  • Forging of trapezoidal spline, serration and square spline with solid cylindrical billets and hollow one has been investigated by means of upper bound method. Kinematically admissible velocity fields for forging of splines have been proposed in this study. The half pitch of splines has been divided into deformation regons. The neutral surface is introduced into forging of splines with flat punch and, for each step, it is assumed as a circle with its radius rn upper bound solutions obtained obtained by proposed kinematically admissible velocity fields are useful to predict the loads for forging of splines.

비회전 대칭 단면 형상의 스플라인 인발 공정에 관한 연구 (A study on the drawing of spline shaped section with non-rotary symmetry)

  • During the drawing of reentrant section like a spline, the unfilled in the corner of dies or the bended product emerges from the large reduction of area, the complex shaped sections and other nonuniform properties in material and lubrication conditions. In this study, the drawing of the spline section with the non-rotary symmetry from a circular aluminum billet has been analyzed by using commercial code DEFORM-3D. A new die construction method preventing the spline from the drawback of bending and the unfilled defect has been suggested and verified through the analysis using centroid shift method and the hybrid construction between converged and diverged profile.

  • 최근 생산 현장에서의 CAD/CAM 등을 통한 자동화 확대와 더불어 이에필요한 설계 및 가공시스템의 수요도 증가하고 있다. 그러나 국내에서 사용중인 기계 및 관련 분야의 CAD/CAM 시스템은 대부분이 외국 제품이다. 근래 국내 몇몇 업체에서 독자 적인 제품을 보급하고 있으나 아직도 저조한 실정이다. 더우기 이들 제품의 대부분도 기본적인 핵심 기술 및 이론은 외국의 것을 도입한 경우가 많다. 그러므로 현재 설계 및 가공시스템의 국산화가 매우 절실하며, 또한 기본 배경이 되는 기하 라이 브러리와 모델링 엔진의 개발이 시급히 요구된다.

양형 IMS 모듈 튜블러 샤프트의 스플라인 가공 개선 (Improvement of Tubular Shaft Yoke Spline Machining in Both Side IMS Module)

  • The objective of this study is to solve a problem that is occurred during the spline machining of tubular shaft yoke in both side IMS module. In order to simulate the problem, the movement direction of upper die was set as standard case and error case. The material of tubular shaft yoke was set to S20C as refer to the analysis library. The movement directions of upper die were separated with standard case and error case. The error case was set to simulate the problem in the spline machining of tubular shaft yoke. In order to solve the problem, the outer radius of upper die were modelled from 9.40mm to 9.44mm. The simulation results were analyzed and compared in terms of effective stress, metal flow line and folding phenomena characteristics. In case of the outer radius of upper die was 9.42mm, it was observed a relatively uniform effective stress distribution and had a straight metal flow line.

내부 스플라인의 후방압출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Backward Extrusion of Internal Spline)

  • Spline is a machine component using transmits rotating energy with grooves on internal of boss and external periphery of shaft. Internal spline is generally produced by machining process. However, to reduce manufacturing cost and save time, plastic deformation process such as backward extrusion is gradually adapted for spline production. In plastic deformation process, forming load, stress on tools and flow flaws should be taken into account to have sound products. For this purpose, kinematically admissible velocity fields for Upper Bound Method in backward extrusion of internal spline has been suggested, then forming load and relative pressure have been calculated. Internal spline forming experiments have been con-ucted under hydraulic press and the calculated forming load well predicts the load of experiment.

스플라인형상 인발을 위한 중간패스 단면형상 설계 (Design of Intermediate Die for Spline Drawing)

  • The cross section shape of intermediate die is one of important parameters to obtain dimensional accuracy of final product in shaped drawing process. Until now it has been designed by the experience or trial and error of the expert. In this study, the cross section shape of intermediate die fur spline shape is determined by the electronic field analysis, shape factor method. The result of the electronic field analysis, shape factor method has been compared with that of the present method. The effects of cross section shape on the dimensional accuracy were investigated by using FE analysis. And then the multi-stage shaped drawing experiments were performed to verify the results of FE analysis. As a result, the cross section shape from the electronic field analysis had the good dimensional accuracy. The electronic field analysis can be used for the method to obtain the cross section shape of intermediate die in shaped drawing process.

  • To construct the extrusion die surface, a B-Spline surface scheme based on the cubic B-Spline curve interpolation method is proposed in the present work. The inlet and outlet profiles are described with B-Spline curves by using the centripetal method for uniform parameterization. The interior control points of surface are generated using the derivative characteristics of B-Spline curve. A complete B-Spline surface is constructed by using appropriate coordinate transformation and knot deletion. In the present study, a quantitative measure for the control of surface is suggested by introducing the tangential vector and inclination angles at the inlet and outlet sections. To verify the validity of the proposed method, automatic surface generation is carried out for the various types of extrusion die surface.

  • In this paper, the cold extrusion process for internal spline forming using a thin and long tube has been analyzed by using a rigid plastic finite element code. The internal spline consists of 10 tooths. The cold extrusion process has been focused on the comparisions of load-stroke relation and filling states of the teeth according to design parameters. The design parameters involve extrusion ratio, extrusion angle and friction factor. The internal spline forming can cause the buckling and folding during the cold extrusion process because of using a thin and long tube. The optimum design parameters have been obtained through rigid-plastic finite elements analysis. The extrusion ratio and extrusion angle have great effects on the deformation characteristics of the cold extrusion process.

레이저보조가공에서 NURBS 곡면 형상의 예열방법에 대한 연구 (Study on the Preheating Method of NURBS Shaped Workpiece by Laser Assisted Machining)

  • Laser-Assisted machining (LAM) is a new method for processing hard-to-cut materials. However, curved shapes are difficult to predict the preheating effect of by LAM because heat sources are changed by moving laser module. So, it is necessary to study the preheating effect of the laser heat source irradiated on a 3-dimensionally shaped workpiece, such as a NURBS shaped workpiece. In this study, thermal analysis and preheating experiment of the LAM for the NURBS shaped workpiece are performed. Also, two machining methods are proposed to avoid interference of laser module and cutting tool. The results of the analysis can be applied to various shaped workpieces by LAM.

  • Internal spline forming using a thin and long tube can cause the buckling and folding during the forming process. In the study, we proposed two different extrusion processes, and we performed the analysis in order to obtain the optimal process according to the length of land part. Using the rigid-plastic finite element simulation, the proposed processes have been compared by checking the deformed shape and stroke-road relation.
