A Path Analysis: Toward an Open Innovation and Export Performance in SMEs (중소기업의 개방형혁신과 수출성과 경로분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of FTA information learning in export SMEs. Therefore, this study has constructed an integrated model including the moderating effects of FTA information learning on the of export performance in SME. The relationship between SMEs' localization strategy, product innovation capacity, and FTA information learning was linked to export performance, and an empirical analysis was conducted on 195 export SMEs. The path analysis was performed using the structural equation model(SEM), and six hypotheses including the control effect were tested. As a result, the localization strategy of SMEs positively influenced product innovation capacity. On the other hand, FTA information learning did not show significant results. Product innovation capacity and FTA information learning as an antecedents showed significant results in terms of export performance. In the moderated effects analysis, the moderated effect between the localization strategy and FTA information learning did not show significant effect on the product innovation capacity. Whereas the moderated effect between the product innovation capacity and the FTA information learning significant influence on the export performance of SMEs.

  • 매년 증가하는 컨테이너 물동량의 효율적인 처리를 위해서 수출 컨테이너의 처리과정인 반입, 장치 적하의 과정중 배에 싣는 적하작업시 재취급이 발생하게 된다. 재취급이란 컨테이너 야드장에 장치되어 있는 수출 컨테이너를 적하하기 위해 배로 이동할 때 옮겨야 할 수출 컨테이너 위에 다른 수출 컨테이너가 있을 경우 상위의 수출 컨테이너를 다른 곳으로 이동시킨후 해당 컨테이너를 배로 옳기는 것을 말한다. 이와같은 재취급이 발생할 경우 선박의 적하시간이 늘어나고 장비의 이용률이 증가함으로서 컨테이너 터미널의 운영의 효율성이 떨어진다. 적하작업시 발생하는 재취급의 횟수를 최소화하기 위해 수출 컨테이너를 장치할 때 수출 컨테이너를 적하순서의 역순으로 장치를 하는 것이다. 그러나 수출컨테이너가 터미널에 도착하는 순서는 일정하지 않기 때문에 장치되어져 있는 컨테이너를 여러번 재장치하여 일방적으로 역순의 형태로 장치할 경우 재취급의 횟수는 줄일 수 있으나 장비의 사용량은 늘어나므로 결과적으로 효율적이지 못하다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 일정하지 않게 반입되는 수출컨테이너의 위치를 유전자 알고리즘(genetic algorithm)을 이용하여 결정함으로서 수출컨테이너 장치시 재조작횟수를 증가시키지 않고 재 취급을 최소화할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다.

대미 삼계탕 수출, 현재 이렇게 진행되고 있다

  • UR, WTO에 의해 지난 1997년 국내 닭고기 시장이 전면 개방된 이후 매년 닭고기 수입은 급속도로 증가해왔으며, 2003년말 고병원성 조류인플루엔자가 발병되기 전까지만 해도 수입 닭고기는 국내 닭고기 시장의 약 30%를 점유하는 등 국내 닭고기 시장을 크게 위협했다. 특히 미국의 경우 자국 내에서는 인기부위인 가슴육 위주로 소비하고 비 인기부위인 다리육은 우리나라에 덤핑가격으로 수출해 국내 닭고기 시장을 더욱 혼란스럽게 했다. 반면 국내 소비자는 미국, EU 등 선진국과는 달리 닭다리를 선호하여 다리육은 부족하고 가슴육은 남아도는 구조를 가지고 있어 우리 역시 남아도는 닭 가슴육을 이들 국가에 수출해야 할 필요성이 절실하게 요구돼 왔다. 게다가 현재 협상 중인 한 · 미 FTA가 체결되어 이로 인해 미국산 닭고기 수입에 대한 관세가 철폐될 경우 국내 닭고기 시장에 미치는 영향이 적지 않은 것으로 분석됨에 따라 국내닭고기 시장에 미치는 영향을 최소화 하고, 나아가 국내 육계산업의 경쟁력 확보를 위해서는 대미 닭고기 수출의 필요성은 더욱 중요해지고 있다. 이에 필자는 지난 9월 9일부터 16일까지 8일간 미국 워싱턴 D.C 미국 농무성 식품안전검사처(FSIS) 국제업무국(OIA) 등을 방문해 한국의 가축방역 및 축산물 위생검사제도에 대해 설명하고, 대미 삼계탕 수출을 위해 담당자와 기술적 내용을 협의했다. 본고에서는 그날 협의한 내용들을 간략하게 요약하여 게재코자 한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect that the utilization motivation of SNS (Social Network Service) marketing affects on the export performance of medium small sized exporting enterprises (MSEE) directly and indirectly. This study is to investigate the effects of the export marketing environment of MSEE onto the motivation of SNS application and then it proposes a model which evaluates the performance of SNS marketing. In this study, for data collection and analysis questionnaire, survey was conducted for MSEE participated in trade exhibitions sponsored by COEX and used TradeSOS consulting services of Korea International Trade Association. The results showed that MSEE utilized SNS for cost reduction.

  • The objective of this study is to see the characteristics of Korean films exported in Japan: preferred genres, casting of Korean wave star, major distributors' releases, number of spectators in domestic market. According to the analysis, first of all, Japanese movie goers prefer Korean melo-movies compared with Korean spectators who tend to like comics. It is also proven that Korean wave stars have been cast largely in Korean films exported in Japan. Furthermore, the big hit Korean films that have been distributed by 3 majors have been preferred by Japanese importers. That means the brand power of Korean distributors and release performance in domestic market can influence directly the exportation of films.

An analysis of export deterring and facilitating factors with multidimensional scaling in Korean small and medium sized export companies (다차원척도법을 이용한 중소수출기업의 수출애로요인과 촉진요인 분석)

  • This study aims to investigate the overall relationship between the deterring and facilitating factors in export activities of the small and medium export companies. Nine export deterring factors are analyzed by multinational dimensional scaling(MDS) method to identify key dimensions underlying those factors. Perceptual mapping shows that some factors such as brand image, operating capital and e-trade infra are found similar in its degree of difficulties in export activities. Regression analysis shows that government export promotion measures might play an effective export facilitating factors to ease the export deterring factors like market information and manufacturing skill. Whereas difficulties arising from e-trade infra, operating capital, and brand image might be eliminated by internal competency of company, difficulties from distribution channel might be lessened by overseas orientation of chief executive of company.

  • We propose the statistical modeling and empirical results that can be utilized to identify and interpret the structural factors of international arms exports in recent years. The building blocks of research comprise the following questions; which would be the explanatory variables for the changing trend of international arms exports, whether the statistical significance can be verified on those variables and how those are interpreted for the future policy making purpose. We use the dataset of top 40 countries from SIPRI's Arms Transfers Database and analyze several regression models which consist of explanatory variables derived from research hypotheses. The most noticeable result is that the national fiscal reserve is shown to have consistent influence on the arms exports changes. UN security council members' group also has dominant power to make a formation of arms exports market block. Furthermore, gross domestic product and net exports volume in the national economy would seem to be related to changes of international arms exports in post-2000 period as well.

  • In this paper, we investigate the relationship between IPR creation and export activity. And we try to examine the effects of IPR use as innovation on export performance. The dataset used in the empirical analysis are the annual "Survey of Business Activity(2006~2014)" panel data which include total of 6,144 samples of firms. Data set includes the sample characteristic such as employee, industry, export performance, possession/use/development of IPR. According to analysis results, this paper confirms that R&D and export activities of firms make positive effects on IPR creation. In addition, this paper finds that IPR use of firms make positive effects on firm's export performance. Exporting firms achieve higher export performance by developing new products and processes to enter and compete in overseas markets. In addition, exporting firms can achieve higher performance by using intellectual property rights to appropriate innovation outcomes in foreign markets and to exclude the possibility of patent disputes in advance.

  • 김영준사장은 작년 6월 동신화학 사장으로 취임한 직후부터 최근까지 6차례에 걸쳐 미국시장을 찾아 한국「타이어」수출을 위한 획기적인 성과를 안고 돌아왔다. 농림부장관을 퇴임한 후 부실기업인 흥한화섬을 맡아 일약 성장기업으로 키워놓고 다시 부실화된 동신화학을 재건중에 있는 그는 취임 11개월만인 지난 5월부터는 흑자기업으로 일으켜 세웠다. 해외시장 개척부진과 출혈수출로 작년도 「타이어」업계의 수출은 5백만달러선에 머무르고 있는데 김사장은 연 2천만달러의 장기계약을 미국의 「시어스ㆍ로박」과 체결함으로써 「타이어」대미수출의 전기를 마련하고 귀국 했다.<편집자주>

The effect of resource, differentiation advantage and the moderated role of organicity of organization on performance of export firm in Korea (한국 수출중소기업에서 성과, 자원, 차별화 우위의 관계 및 조직 유기성의 조절 효과 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to empirically examine the influence of resource, differentiation advantage, organicity of organization on export performance. Beside this study examines the moderated effect of organicity of organization. To achieve the aim, the research framework has been developed with resources factors divided into two categories as financial and human resource factors, differentiation advantage, organicity of organization and export performance. Eight hypotheses have been tested on 377 export firm using PLS(Partial Least Square). Research findings suggest that both of resource factors influence positively on differentiation advantage. Also, differentiation advantage and organicity of organization have positive effects on export performance. About the moderated effect, the organicity of organization has a moderated effect to financial resource on the differentiation advantage and the differentiation advantage on export performance. But organicity of oaganization do not has a moderated impact to differentiation advantage on export performance.
