  • With the advancement of digital technology, a variety of digital materials are being utilized in education. For their appropriate use of digital resources, teachers need to be able to evaluate the quality of digital resource and determine the suitability for teaching. This study explored how preservice teachers evaluate TocToc-Math, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based math support system. Based on an evaluation framework developed through prior research, preservice teachers evaluated TocToc-Math with evidence-based criteria, including content quality, pedagogy, technology use, and mathematics curriculum alignment. The findings shows that preservice teachers positively evaluated TocToc-Math overall. The evaluation tendencies of preservice teachers were classified into three groups, and the specific characteristics of each factor differed depending on the group. Based on the research results, we suggest implications for improving preservice teachers' evaluation abilities regarding the use of digital technology and AI in mathematics education.

  • Almost every children are naturally non competitive, so they have test anxiety. Because grading in paper-pencil tests is related to competition with their friends. Intense competition should not be a part of the classroom environment. This study intends to reflect current standardized tests(summative evaluations) in an elementary school mathematics(2008) and reconstructed it's problem. Teachers should provide students with rich situational problem-solving opportunities. Therefore we conclude "summative evaluation are consisted of some large problem type which contain some subproblems, or from easy(simple) problem with relation to difficult problem)".

  • This study analyzed the description of the definitions of terms used in the high school <Mathematics> textbooks of the 2015 revised curriculum, selected controversial terms, and investigated the perceptions of mathematics teachers and professors on them. The four controversial terms selected were 'absolute inequality', 'asymptotes', 'irrational expressions', and 'irrational functions'. A survey was conducted to evaluate whether the definitions of these terms differed between textbooks, whether they needed improvement, and whether they needed to be designated as terms. The results of the study showed that 'absolute inequality' was recognized as having a large difference in the definitions of the textbooks, and that there was a high need for revision of the definitions of the terms. In addition, the need for additional research was raised on 'asymptotes' and 'irrational expressions'. This study can be used as basic data for standardizing and improving the definitions of textbook terms to improve students' conceptual understanding.

  • The present study aims at theoretically reviewing studies en the need of alignments among assessment, curriculum and instruction in order to implement the goals of mathematics education. This paper discusses about issues and models fer alignment between instruction and curriculum, and then mainly focuses on alignment of assessment with instruction and curriculum at two levels, classroom and large-scale assessment. It was pointed out that both many published standardized tests for large-scale assessment and classroom assessments failed to meet curricular goals and contents, and instructional methods. The findings imply that reform in mathematics education should not be driven by assessment, but be embedded in instructional practices.

  • This study investigated school mathematics curriculum of the State of Georgia in the United States focused on the 'number and operation' and 'algebra' domain. On the basis of its understanding, this domain was compared and analyzed with school mathematics curriculum of Korea. In doing so, this study explored its plans and procedures and established a frame of comparison for the curriculums between the two countries. The most noticeable difference between the former and the new curriculum in mathematics for Georgia schools is the use of performance standards. A performance standard has four components: a content standard, illustrative tasks, examples of student work, and a commentary for teachers. This study focuses on the content standard and according to the results of the present study, Korea focuses on the formal and systematic mathematical knowledge on the basis of sound understanding of certain mathematical terms or concepts. On the other hand, the State of Georgia curriculum tends to deal with the content which can be understood more intuitively, flexibly, and naturally through the experience, aquisition, and furthermore interpretation based on the concrete manipulation and technological devices.

  • Assessment provides valuable information for both teachers and students regarding how well each is doing. Assessment also defines what students must know and be able to do to succeed in a teacher's class. The purpose of this study is to analysis the mathematics assessment items based on strands of mathematical proficiency of National Research Council. According to the study results, the rate of right answers was high in adaptive reasoning and conceptual understanding(over 80%). On the other hand, the rate of right answers was lower in strategic competence(62%) than other strands.
