 밝히고 디자인마케팅에 있어서 시각적인 학습과 기억에의 서체문자 미술의 활용에 대해 고찰하며, 특히 한국미술에 있어 서체적인 문자그림의 전통성과 현대미술에서의 표현을 통하여 서체 문자그림이 동시대 한국 미술문화를 이루는데 한 축을 이루고 있음을 밝히면서, 한국 서체 문자미술이 디자인마케팅에의 시각적 표현활용에 대해 언급하고 있다.
