In this paper, we proposes to develop an online academic vocabulary dictionary as a way of educating academic vocabulary for content-oriented Korean language education. Various academic languages exist in the content-based Korean language teaching materials they encounter when studying at university. You cannot understand or produce academic text without knowing the academic vocabulary. Therefore, one of the tasks of Korean language education has become to improve educational efficiency by preparing a method for academic vocabulary education that is most suitable for them in consideration of their own. Prior to the development of the online academic vocabulary dictionary, the institute conducted a basic study on how the content should be contained in the online dictionary. Online academic vocabulary dictionaries allow students to naturally link their limited education into and out of the classroom, thereby overcoming the limitations of vocabulary education at the educational scene and maximizing their educational effectiveness.

The purpose of the thesis is to clarify the basis and the substance in Sijo of the fixed form of verse. Sijo has the fixed form of verse in the national identity and the subjectivity of the culture up to now. To examine problems suggested above. at first in the point of the culture I researched the continuation of Sijo to the fixed form of verse in 21th centuries. And in the point of the education of Korean I classified into the subjectivity. Through the modem poetry I came to find out that the modern Sijo is displayed the originality between the modem poetry and the ancient Sijo today. To sum up I researched the substance and the originality in Sijo in 21th centuries. In order to study the originality in the basis and the identity in Sijo which have succeeded up to present without interruption, it is to gather more materials, widen an appreciative eye for our culture and deepen the till now study continuously.

This study explores four Korean films: Silenced (2011), Unbowed (2012), The Attorney (2014), and New Trial (2017). Based on these films, this study explores the features of courtroom films and their social significance on society. The ability of Korean courtroom films to have such a profound impact on Korean society is something that is not usually witnessed in other countries. Also, the fact that they are low-budget works, not action/thrillers within the 'guaranteed star' system, and the fact that they present opportunities for netizens to call for change is a defining feature of Korean courtroom films. All four films have sparked controversy over the level of realism in Korean courtroom films, but what is more important is the way in which they portray contemporary social change. In summary, these four Korean courtroom films highlight the characteristics of social action and the means of mobilization required to effect it.

This study presents an analysis of a total of 101 papers on the theme of international research cooperation by nation, gathered from Web of Science. The findings of this study show that 20 nations published papers on the theme of international research cooperation with the ranking of U.K.(27 papers, 26.7%), the Netherlands(20 papers, 19.8%), U.S.(19 papers, 18.8%), Brazil and Spain(5 papers, 5.0%), Russia(4 papers, 4.0%), etc. South Korea was found to be in the lower ranking group(2 papers, 2.0%), suggesting that it still has a lower level of international research cooperation. Thus, particularly, researchers at universities by institution and humanities by discipline should activate the publication of papers on international research cooperation by expanding relevant projects so that the international research capabilities of South Korea should be bolstered.

Didier Éribon's dialogue with Ernst Gombrich, first published in 1991 in France, stands as a curious example of interpreting a scientific mind into a popular narrative. On the occasion of its brand new translation in Korean, this essay examines the encounter of two different languages, that of scholarly art history and the other, of "entretien". Éribon's previous interviews with Georges Dumézil and Claude Lévi-Strauss have already shown the perfect use of dialogue that interprets in simple words some currents of European thoughts of 20th century at its highest level. The double identity found in the extraordinary profile of the author of The Story of Art should help us deal with this particular form of dialogue in depth, and expect another possibility of explaining and reconstructing academia.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of the electronic information resources of humanities scholars in Korea and propose the planning of academic library and information services to serve their needs. To collect data, a postal survey was conducted during the period of November 2007 through January 2008. Out of 799 humanities scholars sampled from 25 universities, 132 responded with a completion rate of 16%. The major findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, the majority of humanities scholars distribute their time equally between research and education, and conduct independent research. Secondly, they use, to a certain degree, electronic information resources largely in text format, and depend upon the electronic collection of their academic libraries. Thirdly, with the exception of a couple of sources of electronic journal resources, the electronic resources that these humanities scholars regularly use vary so widely that none could be considered to be a common resource. Fourthly, they value the convenience of accessing and using electronic resources, but worry about the quality and scope of the contents. It is suggested that academic libraries (1) become the gateway for the electronic information that is available both inside and outside the library, (2) provide integrated search feature for and a 'single sign on' access to electronic resources, and (3) plan customized user education for specific subject fields in the humanities.

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between theory of Confucian moral cultivation and meditation. Recently our community is more interested in 'a disease of mind'. A view of world, life, values which derived from the distorted perception of 'a disease of mind' can not be treated by psychiatric methods. In this sense, 'a disease of mind' is different from psychiatric illness. In this reason, alternative therapies applying philosophy, literature, arts, and humanities are attracting attention. Meditation is also one of them. In general, Meditation has been developed in Buddhism, but its method is closely related with Confucianism. Buddhist meditation has a pessimistic view of the reality in human life, but that of Confucian philosophy has laid stress on the reality and ego in human life. At this point, the Confucian meditation could provide a clue of solution for us in treatment of a disease of human mind. So Confucian moral cultivation and meditation have a great significance for the treatment of this disease as a methodology. In general, mental healing or psychotherapy has been proceeded by way of dialogue. 'Talking Cure' was conceived to let clients themselves recognize their current situation and find out the problem: "what happened and what's wrong" in their minds. But it does not have a high possibility of successful cure for subjects who are in the state of frustration, confusion, and lost of value. And also it is very difficult to apply to special institutions such as correctional institutions and military soldier who are targeted by current application of Humanities therapy. On this sense, it seems to be valuable to apply Confucian cultivation of mind and meditation which have emphasized the importance of mind-control for this. This study tries to examine theoretically how to relate the Confucian cultivation of mind with meditation, and to suggest a model of Humanities therapy that could be applied by Toe-gye's 『The Method on Preservation of Human mind(活人心方)』. Although Confucian cultivation of mind could present a meaningful theory for curing the disease of mind, it is very difficult to put the theory into practice. It is because Confucian cultivation of mind in itself is a kind of instruction that you need to do in all of your life, and essentially it is difficult to expect a temporary effect by performance or practice. So a cure model of Confucian cultivation of mind will be suggested on this assumption and limitations. This model is attempted on the main purpose of Humanities therapy in accordance with the development of a Korean model.

This study aims to analyze the research trends of English-language journals in Korean studies published in Korea. Data were collected from four English journals in Korean studies indexed in A&HCI and SCOPUS. A total of 1,840 were selected, including 768 articles of the Korea Journal, 466 articles of The Review of Korean Studies, 285 articles of the Seoul Journal of Korean Studies, and 321 articles of the Acta Koreana, in connection with content analysis, author analysis, author keyword frequency analysis, and topic modeling. In results, the domain research of Korean studies is Humanities, followed by Social Science, and Arts and Kinesiology. These three sectors have grown significantly in publishing numbers since 2000. The subject period of the study is in the order of the modern period, late Joseon, and Japanese colonial period. Authors from domestic affiliations made up 73.34% of the total, but the proportion of authors belonging to foreign institutions continued to increase. As for author keywords, 'Korea'(41), 'Buddhism'(20), 'Koreanwar'(18), and 'Joseon'(18) were derived as top keywords. In topic modeling, six topics were identified; 'Korean culture, cultural transmission,' 'Korean modern political history,' 'Korean social democratization process,' 'Japanese colonial period,' 'Korean religious philosophy,' and 'Korean ancient history.' Through this study, it was possible to identify the interests in and research areas of the recent international academic community of Korean studies.

This is a study to establish the feasibility in terms of the use of the J library, which will be built in Jurye-dong, Sasang-gu, Busan. Accordingly, this study conducted a community analysis and user survey to confirm the necessity of building a library and suggested directions for services that the library should provide in the future. To this end, a community analysis was conducted primarily on Sasang-gu, such as population distribution status, cultural institution status, and Sasang-gu vision. Afterwards, visitors to Sasang Library, Small Library, and Community Center were surveyed on the status of use of existing public libraries and the awareness of J Library to be built in the future. As a result of the survey, the necessity and intention to use J Library were found to be high, and the expectation for prompt provision of sufficient printed materials such as books and magazines was the highest. In the case of the desired space, the demand for 'open space' and 'small meeting space(family room)' was high, In the case of specialized services, there was a high demand for humanities, arts & music, movies, etc., but it was shown that they showed a general interest in various fields.

The aim of this study is to see how bamboo paintings developed and what is the iconographical meaning of them through bamboo Ti-hua-shi(poems on paintings) found in Sheng-Hua-Ji, a leading compilation of Ti-hua-shi(poems on paintings) of Song Dynasty. Bamboo paintings give shapes in a simpler and more direct way in drawing, which means bamboo paintings reveal concretely more characteristics of Ti-hua-shi (poems on paintings). Bamboo paintings, which flourished during Northern Song Dynasty, often had the image of the dragon, specially a lying dragon or a winding dragon, which suggests a great man in obscurity. Snow-laden bamboos were also a symbol of a great man, very wise man in Confucian tradition. This shows Confucian ideal examples were embodied through bamboo paintings. Another aspect of bamboo paintings is that bamboo paintings were regarded as a means of self-expression, which identified Confucian sadaebu (scholar-officials) who advocated simplicity and austerity in their life. Contrary to professional painters, who added color and decoration to their paintings, Confucian scholars of Song Dynasty reduced color and embellishment in their bamboo paintings in black-and-white to reveal their own identity, focusing on spirituality rather than the image itself. Therefore, drawing and appreciating bamboo paintings were highly respectable pastime among the literati of Song Dynasty. In short, Bamboo paintings in Song Dynasty were not only a Confucian symbol of a wise and virtuous man but also reflected the taste of Song sadaebu class who thought of bamboo as a symbol for moral and cultural responsibility of Confucian society.
