  • IoT paradigm which makes a information without direct intervention of a human and interworks with other objects, humans and systems is attracting attention. It will be expected the number of smart devices equipped with sensors and wireless communication capabilities is reached to about 260 billion by 2020. With the vast amount of sending data generated from rapidly increasing number of smart devices, it will bring up the traffic growth over internet and congestion in wireless networks. In this paper, we utilize the smart device as a sink node to collect and forward the sensing data periodically in IoT and propose a heuristic algorithm for a selection of sink nodes' set with each sink node satisfies the QoS its applications because a selection of optimal sink nodes' set is NP-hard problem. The complexity of proposed heuristic algorithm is $O(m^3)$ and faster than the optimal algorithm.

  • In this paper, we proposed the efficient addressing scheme for improving the performance of routing algorithm by using ZigBee in Smart Grid environment. In a 16-bit address space and the network size of a few thousands, it is very unlikely to suffer from frequent address collisions. In response, we propose an elegant (x, y, z) coordinate axes addressing scheme from divided address space of 16 bit and its routing algorithm. One of disadvantages of (x, y) coordinate axes addressing, however, is that any router may not hold as many children as proposed, since sensor nodes tend to be connected to a geographically nearby router. We also present an adaptive routing algorithm for location-aware routing algorithms, using our addressing scheme. As a result, each node was reduced not only bitwise but also multi hop using the coordinate axes while routing and the effective address assignment and routing is to minimize the average energy consumption of each node in the network.

  • As association between sensor networks that collect environmental information by using numberous sensor nodes and smartphones that are equipped with various sensors, many applications understanding users' context have been developed to interact users and their environments. Collected data should be stored with XML formatted metadata containing semantic information to share the collected data. In case of distance based clustering schemes, the efficiency of data collection decreases because metadata files are extended and changed as the purpose of each system developer. In this paper, we proposed a clustering scheme considering the structural similarity of metadata to reduce clustering construction time and improve the similarity of metadata among member nodes in a cluster.

  • The development of low-power wireless communication and low-cost multi-functional smart sensor has enabled the sensor network that can perceive the status information in remote distance. Sensor nodes are sending the collected data to the node in the base station through temporary communication path using the low-cost RF communication module. Sensor nodes get the energy supply from small batteries, however, they are installed in the locations that are not easy to replace batteries, in general, so it is necessary to minimize the average power consumption of the sensor nodes. It is known that the RF modules used for wireless communication are consuming 20-60% of the total power for sensor nodes. This study suggests the probability inference heuristic based non-periodic transmission to send the collected information to the base station node, when the calculated value by probability is bigger than an optional random value, adapting real-time to the variation characteristics of sensing datain order to improve the energy consumption used in the transmission of sensed data. In this transmission method suggested, transmitting is decided after evaluation of the data sensed by the probability inference heuristic algorithm and the directly sensed data, and the coefficient that is needed for its algorithm is decided through the reappearance rate of the algorithm verification data.

  • Raspberry Pi is a credit card-sized computer with support for a large number of input and output peripherals. This makes it the perfect platform for interaction with many different devices and for usage in a wide range of applications. When combined with Wi-Fi, it can communicate remotely, therefore increasing its suitability for the construction of wireless sensor nodes. In addition, data processing and decision-making can be based on artificial intelligence, what is performed in developed testbed on the example of monitoring and determining the confidence of fire. In this paper, we demonstrated the usage of Raspberry Pi as a sensor web node for fire-safety monitoring in a building. When the UV-flame sensors detect a flame as thin as that of a candle, the Raspberry Pi sends a push-message to notify the assigned smartphone of the on-site situation through the GCM server. A mobile app was developed to provide a real-time video streaming service in order to determine a false alarm. If an emergency occurs, one can immediately call for help.

  • In this paper, we proposed IoT based Smart Health Service using Motion Recognition for Human UX/UI. Until now, sensor networks using M2M-based u-healthcare are using non-IP protocol instead of TCP / IP protocol. However, in order to increase the service utilization and facilitate the management of the IoT-based sensor network, many sensors are required to be connected to the Internet. Therefore, IoT-based smart health service is designed considering network mobility because it is necessary to communicate not only the data measured by sensors but also the Internet. In addition, IoT-based smart health service developed smart health service for motion detection as well as bio information unlike existing healthcare platform. WBAN communications used in u-healthcare typically consist of many networked devices and gateways. The method proposed in this paper can easily cope with dynamic changes even in a wireless environment by using a technology supporting mobility between WBAN sensor nodes, and systematic management is performed through detection of a user's motion.

  • In smartphone sensing which monitors various social phenomena of the individuals by using embedded sensors, managing metadata is one of the important issue to process large-scale data, improve the data quality, and share collected data. In this paper, we proposed a document clustering scheme for the large-scale metadata management architecture which is designed as a hybrid back-end consisting of a cluster head and member nodes to reduce the server-side overhead. we also verified that the proposed scheme is more efficient than the distance based clustering scheme in terms of the server-side overhead through simulation results.

  • This paper presented an occupancy-based energy saving system for appliance energy saving in smart house. The developed system is composed of a sensing system and a home gateway system. The sensing system is set of wireless sensor nodes which have pyroelectric infrared (PIR) sensor to detect a motion of human and set of smart plugs which measure the current using CT (current transformer) sensor and send the current to home gateway wirelessly. We measured current consumption of appliances in real time using smart plugs, and checked the occupation of residents using occupancy sensors installed on the door and room. The proposed system saves electric energy to switch off the supply power of unnecessary usages in the unoccupied spaces. Experiments conducted have shown that electric energy usage of appliances can be saved about 34% checked by using occupation.

  • Recently, various technologies related to IIoT are introduced continuously due to the spread of IoT and smart factory industries. This paper proposes the construction of a two-way wireless network system for monitoring plant equipment using these various technologies. The main technologies used in this thesis are design techniques for micro sensor nodes to monitor facility conditions at various sites, MQTT technology for wireless communication between local server and sensor nodes and Node-RED based design technologies, which store data collected and can be easily presented to users via wired and wireless wires. In addition, a wireless two-way camera system was also implemented in which the screen images of the site can be viewed in the situation room according to the instructions of the situation room when determining abnormal conditions.
