Event Cognition-based Daily Activity Prediction Using Wearable Sensors (웨어러블 센서를 이용한 사건인지 기반 일상 활동 예측)

  • Learning from human behaviors in the real world is essential for human-aware intelligent systems such as smart assistants and autonomous robots. Most of research focuses on correlations between sensory patterns and a label for each activity. However, human activity is a combination of several event contexts and is a narrative story in and of itself. We propose a novel approach of human activity prediction based on event cognition. Egocentric multi-sensor data are collected from an individual's daily life by using a wearable device and smartphone. Event contexts about location, scene and activities are then recognized, and finally the users" daily activities are predicted from a decision rule based on the event contexts. The proposed method has been evaluated on a wearable sensor data collected from the real world over 2 weeks by 2 people. Experimental results showed improved recognition accuracies when using the proposed method comparing to results directly using sensory features.

Automatic Video Editing Technology based on Matching System using Genre Characteristic Patterns (장르 특성 패턴을 활용한 매칭시스템 기반의 자동영상편집 기술)

  • We introduce the application that automatically makes several images stored in user's device into one video by using the different climax patterns appearing for each film genre. For the classification of the genre characteristics of movies, a climax pattern model style was created by analyzing the genre of domestic movie drama, action, horror and foreign movie drama, action, and horror. The climax pattern was characterized by the change in shot size, the length of the shot, and the frequency of insert use in a specific scene part of the movie, and the result was visualized. The model visualized by genre developed as a template using Firebase DB. Images stored in the user's device were selected and matched with the climax pattern model developed as a template for each genre. Although it is a short video, it is a feature of the proposed application that it can create an emotional story video that reflects the characteristics of the genre. Recently, platform operators such as YouTube and Naver are upgrading applications that automatically generate video using a picture or video taken by the user directly with a smartphone. However, applications that have genre characteristics like movies or include video-generation technology to show stories are still insufficient. It is predicted that the proposed automatic video editing has the potential to develop into a video editing application capable of transmitting emotions.

  • The proliferation of mobile and tablet PC has been collapsing down geographic boundaries. Accordingly, the global cultural and artistic activities and public cultural content exchange have been enlarged. With the spread of Web 2.0, users can easily access a variety of cultural contents. However, each local government develops applicable technical and cultural content service on their own without consulting any best practices or standards. In addition, unlike traditional contents services mobile content services should take into account the characteristics of the environment. It is also necessary to provide personalized contents in a timely manner. In order to accelerate the future mobile environment, this study presents a mobile web service practice that was developed based on the current state for mobile services and a cultural contents derived from standards and effective deployment of the service plan focusing on the case of "The Encyclopedia of Korean Local Culture".

Dynamic Power Management for Webpage Loading on Mobile Devices (모바일 웹 페이지 로딩에서 동적 관리 기법)

  • As the performance of mobile devices has increased, high-end multicore CPUs have become the norm in smartphones. However, such high performance devices are exposed to the problem of battery depletion due to the energy consumption caused by software performance, and despite increases in battery capacity. The required resources are dynamic and varied, and further user interaction is highly random; thus, Linux-based power management such as DVFS is needed to fulfill requirements. In order to reduce power consumption, we propose a method to restrict the CPU frequency of data download while maintaining user reactivity. This can supplement the weakness of existing Linux-based power management techniques like DVFS in relation to webpage loading. Through the implementation of our method at the application level, we confirm that energy consumption from webpage loading is reduced.

Perceived Social Presence in the Text-Based Media: Mobile Communication Case (문자기반 매체에서 느끼는 사회적 현존감: 모바일 커뮤니케이션의 사례)

  • Since the advent of smart phone, a variety of text-based media are developed and used as popular communication tools even in mobile phone environment. This study explores differences in terms of users' perceived social presence level across different text-based media, specifically KakaoTalk, Facebook, SMS. A survey was conducted using items adopted from previous studies on social presence. 203 data points were collected and used for analysis. Across the whole sample, KakaoTalk is perceived as the highest in terms of perceived social presence level, followed by Facebook and SMS. Also, the users with higher level of sociality tends to reveal higher level of perceived social presence across all the media while younger and/or student users tend to maintain higher level of social presence perception across all the media. Further studies seem necessary investigating features of specific medium that may increase or decrease the perceived level of social presence.

  • Electronic payment system using Internet banking is a very important application for users of e-commerce environment. With rapidly growing use of fintech applications, the risk and damage caused by malicious hacking or identity theft are getting significant. To prevent the damage, fraud detection system (FDS) calculates the risk of the electronic payment transactions using user profiles including types of goods, device status, user location, and so on. In this paper, we propose a new risk calculation method using relative location of users such as SSID of wireless LAN AP and MAC address. Those relative location information are more difficult to imitate or copy compared with conventional physical location information like nation, GPS coordinates, or IP address. The new method using relative location and cumulative user characteristics will enable stronger risk calculation function to FDS and thus give enhanced security to electronic payment systems.

  • 최근 기후변화로 인해 국내 기상특성이 변화하고 그에 따라 홍수, 가뭄(건천화) 및 폭염 등 물 관련 재해 발생 빈도가 증가하고 규모 또한 점점 커지고 있다. 또한, 세계적으로 태풍 및 가뭄발생 빈도도 꾸준히 증가하고 있어 정확한 예측 및 즉각적 대처능력 확보를 위한 방안이 필요한 실정이다. 아울러 급격한 도시화로 인한 빈번한 내수범람 및 유역차원의 홍수범람 등으로 인해 재난발생 시 그 피해가 극대화로 직결되고 있어 재난 시 발생할 수 있는 피해 현황을 정확하게 예 경보하기 위한 실시간 수재해 정보 서비스 및 모니터링이 가능한 통합 관리 기술이 필요하다. 이를 위해 현실에서 실시간으로 수재해 관련 부가정보를 영상으로 표출하고, 이를 종합적으로 분석하여 서비스할 수 있는 증강현실 모니터링 시스템을 개발 하고자 한다. 이를 통해 홍수, 가뭄(건천화) 및 태풍 등 물 관련 재해 현황을 실시간으로 감시하고 예측하여 대처 할 수 있는 정보 생산과 서비스 및 모니터링 등의 통합 관리가 가능할 것으로 판단된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 사용자가 손쉽게 소통할 수 있는 수재해 정보 서비스 구현을 위한 맞춤형 기술을 개발하고자 빅데이터 기반의 수재해 정보 증강현실(AR) 적용성 연구를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 재해 발생 시 빠르게 대처하기 위한 시스템을 구축하고자 관리자 및 사용자를 고려한 GUI 설계 및 수재해 정보의 Global 위성지도 기반 3D 시각화 적용을 위한 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 향후 스마트폰 기능을 적극적으로 활용하여 재해 대처 방안 및 행동 요령을 효과적으로 전달함으로써 재난 피해를 줄일 수 있는 애플리케이션(App) 개발을 진행할 예정이다. 개발된 증강현실 모니터링 시스템은 수재해 정보 서비스를 향상시키고 효율적인 예방 및 대처를 실현함으로써 국가 물 관련 재해를 혁신할 수 있는 기술을 확보하는 소중한 토대가 될 것으로 사료된다.

  • Although the development of mobile devices are made us a free life, they were displayed the subject of this financial crime and attacking forces in the other side. Among finance-related crime is become a serious crime that are targeting smartphones by SMS phishing, phishing, pharming, voice phishing etc. In particular, SMS phishing is increased according to phenomenon using the nature of a text message in the mobile. SMS phishing is become new crime due to the burden to the smartphone user. Their crime is also the advanced way from the existing fraud, such as making the malicious apps. Especially it generates loopholes in the law by a method such as using a foreign server. For safe from SMS phishing attacks, proactive pre-diagnosis is even more important rather than post responses. It is necessary to deploy blocking programs for detecting SMS phishing attacks in advance to do this. In this paper we are investigating the process of block types and block apps that are currently deployed and presenting the evaluation of the application of the detection block setting app.

Why are we addicted to SNS? - the Mediation effect of SNS Stress (왜 우리는 SNS에 중독되는가? - SNS 스트레스의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • Social media users are an important part of our lives as they spend a lot of time and actively use them. However, it is known that there are many users who feel the psychological stress of SNS stress or fall into addiction due to SNS use. SNS stress negatively affects not only the user's mind but also the body. This study investigates the associations between SNS stress and addiction. To test the hypotheses, the study performed structural equation modeling using Amos. We collected 210 data from SNS users. The empirical results showed that SNS overuse had a significant effect on SNS stress. Second, SNS stress had a significant relationship with SNS addiction. Third, it was found that SNS overuse did not directly affect SNS addiction. This study suggests that it is necessary to recognize the importance of the relationship between SNS addiction and SNS stress.

  • As the Android smart phones become more popular, applications that handle users' personal data such as IDs or passwords and those that handle data directly related to companies' income such as in-game items are also increasing. Despite the need for such information to be protected, it can be modified by malicious users or leaked by attackers on the Android. The reason that this happens is because debugging functions of the Linux, base of the Android, are abused. If an application uses debugging functions, it can access the virtual memory of other applications. To prevent such abuse, access controls should be reinforced. However, these functions have been incorporated into Android O.S from its Linux base in unmodified form. In this paper, based on an analysis of both existing memory access functions and the Android environment, we proposes a function that verifies thread group ID and then protects against illegal use to reinforce access control. We conducted experiments to verify that the proposed method effectively reinforces access control. To do that, we made a simple application and modified data of the experimental application by using well-established memory editing applications. Under the existing Android environment, the memory editor applications could modify our application's data, but, after incorporating our changes on the same Android Operating System, it could not.
