Calculation of Man-made Radiation Exposure Rate from NaI Spectrum (NaI 스펙트럼으로부터 인공방사선 조사선량의 계산)

  • The energy band method for NaI spectrum calculates only the exposure rate due to natural radiation because it calculates exposure rate using energy spectrum of $1300{\sim}3000keV$. However, the total energy method includes in its calculation the exposure rate due to man-made radiation because it uses the energy spectrum of $150{\sim}3400keV$. Therefore, the resulting difference of extracting the exposure rate calculated by the energy band method from the exposure rate calculated by the total energy method is apparently the exposure rate due to man-made radiation. In this study, we measured the NaI spectrum during the period of significant changes of the exposure rate in the area without a man-made radiation. As the results, we found the exposure rates calculated by those two methods are equal within the statistical variation of ${\pm}0.3{\mu}R\;h^{-1}$. Consequently, if the difference between the exposure rates calculated by the two methods exists, it may be due to the man-made radiation exposure rate.

  • In this paper, we propose a CAC exploring a RA based dynamic spectrum hole grouping for secondary users' QoS enhancement in multi-classes cognitive radio networks. The RA based dynamic spectrum hole grouping uses SU multi-classes overlaying spectrum structure suggested here. Multiclass SUs are divided into real and non real, and real SUs have a priority for resource utilization against non real. The amount of resource required by real SUs is supported by Wiener prediction and the dynamic spectrum hole grouping, and that required by non real SU is supported by the remained available amount without prediction. In the simulations, we compare the proposed CAC performances using the dynamic spectrum hole grouping in terms of SU connection's blocking(dropping) rate and resource utilization efficiency according to multi-classes traffic characteristics, and then we show the proposed CAC can guarantee the desired QoS of multi-classes secondary users.

Determination of optical constants and thickness of organic electroluminescence thin films using variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (가변입사각 분광타원 법을 이용한 유기 발광 박막의 광학상수 및 두께 결정)

  • We determined the optical constants and thickness of organic electroluminescence thin films using variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry. Using the measured transmittance spectra and the spectroscopic ellipsomeoy data of the organic films on glass substrates in the optically transparent region, we determined the effective thickness and the refractive indices of organic thin films. Then by applying a numerical inversion method to variable angle spectro-ellipsometry data, we determined the complex refractive index at each wavelength including the optically absorbing region, as well as the thickness and surface micro-roughness of the organic thin films. The calculated transmittance spectra showed a tight agreement with the measured ones, confining the validity of the present model analysis.

  • ELP 계열 음성부호화기는 4.8kbps 내외의 전송률에서 양호한 음질을 얻을수 있으며 ITU-T, TIA/EIA 등 여러 국제 표준화 기구를 통해 다양한 응용분야에서 표준화가 이루어졌다. 이중에서 G.723.1은 멀티미디어 통신 환경하의 음성 전송 표준 보코더로 개발되었으며 G.723.1은 5.3kbps/6.3kbps의 이중 전송률을 갖는 구조로 현재 별정 통신으로 상용화되는 인터넷폰과 그 외의 이동 통신용 보코더로 사용되고 있다. G.723.1에서 사용되는 LSP 파라미터는 일정한 스펙트럼 민감도와 낮은 스펙트럼 왜곡을 보인다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 알고리즘은 음성신호의 에너지가 대개 낮은 주파수에 분포한다는 특징을 이용하여 대역폭을 가변으로 조정하였다. 실험결과, 부호화기 전체 계산시간은 약 6%의 감소하였다.

  • CELP 부호화기는 선형 예측 합성에 의한 분석 부호화의 원칙에 기본을 두고 있다. 그리고 음성 신호의 스펙트럼을 LPC 분석을 통해 부호화하는데 고정 윈도우를 사용하여 부호화한다. 그러나 음성신호는 화자의 발성속도에 따라 파형의 변화가 시간적으로 빠르게 변화하기도 하고, 반대로 유사한 파형이 일정시간 유지되기도 한다. 따라서 윈도우의 크기를 발성속도에 맞추어 분석한다면 보다 효율적인 부호화를 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 발성속도에 따라 전송률을 달리 적용하는 방법을 제안한다. 발성속도의 측정은 스펙트럼 변화도를 이용하여 측정하였고, 발성속도가 빠를 때는 프레임 크기를 줄여 시간적으로 빠르게 변화하는 신호에 적응적으로 분석하고 대신 파라미터 표현에 비트를 줄인다. 반대로 발성속도가 느릴 때는 프레임 크기를 키우고 파라미터 표현에 비트를 더 할당한다. 제안한 방법을 실험하기 위해 G.723.1 5.3kbps ACELP 부호화기를 이용하였다 음질의 열하 없이 평균 16.34% 전송률 감소효과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Design of Rugate Filters of Inhomogeneous Refractive Index Using the Fourier transform (Fourier 변환을 이용한 불균일 굴절률 Rugate 필터의 설계)

  • Rugate filters of inhomogeneous refractive index were designed using the Fourier transform and the effect of reflectance, stop bandwidth, optical thickness, and Q function on the rugate filter was investigated. An iterative correction process using a merit function was employed to fit an initial design to the target spectrum. Three Q functions derived by Sossi, Bovard, and Fabricius, respectively, were compared in terms of the number of iteration, merit function, and optimum optical thickness. The result shows that after a number of iterations the Q functions by Bovard and Fabricius produce high rejection rugate filters closer to the target spectrum than the Sossi's Q function and the optimal optical thickness is determined by the stop-band width of the rugate filter. ilter.

Determination of the exposure conversion coefficient for 3" X 3" NaI spectrum (3" X 3" NaI 스펙트럼의 조사선량 변환계수 결정)

  • In order to find the exposure conversion coefficients for 3"X3" NaI spectrum, we measured the exposure rates with the pressurized ion chamber at 29 different areas in the range of $4{\sim}23{\mu}R\;h^{-1}$, and also measured the gamma spectra with 3"X3" and 4"X4" NaI detectors, simultaneously. The exposure conversion coefficient of the total energy method was determined using the linear relation between the measured exposure rate and the gamma spectrum energy. In order to find the exposure conversion coefficients of the energy band method, we applied the exposure conversion coefficients recommended by NCRP to the 4"X4" NaI spectra, and calculated the exposure rates due to $^{40}K,\;^{238}U$, and $^{232}Th$ series respectively. Using the linearly proportional relation between the obtained $^{232}Th$ series exposure rate and peak area of 2614 keV that represents the $^{232}Th$ series, we obtained the exposure conversion coefficients for $^{232}Th$ series. We also determined the conversion coefficients for $^{238}U$ series and $^{40}K$ using a similar method.

Organ Recognition in Ultrasound images Using Log Power Spectrum (로그 전력 스펙트럼을 이용한 초음파 영상에서의 장기인식)

  • In this paper, we propose an algorithm for organ recognition in ultrasound images using log power spectrum. The main procedure of the algorithm consists of feature extraction and feature classification. In the feature extraction, as a translation invariant feature, log power spectrum is used for extracting the information on echo of the organs tissue from a preprocessed input image. In the feature classification, Mahalanobis distance is used as a measure of the similarity between the feature of an input image and the representative feature of each class. Experimental results for real ultrasound images show that the proposed algorithm yields the improvement of maximum 30% recognition rate than the recognition algorithm using power spectrum and Euclidean distance, and results in better recognition rate of 10-40% than the recognition algorithm using weighted quefrency complex cepstrum.

Noisy Speech Recognition using Probabilistic Spectral Subtraction (확률적 스펙트럼 차감법을 이용한 잡은 환경에서의 음성인식)

  • This paper describes a technique of probabilistic spectral subtraction which uses the knowledge of both noise and speech so as to reduce automatic speech recognition errors in noisy environments. Spectral subtraction method estimates a noise prototype in non-speech intervals and the spectrum of clean speech is obtained from the spectrum of noisy speech by subtracting this noise prototype. Thus noise can not be suppressed effectively using a single noise prototype in case the characteristics of the noise prototype are different from those of the noise contained in input noisy speech. To modify such a drawback, multiple noise prototypes are used in probabilistic subtraction method. In this paper, the probabilistic characteristics of noise and the knowledge of speech which is embedded in hidden Markov models trained in clean environments are used to suppress noise. Futhermore, dynamic feature parameters are considered as well as static feature parameters for effective noise suppression. The proposed method reduced error rates in the recognition of 50 Korean words. The recognition rate was 86.25% with the probabilistic subtraction, 72.75% without any noise suppression method and 80.25% with spectral subtraction at SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) 10 dB.

  • 인터넷폰과 화상회의를 위해 개발되어진 G.723.1 음성부호화기는 5.3kbps ACELP와 6.3kbps MP-MLQ 이중 전송률로 구성된다. 본 논문에서는 CELP 계열 음성부호화기의 음질 개선을 위해 스펙트럼 누설을 최소화할 수 있는 가변 윈도우를 이용한 새로운 스펙트럼 분석 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘을 ACELP에 적용한 실험결과에서 스펙트럼 왜곡은 약 0.1dB 정도 감소하였고, 잔차 에너지는 7% 정도 감소하였으며 주관적 음질평가 결과는 0.3 정도 개선되었다.
