Effects of Football Talents Program on Body Composition, Physical Fitness, Self-Control and Self-Efficacy in Elementary School Students (축구영재 프로그램이 초등학생의 신체조성, 기초체력, 자기조절능력 및 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of football talents program on body composition, fitness, self-control and self-efficacy in elementary school students The subjects were eighty males students volunteers, composed of the lower group (n=40; 1-3th grade) and senior group (n=40; 4-6th grade). The test data were analyzed by paired t-test, independent t-test and two-way repeated measures ANOVA. The alpha level of p<0.05 was set for all tests of significance. The results of the study in the both group were as follows; The muscle mass in the body composition had significantly increased, and there was a significant difference between groups. Body fat mass had significantly decreased. Fitness(cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, power and agility) had significantly increased, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, and power was a significant difference between groups. Self-control and self-efficacy had increased significantly in both groups. Therefore, the football talents program had a positive effects on body composition and physical fitness levels of elementary school students. And it seems to be effective in increasing self-control and self-efficacy.

Development of a functional game device and Contents for improving of brain activity through finger exercise (뇌활동 증진을 위한 손가락 운동용 기능성 게임 장치 및 콘텐츠 개발)

  • It is well known that the exercising and stimulating of fingers have an important bearing on the brain. We take note of the fact and develope a game device for improving one's health and brain ability in respect of the education and training. Especially, we develope the device focused on the balanced exercising of five finger for improving brain function. The game device is possible to used in two-ways, namely online and off-line mode. In online mode, the device is connected with other visual devices such as smart phone and smart TV and communicated with Bluetooth and it is used as a MMI(multi-modal interface) device. Whereas, in off-line mode the game device works independently and it makes possible to enjoy auditorial and tactual games without video images for promotion of brain activity and emotional cultivation. For certification of the device, we implement two games(a fishing game for off-line mode and a shooting game for online mode) for people of all age, especially good for the elderly. It is usable as a game device to offering the elderly a great help for preventing impairment of the cognitive functions.

Study on Guidelines for Selecting Traditional Games in Relation to Multiple Intelligence Development (다중지능발달을 위한 민속놀이 선정기준 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to draw guidelines on how to select traditional games that would efficiently help and develop multiple intelligences in children. Guidelines standard of section inquiries were prepared through a Delphi survey targeting twenty experts in early childhood education and traditional games. As a result, linguistic intelligence questions regarding writing, listening, speaking and vocabulary acquisition were selected. logical-mathematical intelligence questions regarding strategy, counting, patterns, hypothesis, verification, and comparing, contrasting, calculating ability were selected. Spatial intelligence questions regarding drawing, coloring, representation activities, operating and creating were selected, physical performance intelligence questions regarding global muscles, eye-hand coordination, flexibility, accommodation force, balance, agility and muscular strength were selected. Musical intelligence included questions about singing, and playing musical instruments. Interpersonal intelligence included perspective-taking, role-sharing, cooperation and discussion. For intrapersonal intelligence questions regarding personal significance-ties, planning-decision making, emotional expression and problem solving were selected. Finally, in relation to naturalist intelligence, questions regarding living organisms, inanimate objects and seasons were selected. In addition, traditional games were analyzed based on the finalized guidelines, and the results showed that each of the traditional games would not only work with one intelligence at a time but with other different intelligence as well. In the light of that, the study confirmed the validity of the guidelines on how to select traditional games that would develop multiple intelligences in children.

Effects of Exercise Intensities in Physicla Activity, on Fitness, BDNF and Blood Lipid in Middle School Students with Intellectual Disabilities (신체활동 프로그램의 운동강도가 지적장애 중학생의 체력, BDNF 및 혈중지질에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to the effects of exercise intensities in physical activity of 8 weeks, on fitness, blood lipid for middle school students with intellectual disabilities. Participants of the research were allocated by low-intensity(n=8, 40~54%HRR), middle-intensity(n=8, 55~69%HRR), and high-intensity(n=9, 70~85%HRR) exercise groups wirelessly. For setting and maintenance of individual exercise intensity, wireless heart rate monitor(RS-400, POLAR, Finland) was used. Fitness, BDNF, and blood lipid were measured equally before participating in physical activity and 8 weeks after participation. As a result, fitness and agility of high-intensity exercise group were significantly increased than low-intensity exercise group. BDNF of high-intensity exercise group was also significantly increased than low-intensity exercise group. For blood lipid, only total cholesterol showed differences by exercise intensity group and exercise group more than middle intensity showed significant reduction. In conclusion, when giving same exercise to middle school students with intellectual disabilities, fitness and BDNF were increased the mostly in high-intensity exercise group and total cholesterol was effective from the exercise of more than middle intensity.

Effect of Volleyball Program on Physical Fitness and Attention Concentration of Middle School Students with Intellectual Disabilities (배구 프로그램이 중학교 지적장애학생의 체력과 주의집중력에 미치는 효과)

  • The study aims to verify the effects of volleyball programs on the fitness and attention-intensive abilities of students with intellectual disabilities in middle school. Physical strength and attention concentration were analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the volleyball program. The volleyball program was applied to the experimental group three times a week, 90 minutes a week, a total of 36 times for 12 weeks. To verify the effectiveness of physical strength and attention concentration, the PPS-D intellectual disability student test and ATA concentration test were used to verify the effectiveness of attention concentration The six-minute walking figure related to cardiopulmonary functions was improved compared to those with intellectual disabilities who did not participate in the volleyball program, the report showed. We can see improvements in muscular function-related sit-ups and flexibility-related sit-ups compared to those with intellectual disabilities who did not participate, and significant changes have been seen in the distance of the place-wide jump related to net worth. We could also confirm that it had a positive effect on the improvement of selective attention concentration, and that the change in self-control, continuous attention, and selective attention among middle school students had a positive effect on the improvement.

The Effect of Judo Training on Body Composition, Blood lipids and Immunity of Security Majoring Obese University Students (유도훈련이 경호전공 비만대학생들의 신체구성, 혈중지질 및 면역력에 미치는 영향)

  • College students majoring in bodyguards learn and acquire bodyguard martial arts to protect the life and property of the subjects. Also, the bodyguard martial arts are helping to improve and maintain the body and spirit of the bodyguards. However, more and more students majoring in security at universities are becoming obese due to lack of time to participate in bodyguard training and excessive food intake, which could have a negative impact on their future security work as well as their health condition. In this study, the effect of 10 weeks of Judo training on body composition, blood lipid and immune function on Security Majoring obese male college students was determined to be as follows. 1. Weight(p<.05), ; body fat ratio(p<.05), BMI(p<.01) etc. of body composition after Judo training were significantly reduced, and in the case of BMI(F=4.488, p<05), there were significant differences in interaction between groups and timing. 2. After judo training, TC (p<.05) and LDL-C(p<.01) of the blood lipid showed a significant decrease. 3. After judo training, lymphocytes of leukocytes were shown to increase significantly(p<.05), lymphocytes(F=11.772, p<.01) showed significant differences among groups. 4. After judo training, IgA and IgG of immunoglobulin were shown to increase significantly (p<.05), IgA(F=7.646, p<.05) and IgG (F=14.267, p<.01) showed significant differences among groups. Considering the above results, it is thought that judo training can prevent obesity due to reduced body fat and reduce neutral fat and cholesterol, thus preventing arteriosclerotic diseases. In addition, it is expected to play a positive role in defense against human bacterial infections, inflammatory reactions, and external antigen in immune function. It is thought that this will not only prevent the bodyguards' obesity but also maintain a healthy life and improve the security work efficiency. However, some studies have shown results that are somewhat different from the results of this study, so studies on blood lipids, immune function, and exercise will require more detailed research on various methods of exercise, such as exercise time and intensity.

Comparison of physique and physical fitness in sports talent children with TES program (스포츠탤런트 발굴 참여 아동의 체격 및 체력 요소 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the comparison of physique with physical fitness according to TBS (Talented-Educational in Sport) program by H University in 2009-2011. For this study, 668 elementary students (2009: 297, 2010: 194, 2011: 177 or 1st: 506, 2nd: 104, 3rd: 58) were collected who aged 7 to 13 living in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. The subjects were measured on physique variables (5) and physical fitness variables (7). Mean comparisons (ANOVA) were conducted for each gender in order to compare the mean differences among attendance number. For association analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient was used to find association between the physique and physical fitness variables. Some physical fitness variables (sit up, half squat jump, side step, standing long jump, flexibility in male children; sit up, half squat jump, side step in female children) increased significantly in the attendance number but the physique variables did not. The results show that TES program was effective on the physical fitness variables (muscle endurance & agility) in sports talent children.

A Study on Job Analysis and Physical Fitness of Special Security Guard in Nuclear Power Plant (원자력발전소 특수경비원의 직무분석과 체력에 관한 연구)

  • Special security guards play the role to safely operate and manage nuclear power plants from unintended internal and external threats. Physical fitness management of special security guards is one of the most important factors for improving and maintaining the level of physical protection. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the physical fitness factor and physical fitness level required for mission accomplishment through job analysis of special security guards. The special security guards of Nuclear Power Plant in Korea were performing 7 jobs, 26 duties, 159 tasks. In order to accomplish theses tasks, the following physical fitness were required: muscle strength and muscle endurance of the hand, upper limb, lower limb and core, quickness, agility and Cardio function. The duties that require a lot of physical fitness were in the order of conducting arrest and self-defense, conducting unarmed defensive tactics, demonstrating proficiency with semiautomatic rifle, using protective equipment, performing emergency plan and defensive strategy, etc. The results of this study are expected to provide basic data necessary for establishing guidelines for fitness qualification and training of special security guards in the future and contribute to enhancement of physical protection of nuclear power plants.

Changes in Visual Response Speed, Functional Movement, Body Balance, and Lung Capacity after a 10-Week Body Stability Exercise Program for High School Male Handball Players (10주간의 고교 남자 핸드볼 선수 신체 안정화 프로그램 후 시각 반응 속도, 기능적 움직임, 신체 균형, 폐활량 변화)

  • This study aims to see, a 10-weeks program of Body Stability Exercise(BSE) was conducted on 21 male handball players at Muan Y High School and then, the results of changes in Visual Response Speed Test, Functional Movement Screen, Y-Balance Test, and Vital Capacity were observed, compared and analyzed to provide follow-up management and training data that can be used to reduce injuries and improve performance. After training, strength and quickness were increased significantly and reaction time was significantly shortened (p<0.001). The total score of Functional Movement Screen was increased from 10.43±1.16, before training to 12.05±1.07 after training, which was statistically significant(p<0.001). Y-Balance Test was significantly increased from 89.18±6.99 before training to 91.39±7.33 after training(p<0.001). The Vital Capacity increase was also shown to be more than statistically significant(p<0.001). The 10-week BSE program improved speed, agility, Functional Movement Screen, Y-Balance Test, and Vital Capacity. In conclusion, it's can prevent or reduce injuries and performance could be improved while playing handball.

A Qualitative Study on English Speaking Tasks Experienced by Beginner Level EFL Learners (초급 수준의 영어학습자들이 경험한 그림을 활용한 영어 말하기 과업에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to allow beginner level English learners to experience the English speaking task using pictures, and to analyze the meanings of the experience using a phenomenological research method. As research participants, 10 freshmen majoring in Power Generation Facilities at Korean Polytechnic University in Gangwon-do were selected. Face-to-face interviews and SNS were used for data collection, and Colaizzi's research method was adopted for data analysis. As a result of the analysis, 9 themes, 4 theme clusters, and 2 categories were derived. The results are as follows. First, the participants were able to find hope that they could speak English at their own level through the English speaking task using pictures. Second, they stated that the effect of the visual medium of painting increased concentration and curiosity and lowered anxiety. Third, it was recognized that self-confidence, a speaker like a native speaker, and quickness of speaking improved due to familiarity with speaking English. Fourth, the biggest difficulty in the English speaking task was vocabulary. So, they felt the limitation in explaining the picture, and they were having a lot of trouble in translating Korean words into English words. Finally, through the results of this study, the effect of the medium of picture was confirmed, and necessary future studies were suggested.
