  • Character business is generally synthetic business over the cultural barrier and it is highly estimated because it creates high added value as emotional business when emotional marketing is the hottest thing on the market lately. So, the long seller characters are regarded as important items much further. , the typical long seller character in Korea, succeeded in both the cartoon and animation with popularity and there are plenty of OSMU (One Source Multi Use) products spinning from it. Since 2000, however, the markets of comics, animation and characters have been departmentalized, and the characters which were analytically designed, have appeared. For these reasons, the characters market of is exceedingly stagnant than ever before.   • Whereas comics were printed on a paper in the past, it is now possible to produce digital comics thanks to the development of computer technology. However, it only came to be implemented on a monitor instead of paper and did not fully utilize a digital environment. That is because most digital comics or published comics have been made to be transferred in 'one-way' which means that contents of authors are transferred only to readers not vice versa. Recently, the notion of the 'interactive' in the digital contents takes its own shape even at the 'interactive way' of the communications change through the author and the reader's interactivity using the digital technology. As such, the study put more importance on the digital comics in a proper interactive story-telling structure and one of its category through the suggestion of the above and the soil where to develop the following study.

  • As digital media evolves, image changes have evolved from 2D to 3D. At the end of the 1930s when the US overcame the economic crisis and met the Second World War, people needed a hero to escape reality. In DC (Detective Comics), superhero comics started to become popular by making superhero series mainly with Super Man and Bat Man. Timely Comics, founded by Martin Goodman in 1939, also published Marvel Comics, the first comic strip in epochal comics on October 1 of the same year. From this point on, Marble has developed mainly in the cartoon industry. However, in the development of the times and the change of media, Marble boldly grasps the influence of Hollywood movies from the comic centered development system, and moves from the cartoon market to the movie market. Especially, the trans-media storytelling strategy was well reflected in the movie "Avengers" series, which Marvel produced after the merger with Disney. In this paper, When Marble Comics compares with the time when the comic book industry developed before the merger and the time when the movie industry was focused after the merger with Disney What kind of change and development, and The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of these changes.

  • The digital cartoons market is looking for a new growth momentum as the radical increases of the demands and markets about the mobile contents with portable instrument popularization. The conventional digital cartoons markets which are based on web-toon, page viewer cartoons and e-paper cartoons have been studied various fields to overcome some limitations such as the traditional cartoons had. The mobile cartoons which have been changed more and more, have some canvas limitations due to the mobile screen size. These limitations lead to the communication problems between the cartoonists and the subscribers and resulting some obstacles of mobile cartoons activations. In this paper, we developed a authoring tool applied the Screen Flow method to overcome inefficiency of conventional authoring methods. This proposed method can reflect the cartoonists' during the process of authoring mobile cartoons, thereafter we studied about the authoring method of mobile cartoons and its effects. For the convenience of users creating and distributing content in a way has been studied.

  • This paper proposes a digital storytelling system that employs a method of making users simple online sketch being animated in 3D. To help users focus on their story development, our proposed system gives sketch guidelines providing 3D scene structure, and publishes final results as animated scenes with story text across time. This system is based on the web and the authoring process can also be shared with others.

  • The cartoon communicates its messages by cartoon semiotics as a vehicle of emotion, face expression, act, glance, and texts along the story. this style of communication showed in the cartoon can be defined as "Cartoon communication style". Since, the cartoon is cultural and social product, an understanding of "Cartoon communication style" plays a major role in understanding culture and society as well as its production and interchange. To understand what is the "Cartoon communication style", systemic and objective research method through "Cartoon Analysis" is required. The study review cognitive tendency of cartoon expression through semiotic analysis of total 35,225 cuts of Korea, Japanese and Chinese published cartoons and consequently, classifies the cartoons by 3 forms - One-Root, One-Idea and One-Style to encode.

A study on the Types of the Emotional Stimulation Factors of Digital Cartoons (디지털만화의 감성자극요인에 대한 유형 연구)

  • This study aimed to investigate the types that readers enjoying cartoons appreciated cartoons under the premise that cartoons enjoyed over the internet would expand their sensitivity through media such as monitors and mice. The sensitivity of readers enjoying digital cartoons can be stimulated through communication with carton writers or other readers as the interaction of the real-time response to the network. The choice and control are possible with a vertical scroll bar. Accordingly, readers can be absorbed in a work and focus on its story much more. As a result of extracting emotional stimulation factors to verify these assumptions, factors were able to classify the sensitivity that readers enjoying cartoons obtained from digital cartoons into two types, communication and story-focus type, based on the phases that emotional stimuli were strengthened. This study will be significant as a study to identify the relationship between media-technological factors and readers enjoying cartoons in relation to digital cartoons.

  • Internationally, the Korean feature-length animation is not making a successful box office hit. Being a box office hit all around the world is related with entertainment and laughter cannot be excluded as a element that gives such enjoyment. Although the humor would be playing an important role in globalization of Korean animation, studies that analyzed humor in Korean and U.S. animation are still lacking. Recently, there are cases that several Korean animations aim at overseas market entrust pre-production of scenario or storyboard. This paper examines the humor embedded in stories of feature-length animations that had the most differences by analyzing frequency and contents, and through interviews. It also proposes ways to improve the humor embedded in stories of Korean animations.

  • When plan culture contents, the most important thing is storytelling that process to develop resource story and this by contents of various medium. However, the study of the methodology for the interest element design of storytelling which is necessary to produce the culture contents is insufficient. Therefore, this article is going to show a design method, when I plan the culture contents of the OSMU base, which is analysis the pleasure element of storytelling to make an interesting story and visual storytelling to visualize the pleasure elements.
