User control based OTT content search algorithms (사용자 제어기반 OTT 콘텐츠 검색 알고리즘)

  • This research is focused on the development of the proprietary database embedded in the OTT device, which is used for searching and indexing video contents, and also the development of the search algorithm in the form of the critical components of the interface application with the OTT's database to provide video query searching, such as remote control smartphone application. As the number of available channels has increased to anywhere from dozens to hundreds of channels, it has become increasingly difficult for the viewer to find programs they want to watch. To address this issue, content providers are now in need of methods to recommend programs catering to each viewer's preference. the present study aims provide of the algorithm which recommends contents of OTT program by analyzing personal watching pattern based on one's history.

Implementation of Visible Light Communication Transceiver of Mobile Devices for Location-Based Services (위치기반서비스 제공을 위한 휴대기기용 가시광통신 송수신기 구현)

  • Visible light communication technology, which is a communication using LED lighting, is defined by IEEE 802.15.7 WG and active research is under way. Visible light communication is advantageous not only to avoid interference with existing RF communication but also to provide location based service through accurate positioning by utilizing LOS (Line of Sight) characteristic. Therefore, it is very easy and efficient to locate and track the user's location. In this paper, we implemented a visible light communication transceiver using USB interface for easy application to portable devices. It supports the mobility of mobile devices through internet protocol and showed BER performance of less than $10^{-3}dBm$ at over 1m, which is the height of lighting and smart device during walking.

A comparative study on the usability evaluation of museum smart phone applications in pre-visit setting (박물관 스마트폰 애플리케이션에 대한 사용자 평가 비교 연구)

  • This research validates the correlation between usability and functional attributes whilst comparing the degree of satisfaction of information framework used in museum mobile apps via usability evaluation in pre-visit setting. In cases of Bilbao Guggenheim and American Natural History Museum apps, the degree of satisfaction measured for information service, functional attributes, motivation for actual museum visit and during-visit usability of the apps were all highly evaluated. Such evaluation data indicates the increased usability of apps when mobile applications take user-friendly design that intuitively reflect users' interests and needs. After thorough analysis of correlation between usability and fictional attributes, data pointed to more meaning relationships existed in non-intrusiveness and personalization than other functional attributes. In conclusion, we were able to acknowledge the usability of museum mobile apps depends upon the interaction between content and functional attributes rather than entertainment factor and technology.

IoT-enabled Solutions for Tour Photography Services

  • In this paper, we propose an IoT-enabled solution for tour photography services with small-size investment and resources in the travel and tourism industries, being able to impact on economic, social, and cultural values. An IoT-enabled camera is developed based on an open hardware and software platform complying with oneM2M, which can make traditional embedded systems oneM2M-compliant devices due to a middleware solution called TAS (thing adaptation software). IoT cameras deployed around photo zones in a tour site could be remotely controlled via an IoT gateway with a Web-based application on a smartphone. Users would perform a pan and tilt camera control if they want and then take and download a perfect photo picture (even though they are away from the tour site). We expect that the proposed solution will promote the deployment IoT-enabled technologies in tour and travel industries which are important parts of the tertiary sector.

  • Head-Up Display, an information-providing display, is a device that provides necessary information through a vehicle window for a driver when driving, with which the driver secures the visibility and acquires information necessary for driving. Head-up displays in early days were mostly installed in imported vehicles but increasingly, being installed in medium and large-sized domestic vehicles, they secures convenience of driving and information acquirement. The information display element of each of currently released brand cars not only has limits in consistency and in displaying interface but also reveals the limitation of a way to apply GUI, being applied to dot reflective form in terms of the technology type. Accordingly, this study draws real time information element described as necessary during driving through case survey and analysis, and aims to provide a user with new GUI guideline through transparent display technology recently developed based on results analyzed with priority of POI(Point of Interest) information.

  • Since the elderly voices include a lot of noise caused by physiological changes in respiration, phonation, and resonance, the performance of the convergence health-care equipments such as speech recognition, synthesis, analysis program done by elderly voice is deteriorated. Therefore it is necessary to develop researches to operate health-care instruments with elderly voices. In this study, a voice activity detection using a symmetric higher-order differential energy function (SHODEO) was developed and was compared with auto-correlation function(ACF) and the average magnitude difference function(AMDF). It was confirmed to have a better performance than other methods in the voice interval detection. The voice activity detection will be applied to a voice interface for the elderly to improve the accessibility of the smart devices.

  • In order to provode information services on M-Commerce, a payment solution with security function should be required. User's mobile terminals for using M-Commerce services are diversifying to cellular phone, PDA, Smart phone etc. Among them, intergration of PDA's interface and mobile connection overcomes the weak point of existing cullular phone depending on information via the internet. In this paper, the protocol for a credit card transaction on PDA using ECC is presented. Secure Card module on this protocol encrypts user's information such as private information, delivery information and credit card information and store them on PDA in order to free from inputting information whenever it is used. This scheme also offers security services on M-Commerce including authentication, confidentiality, integration, non-repudiation and so on.

  • With the development of web 2.0 and the rapid diffusion of smart devices, current web service, which only provides very limited information and service, has been transformed into user-friendly and comprehensive web service called mash-up service. Mash-up service is defined as comprehensive service that is created by combining variety of web services. When composing a mesh-up service, Open API is used as web service interface. Current mash-up service, however, has fundamental problem in that it could not satisfy the various needs of users who want I-centric personalized service because it is developed and provided by service developers. To overcome these obstacles, a lot of studies on mesh-up framework are being performed for improving mash-up proess though, it is still in beginning stage. In this paper, we introduce an API selection and compostion method as the key technology for mesh-up framework that support the automatic creation of mesh-up service.

  • The game industry using Smart phones and related market is rapidly growing every year and a graphical view of the game fun and games player is in a diverse environment improvement. Game visuals in the design of the application of the user's perspective, very simple tricks, unlike such as the game's environment is pc, but more sophisticated and to improve the quality of the game, planning is required. Ranking the top rankings, game downloads this study, therefore, has recently structured questionnaire based on the case in existing research conducted a survey. The surveyed more than 200 million people downloaded the Onmyoji game users in China was limited to the preferences of each gui survey analyzed. Preference shown in graphic identify success factors should be improved to lighting of the basic elements of design / ux ui and applications should be taken into account when designing the game. A Study on Design Factors for research purposes. The results verification the importance of visual elements, information elements, manipulation, and rapid response.

Platform Independent Game Development Using HTML5 Canvas (HTML5 캔버스를 이용한 플랫폼 독립적인 게임의 구현)

  • Recently, HTML5 have drawn many people's attention since it is considered as a next-generation web standard and can implement a lot of graphic and multimedia-related techniques on a web browser without installing programs separately. In this paper, we implement a game independent of platforms, such as iOS and Android, using the HTML5 canvas. In the game, the main character can move up, down, left, and right not to collide with neighboring enemies. If the character collides with an enemy, the HP (hit point) gauge bar reduces. On the other hand, if the character obtains heart items, the gauge bar increases. In the future, we will add various items to the game and will diversify its user interfaces by applying computer vision techniques such as various gesture recognition.
